Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity
#128 - Magic that can change the world and redefine life
The gravity on the moon is only one-sixth of that on Earth. Walking on the moon feels magical; a light step can send you "floating" quite a distance.
Picking up a handful of sun-baked lunar soil that was scalding hot, Roger raised his wand.
Accompanied by a burst of magical light, Harry saw Roger's expression turn somewhat disappointed.
In Roger's past life, when lunar myths and legends were mentioned, they usually involved Chang'e and the Jade Rabbit.
Although Taoist mythology has more lunar-related elements, the story of Chang'e flying to the moon is more widely known among ordinary people.
Just now, Roger, as he had said on the Dream Weaver, wanted to use the dimensional magic of Imaginary Creation, imitating the German story, to create a magical creature: the 'Moon Rabbit'.
Why not Chang'e?
If Roger had the ability to create Chang'e, everyone on Earth would already have a copy of Three-Dimensional Magic.
But now, Roger had lowered his expectations several notches, yet he still failed to successfully create the Moon Rabbit.
The reason for this wasn't that Roger's magical power was insufficient to create a Moon Rabbit.
But rather...
"It seems, as I predicted, that insufficient intense emotion cannot give birth to magical creatures." Roger wasn't trying to create the mythical Jade Rabbit pounding medicine, but simply a rabbit that could survive on the moon.
It shouldn't have been too difficult, but when Roger cast the spell, he found that although people had a broad understanding of the Moon Rabbit, that understanding and longing were far less intense than the escalating conflict between the people of East and West Germany.
Imaginary Creation isn't creating something from nothing. Besides Roger's magical guidance, the thoughts of the masses are also crucial.
This level of 'thought' wasn't enough, under his guidance, to add a new species capable of self-reproduction to this world.
However, Roger's spellcasting wasn't entirely without any gains.
"Harry," Roger's words passed through thought, directly transmitted into Harry's mind through his gaze.
"What is it?" The clever use of Legilimency and Occlumency allowed Harry to communicate with Roger in the soundless vacuum of space in the same way.
As Harry did this, a thought suddenly occurred to him: Could this be used for cheating on exams? Eye contact and everything is OK.
However, this thought quickly dissipated. A wizard who could master these two spells was inherently talented; there was no need to cheat on Hogwarts exams with this.
Besides, the invigilating teachers weren't just for show.
"You should know about werewolves, right?"
"Of course." Harry not only knew, but also had some in-depth understanding.
In Defense Against the Dark Arts, werewolf-related content was taught in the higher grades.
But Harry had previewed it in advance.
When Snape shared all his past with Harry, facing everything frankly,
It naturally included... the Shrieking Shack incident!
That was a life-changing day for Snape.
That day was a full moon, and Lupin, a friend of Harry's father, transformed into a werewolf, almost killing Snape. It was James Potter's appearance that saved Snape's life, and it was this that made Lily, who had always been indifferent to James, change her view of him.
Harry had investigated the backgrounds of his father's close friends, and he gained his understanding of werewolves at this time.
In this world, werewolves aren't a traditionally independent race. In Harry's view, it's more like a 'viral infection'. Its state of infection is that during the full moon, it transforms from its original race into a mindless werewolf.
"Roger, if werewolves were to land on the moon and live here permanently, would they remain werewolves forever, or would they never be troubled by the werewolf curse and become normal people?" Before Roger could even bring up what he wanted to say, Harry first asked the question that had suddenly occurred to him.
After all, you can't see a 'full moon' on the moon.
The boredom of those few days on the rocket did have some impact on Harry. His thinking was quite divergent now, and he subconsciously wanted to think deeply about everything he saw.
There was no way around it; there was a gap between his and Roger's magical attainments. Roger could freely conduct various magical experiments. But Harry didn't even dare to practice magic, for fear of messing up and damaging the rocket beneath his feet,
Causing trouble for Roger.
After thinking for a moment about Harry's question, Roger gave his answer: "They should live as normal people forever."
"In my view, werewolves should be a kind of 'magical disease'. When the invisible ritual between heaven and earth is activated, and the magic changes, they will start to go crazy."
"But on the moon, on the one hand, they can't see the full moon, and on the other hand, they are no longer on Earth,
Which is equivalent to being removed from the ritual site."
"But I can't be completely sure, after all, this is just speculation. The moon also has its own special features,"
Roger cautiously replied to this kind of thing involving complex changes in magic, unlike mathematics, there will always be an accurate answer under limited conditions. Magic itself is mysterious, and even the current Roger knows very little about the essence of magic.
It is precisely because of the unknowability of magic that Roger wants to take a big detour through Three-Dimensional Magic to achieve enlightenment.
"I see." Harry nodded thoughtfully, wondering what he was thinking.
"Since you know about werewolves, I won't introduce them further." Roger turned the diverted topic back.
"After I failed to create the Moon Rabbit just now, I discovered something interesting. It seems I can create werewolves."
Fear is a stronger mental power than understanding of mythology. Coupled with the fact that werewolf attacks are real, such intense fear gathered together is enough to affect reality.
"...Ah?" Harry was stunned.
"But doesn't this world already have werewolves?" Harry directly asked his question.
Roger didn't keep many things secret from Harry, including the general principles of Imaginary Creation.
"Yes, because they already occupy the 'position' in mysticism. The mental power of all beings flows to them, so I can't create them directly."
"What I mean is, if I 'eliminate' all the werewolves that exist in the current world,
I can use the Imaginary Creation method to recreate a 'new kind of werewolf'."
"Completely different from the current werewolves, I can customize everything about the new werewolves!" In other words, as long as Roger wanted, and had the strength, he could modify the definition of werewolves.
With the implementation of Imaginary Creation, all werewolves born in this world from then on would automatically become the overpowered things from 'Hellsing'.
Roger realized that his dimensional magic, Imaginary Creation, wasn't as simple as he thought.
Its potential was far more than guiding thoughts and creating new species.
Magic is this kind of thing, mysterious and difficult to understand. Even the creator of magic sometimes cannot fully understand all the mysteries of the magic.
Magic is more like creating a 'toolbox'. As for what this toolbox can do, later generations need to explore it slowly.
"This is not just a problem of werewolves." Roger looked back at the blue planet.
Currently, there are a large number of magical creatures living on Earth that were born from various human thoughts and desires.
Such as redcaps, female ghosts, etc.
Roger raised his wand and pointed it vaguely at Earth.
"This means that as long as I am willing to take action, those magical creatures born of thought can be eradicated by me from the root, and will never appear again."
"At the same time, it also means that under Imaginary Creation, I can modify the entire wizarding world's biological chain system." The wand vaguely pointing at Earth shook slightly, and Roger began to make new adjustments to some of his future plans.
This was one of the two biggest gains Roger obtained by trying to create the Moon Rabbit.
As for the other intelligence gain.
It answered the question that Roger had on the Dream Weaver.
