Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity
#142 - Nicolas Flamel's Book List
In this world, everything has an origin; there's a cause for every effect.
Whether it's Roger or Luna, their growth into their current selves, with their unique personalities, all stems from their roots.
Roger, needless to say, has transformed from ordinary to extraordinary, from peace to war, constantly brushing shoulders with death, making his will and attitude towards the external world very special.
Luna's eccentricity is inseparable from her talent and her mother's death.
"This kind of 'greatness' is something I've never heard anyone mention before," Luna said, her ethereal eyes turning somewhat dull after hearing Roger's description of the Second Magic.
Despite her young age, Luna's intelligence is not low; she can understand the magnitude of change that the existence of the Second Magic will bring to the wizarding world.
In her vocabulary, perhaps only the word 'greatness' can perfectly诠释 it.
Of course, the changes in the Muggle world are beyond her comprehension.
Through reading her father's newspapers, magazines, and the books in the house, Luna has a basic understanding of the wizarding world.
But the Muggle world is a mystery to Luna.
"Just because it's not known to the public doesn't mean it doesn't exist, does it?" Roger said with a smile.
Luna gazed at Roger's smile for a few seconds, then couldn't help but curl up the corners of her mouth.
"Indeed."
Luna has always been out of sync with the mainstream, but this isn't intentional on her part.
Her eccentricity is rooted in her ability; Luna can see the Crumple-Horned Snorkacks, but what she sees isn't limited to them.
Perhaps they aren't living beings, but she can indeed notice many things that are difficult for ordinary people to see.
It's like how humans and cats or dogs get different information when they smell the same scent.
And the specific manifestation is...
I saw it, I clearly saw it.
But others can't see it and think I'm lying.
Having grown up in this environment, and being deeply loved and protected by her parents, without suffering serious harm as a result,
Luna naturally develops the idea that:
Truth is in the hands of the few.
What the masses believe to be true is not necessarily the truth.
Just like someone who can freely travel through time wouldn't treat the history books of various countries and the papers of paleontologists as absolutely reliable.
He might even find those so-called scandalous unofficial histories fascinating, and then flip through that period of time to see what really happened in history.
Why did a country prosper, what did dinosaurs look like, and how did they decline?
Different information channels determine different ways of thinking.
Luna believes in things that other young wizards consider absurd, not because she's foolish, but because she thinks...
Is what you think is real, really real?
So, when faced with those inexplicable things, Luna chooses to believe first and then verify, rather than believing the answers given by "authority."
This way of thinking gives Luna a completely different perspective.
And the shock of losing her mother at a young age makes her unwilling to look at the world from a cold perspective; she prefers to gaze at everything from a romantic, almost fairytale-like perspective.
She believes that death is only a temporary separation, and when life comes to an end, everyone will eventually reunite.
Luna's heart is therefore extraordinary, but it also has major flaws.
At least, this is the case from the perspective of practicing the Three-Dimensional Method.
The Three-Dimensional Method is a more rational system; being too emotional is not a good thing.
"If you're interested in this, we can take some time to chat in detail after school starts in a few days," Roger said, snapping his fingers to dispel the silencing charm.
Roger wasn't in a hurry to succeed, to pour out his set of theories like beans.
He knew that if he did that, it would definitely trigger Luna's stress response.
It's better to take it slow and steady, and if Roger breaks down and crushes what he wants to say,
and Luna fully understands it,
but still chooses to stick to her own world cognitive system, unwilling to compromise in the slightest,
then Roger will choose to respect her choice.
Given enough time, even miracles can be replicated.
For an immortal, missing one means encountering the next.
With the magic dispelled, Xenophilius, who had been waiting not far away, looked at his daughter's smile, his emotions becoming more and more complicated.
While the others might not pay too much attention to the secret talks for various reasons, as a father, how could he allow it at this time?
Although he couldn't hear their conversation, Xenophilius could still tell from his daughter's expression that her relationship with Roger had become closer.
After agreeing on a time with Luna, Roger said goodbye to the child he had met by chance.
After leaving Flourish and Blotts, Roger still had some things to buy, but Luna had already bought all her school supplies.
The two were only acting together because they were buying books and going the same way.
Naturally, the two who were no longer going the same way separated and went their separate ways.
Watching Roger and Hermione's departing figures, Xenophilius was silent for a few seconds, then lowered his head and turned his gaze to his precious daughter.
"Luna -- you read 'The Quibbler' every issue, right?"
Since before she could read, his wife liked to tell Luna 'bedtime stories' by reading magazines.
In her opinion, her husband's magazine was content that could be proudly read to her child, rather than the 'absurd things' in the eyes of most wizards.
And Luna, after growing up, naturally still retains some of her past habits.
"Of course," Luna turned her head to meet Xenophilius's gaze.
Unlike the slightly scrutinizing, ethereal gaze she gives to others, Luna's gaze is always gentle when facing her only relative.
Although she was very interested in Roger, Luna had actually been paying attention to her father all along.
Although Xenophilius hadn't spoken yet, Luna had roughly guessed what her father was going to say.
So she spoke first, saying: "This world is about to undergo some changes, and I want to try to follow in the footsteps of the seer, to see more interesting things and become stronger."
Initially, Luna's feelings for Roger were just the novelty of a curious child meeting a senior who knew a lot of knowledge and had seen a lot of things.
But now it's different.
She is too young to fully understand the heavy meaning behind the rise and fall of nations, nor can she smell the unusual signals from Anglo-German cooperation.
But she can still understand some of the changes that the Second Magic might bring, after Roger's explanation.
In the past, she had always lived under the protection of her parents, but now she has her own wand.
She also wants to do something for this family in her own way.
Faced with her daughter's firm eyes, Xenophilius opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, only a helpless sigh remained.
At this moment, Xenophilius knew that whatever he said would be in vain.
Luna didn't choose to get close to Roger without knowing anything about him.
But made the decision after understanding everything.
It's a good thing when children are sensible.
But as parents, sometimes they really don't want their children to mature too early.
Luna's matter was just an unexpected episode for Roger, and he didn't continue to pay attention to the development after their departure.
Walking side by side with Hermione, who had also just arrived in Diagon Alley and still had some school supplies to buy, the two were discussing the new Defence Against the Dark Arts class.
"Roger, what do you think our new professor will teach in this class?" Hermione asked with a hint of anticipation.
In her trolley, there was a pile of books to be used in the Defence Against the Dark Arts class.
"The Philosophy of Survival", "Dangerous Dark Arts Materials", "The Differences Between Ancient and Modern Magic\
,""Map of the Magical Animal World"...
There were six or seven books in total, covering various seemingly unrelated fields,
Philosophy, alchemy, spells, magical creatures, potions, healing arts, and -- Muggle Studies?
Looking at this pile of books, Hermione really couldn't figure out what that legendary alchemist was going to teach them.
He wouldn't be trying to teach the content of many different professors in one class, would he?
"Don't worry," Roger said in a relaxed tone.
Roger was also stunned when he first saw the book list.
But when he looked through the contents of the books while buying them in the bookstore, he had a clue.
This old wizard, who came at the invitation of a friend, was definitely not here to teach a superficial class.
"Nicodemus's course, if I'm not mistaken, he probably wants to teach 'the Way of the Superior Physician'."
