Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity
#22 - Changsheng Avenue outsourcing business is now open
After Roger's initial experiments, he was certain that seeking life extension through his Microscopic World Transformation Art was a viable path.
However, Roger soon encountered the same problem as the ancient wizards.
The reason ancient wizards didn't pursue microscopic transformation, or use Transformation Art to create neutron ray bursts, was because Transformation Art is a rational magic.
It requires the caster to have a clear understanding of what they want to transform the target into, and also to have a perception of their target.
Insufficient knowledge of the desired outcome would lead to failures like Ron turning a rat into a cup, only for it to still have half a rat tail—an incomplete transformation.
Insufficient knowledge of the target would result in complete spell failure, with nothing happening at all.
Whether you can directly see the rat or feel it with your hands, you must at least know you want to turn A into B.
You can't just conjure B without even knowing what A is.
Creating something from nothing falls under the domain of the Summoning Charm, a branch of Transformation Art.
With the aid of a microscope, Roger could directly perceive the existence of cells and capture their shapes, but due to the limited precision of the microscope, Roger's manipulation scale was limited to the cellular level.
Like the ancient wizards, being limited by the scale of perception meant he couldn't cast spells with greater precision.
Roger's other predicament was even more troublesome.
If Roger wanted to achieve longevity, he needed to create a microscopic substance that could be controlled by his will and also repair and modify his body.
Leaving aside what substance could help Roger modify his body, the biggest problem was how to connect his will with the microscopic substance!
After studying at Hogwarts for some time, Roger's understanding of the magical world had reached a new level.
Before long, he came up with a solution that wasn't really a solution.
And another solution that might or might not work.
"Let's try both methods," he said.
.
.
.
Harry Potter hadn't expected that after running into Professor Quirrell and discussing Roger, he would have another encounter with Roger in just a couple of days.
"Please, help me," Roger said earnestly.
He didn't feel the slightest bit embarrassed.
If seeking help from others could better solve a problem, then one should seek help.
Trouble?
Relationships between people arise from trouble.
You help me, I help you, demonstrating each other's value.
Over time, the sunk costs become high, and a relationship of trust is established—that's networking... unless you don't even have anything to offer in return, purely exploiting the other party.
When you are not strong enough to defeat the entire world alone, making good use of relationships is a very useful skill.
And the difficulty lies in determining what kind of people are worth trusting and forming deep relationships with, and what kind of people will bring you endless trouble.
But these difficulties don't exist for Roger, the 'seer'.
"Okay," Harry Potter agreed readily to Roger's request.
After all, it was just a small matter.
After speaking, Harry led Roger towards the other side of Hogwarts Castle, towards the Forbidden Forest.
He was taking Roger to see Hagrid.
In fact, Roger could have gone directly himself, but introductions from acquaintances make things easier.
The task Roger wanted Hagrid to do was quite complicated.
If Hagrid wasn't already someone extremely interested in magical creatures, Roger would have found it difficult to find a way to get Hagrid to agree to help him.
When handling troublesome matters, the higher the initial goodwill, the better.
And the result was as Roger expected.
Hagrid wasn't offended at all that Harry had brought someone, but was rather happy.
Happy that Harry had made another friend at school.
"...Magical creatures invisible to the naked eye?" The towering half-giant Hagrid laboriously lifted his head from the microscope Roger had brought.
He twisted his neck uncomfortably from being bent over too much.
He roughly understood what Roger meant—not invisible magical creatures, but magical creatures small enough to be unseen.
"Yes, and I'm also a bit interested in the bloodline breeding between different magical creatures," Roger nodded.
His idea was simple.
Boggarts, magical creatures that can see into your heart and turn into what you fear most.
They had 'once' turned into Dementors, almost scaring Harry into unconsciousness.
Among magical creatures, there are creatures that can sense the thoughts of other beings.
If there was a creature small enough to sense a wizard's thoughts, and because it was too small, it had no brain and no thoughts of its own, and could also transform, then it might be able to satisfy his needs to some extent.
Roger was trying to crossbreed such a creature.
But this fell into the realm of Blood Magic and Magizoology, which Roger wasn't familiar with.
This deviated from his original chosen path of Transformation Art, and from the perspective of future development potential, this path was also lower than his Transformation Art path, so Roger didn't plan to change course.
Now, Roger wanted to 'outsource' this path that he didn't plan to take for the time being.
If one day he really didn't succeed in the Transformation Art path to longevity, at least he would have a backup plan, and wouldn't end up like the old wizard who wrote 《Blood Magic and Transformation Art—Future Era Conjecture》, entering a new track from scratch, without enough time, and dying of old age halfway through.
Roger not only liked to plan ahead, but also generally made multiple preparations.
And on Hagrid's side, even if Roger succeeded in his Transformation Art path and didn't use these magical creatures, he would still remember Hagrid's favor.
Moreover, the act of cultivating a very special new magical creature itself, as long as it was well-managed, would be enough to bring Hagrid huge benefits!
"This..." After Roger truthfully told Hagrid part of his thoughts, Hagrid lowered his head and pondered for a moment.
"Okay! I'll help you with this!"
He was willing to help Roger with this aspect of magical creature breeding.
Hagrid was a large, simple-minded person.
He agreed to this matter not because Roger was a seer, not because of Roger's promises, and not because of Harry.
Simply put, the act of creating a magical creature that no one had ever heard of, and that even had a chance to open a separate 'order' in Magizoology, was for someone who loved magical creatures... too cooool!
This was simply the coolest thing Hagrid had heard this year! Cooler than the Philosopher's Stone!
After getting the answer, Harry and Roger ended their visit to Hagrid.
Both of them left with smiles.
Roger's smile was because his goal had been successfully achieved, and Harry's was because he was happy that he could also become someone who could help others.
At this moment, a gust of cold wind suddenly blew past.
Their school robes billowed back and forth.
Roger couldn't smile anymore.
"What's wrong?" Harry, who had been paying attention to Roger, noticed that Roger's expression looked like he had eaten a lemon.
"...It's nothing, just a side effect of a magical experiment."
One of the two solutions Roger had come up with to solve the problem was the path of ultra-microscopic magical creatures outsourced to Hagrid.
He was also promoting the other one.
However, because his own technology was not yet mature, Roger was now having some problems with his body.
Simply put, it was like Blackbeard eating the Dark-Dark Fruit, his body's sense of pain had been amplified many times.
The originally soft school uniform felt like torture instruments to him.
The wind blowing on it was like undergoing a major punishment.
"Magical experiment?" Although Harry knew that Roger was working on things like eternal life, he didn't know the specific details of Roger's research and development.
"Yes, I call it... Magical Neuron Reconstruction Technology."
"Are you interested in experiencing it?" Roger showed a kind smile.
