Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#37 - One generation of equipment, one generation of design, one generation of pre-research

Impossible.

That was Voldemort's answer after a brief moment of contemplation regarding the battle.

From the recent fight, Voldemort realized that Roger's observation of fate wasn't just about seeing the immediate future; he could see 'very far'.

There was a trap in Roger's initial contract: the 'arm' that served as the additional stake in the Philosopher's Stone game.

After Roger's Transfiguration modifications to his internal body structure, even if Quirrell's spells weren't intended to kill, they could still trigger Roger's danger sense at full power!

Against a true seer who could freely observe fate, any surprise attack was futile.

All conspiracies, tricks, and ambushes were laughable.

The more one played with schemes, the more likely they were to stumble in unexpected situations.

When the observation of fate reached a certain level, the seer's power became terrifying, almost capable of reversing time at will!

For Roger, even a 3% chance of winning, after making countless correct choices, was equivalent to approaching 100% indefinitely, let alone 30%.

Any slight mistake in Quirrell's combat would lead to his inevitable defeat.

The only way to achieve victory was to allow Quirrell to grow to the point where he could defeat Roger 100%, obliterating all possibilities with nuclear-level absolute force.

This was also why, after enrolling, Roger had focused all his research efforts on extending his lifespan and enhancing his talents, without considering magical research in the direction of combat.

Having truly come into contact with the power of magic and understanding more of the mysteries of the mind, Roger's prophetic abilities were far superior to what they were in the Middle East.

Now proficient in spells like the Transfiguration Charm, unless powerful wizards at the level of Dumbledore or Voldemort, or forces of equal power, wanted to kill him... in a life-or-death struggle, he was almost invincible!

An enemy with a chance of being defeated was destined to lose.

An enemy with no chance of being defeated would remain unbeatable even after studying combat magic... The gap in strength between the two sides was too great, and a few spells or tricks couldn't bridge it.

A single Avada Kedavra and mental crush from the opponent would render any struggle futile.

Unless Roger had Harry's fate-level, targeted special attack bonus.

Otherwise, he would have to steadily strengthen his foundation to catch up.

"Interesting, tsk, very interesting," Voldemort chuckled from behind the turban, sending shivers down the spine.

He could indeed make Quirrell stronger through guidance in magical knowledge, but what level was Quirrell at?

To have him compete with this little seer in terms of growth speed?

Don't be ridiculous.

The feasibility of breaking the situation with brute force never existed from the start.

Everything returned to the 'riddle' of the little game that Roger had proposed.

'Can you really break fate?!'

.

.

.

Voldemort hadn't expected it.

So many years after graduating from Hogwarts, he would actually return here once again.

The Hogwarts Library.

As a wizard who had reached the pinnacle of magical arts in the present world, Voldemort also had his own system of magical cognition.

He delved deeply into the realms of Dark Arts and the soul.

It's not that he was ignorant in other fields, but they simply weren't on the same level as his Dark Arts.

Faced with an unfamiliar enemy from the realm of fate, the best solution he could think of was to search through these ancient texts for a glimmer of hope to break the situation.

Not far behind Voldemort, Roger watched his focused figure without overthinking.

If he really found a way to break the situation, Roger's danger sense would react immediately; then, he would simply respond accordingly.

While Voldemort was growing stronger, he wasn't standing still either.

In the two months since enrolling, Roger's path of magic was finally about to enter a new realm!

Speaking of which, he still had to thank Professor McGonagall for leading him onto the path of alchemy, and Hermione for dispelling his tunnel vision.

Although the internal operating principle of alchemical items was supported by magic, and had nothing to do with neuroscience or physics, purely a technical black box.

Roger's idea of creating a powerful alchemical organ, studying its operating principle, and then replicating it into his own body, using Transfiguration body modification and alchemy to lift himself off the ground, failed.

However, alchemy still pointed out a clear path for Roger while strengthening his talents.

After a period of research, Roger's alchemical second brain had already taken shape.

Although the technology to assist in computation and accelerate thinking was still nonexistent, the function of storing memories was quickly developed after studying the alchemical principles of items such as the Pensieve.

Having already possessed the ability to remember everything he saw, he no longer needed to spend time taking notes.

Roger's learning efficiency was now greatly enhanced compared to before.

As Roger's skill in human alchemy grew, an idea rose in his mind: perhaps he could try to create an alchemical organ similar to Mad-Eye Moody's magical eye.

Of course, Roger didn't want to see through anyone; what he really wanted was an alchemical organ that could allow his observation scale to break through the cellular level.

If this idea officially succeeded, then Roger's Transfiguration modification would completely enter the 2.0 era, transcending the current changes in flesh and blood cells and entering the level of material reorganization.

The path to 'eternal life' might be achieved sooner than he expected.

If that were really the case, then the path to 'agelessness' should also begin to be prepared...

Roger's path, like scientific research in the Muggle world, involved equipping one generation, designing one generation, and pre-researching one generation.

He would gradually and continuously iterate his technology, starting from flesh and blood, to matter and energy, comprehending the truth of magic, until transcending magic and reaching the other shore... as long as he didn't die along the way.

Soon, Roger, like Voldemort, was completely immersed in the world of knowledge.

For a time, the entire library was filled only with the sound of the two turning pages.

Until a voice broke the silence.

"Roger, Roger..." A small voice sounded in Roger's ear.

Roger turned his head and saw that it was Hermione.

"What's wrong?"

"The Quidditch match is about to start, aren't you going to watch?" Hermione asked in a slightly puzzled voice as she passed by the library to return a book.

This was also the reason why the library, which usually had quite a few people, only had Roger and Voldemort reading books through Quirrell's body.

Quidditch was a popular sport in the wizarding world, and the Hogwarts Quidditch match was also one of the major events on campus.

Normally, people from the entire school would go there to cheer for their respective teams, or simply watch the game.

...Even those who didn't like Quidditch that much would usually join in the fun.

"Sorry, I'm not particularly interested in making a special trip for a short match that we're guaranteed to win," Roger replied.

If Roger wasn't mistaken, today's match would not only be a guaranteed win, but also a crushing victory.

"But..." Hermione raised an eyebrow.

"You could say you're one of Harry's most important friends at Hogwarts, yet your figure is absent from his glorious moment... Harry would be very disappointed, right?"
