Hogwarts: Wizards of Eternity

#71 - Heading to the Pacific

The distance from Taiwan to XJ is only about two or three thousand kilometers.

While from England to the Pacific Ocean, it's about 12,000 to 20,000 kilometers.

Even with Dumbledore's abilities, it's not something he can reach in a short time.

Apparition magic can move you instantly, but it's not without limitations.

First, the farther the distance moved, the higher the risk. If the distance exceeds the wizard's ability, it will cause Splinching, where the body is cut into pieces by space.

Even someone as powerful as Voldemort cannot use cross-country Apparition.

Second, the key to using Apparition is destination, determination, and deliberation. The destination of Apparition must be a place that the caster is very familiar with. Simply seeing a photo or passing by once without remembering the terrain is not enough.

And above the Pacific Ocean, there is obviously no landmark that Dumbledore, a British wizard, has a particularly deep impression of. Even if there were, he couldn't go there.

So, after hearing Roger's request, he pondered for a moment and asked, "Can't it be somewhere else?"

"Any other place is fine, as long as there are no people within a thousand kilometers."

1000 kilometers... Dumbledore remembered a few uninhabited areas, but uninhabited areas are not completely without people. There are still some observers from government departments.

After thinking it over, Dumbledore decided to follow Roger's initial request.

Actually, going to the Pacific Ocean isn't without a short-term solution.

The Floo Network.

It is a more convenient way of spatial movement, more stable than Apparition, consumes less energy, and even children can use the Floo Network for international travel.

But there are two problems.

The Floo Network is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Magic. Normal use within the country is fine, but if you use it internationally, you need the approval of the Ministry of Magic.

Of course, you can also choose to operate in violation of the rules, but then you have to bear some legal risks.

Dumbledore is a person who is willing to abide by order and will not engage in illegal operations at this time.

Moreover, the Muggle international community is currently undergoing earth-shattering turmoil. With Dumbledore's identity and strength, if he wants to go abroad, he must report it to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings.

There is no need to worry about the approval process. Fudge has only been in office as Minister of Magic for about a year and is still unstable. He needs to ask Dumbledore for help everywhere. It is the honeymoon period between the two parties, and Dumbledore's various needs will definitely be given the green light without even thinking about it.

.

.

.

Looking at the unfamiliar country beyond the fireplace, Roger's first reaction was that the Floo Network was much more comfortable than Apparition.

Roger and Dumbledore were now on a small island nation near Australia in the Pacific Ocean.

Because they had notified them in advance that they were just passing through, there was no welcoming ceremony for Dumbledore's visit. Only two people in charge of external affairs from the local wizarding organization greeted Dumbledore.

Speaking of the wizarding organizations here, they are a bit different from the British Ministry of Magic and other major countries. The United Kingdom has a population of over 50 million, but only so few wizards. These small Pacific countries have too few people, so they don't each have their own Ministry of Magic, but jointly formed a Pacific Wizarding Alliance.

… But even with so many countries combined, they are not even one-tenth as strong as the British Ministry of Magic.

Magic is subjective, but it also pays attention to heritage. Without the spells developed by predecessors and a large number of magical theories, purely groping in the dark, the strength of wizards in those remote small countries can be imagined.

"Roger."

The sky and the ocean were the same color. The midday sun was a bit harsh. Occasionally, some clouds floated by, echoing the surging waves, making everything around not so lonely. The two people, with no nautical experience, were sailing into the depths of the ocean on a small boat they had bought.

The two didn't need any nautical experience. One could Apparate, and the other could live without eating or drinking. No matter what shipwreck occurred, it would not have any impact on Roger and Dumbledore.

"Huh? What's wrong?" Roger, who was steering the boat according to the driver's manual he had obtained from the locals before setting sail, looked at Dumbledore behind him.

Although it would be more convenient to sail with magic, he wanted to play with something he had never experienced before.

"It's nothing, I've just been curious about something all along." There was still some time before they reached their destination. Since they were idle anyway, Dumbledore suddenly wanted to chat with Roger about some things.

Looking at the relaxed and cheerful young wizard in front of him, Dumbledore couldn't help but recall their first meeting.

Above the Supreme Court, that young child said in a serious tone: 'I want to save myself, I want to save those who believe in me, I want to fulfill my promise and lead everyone to survive. I have no regrets. Even if you find me guilty and give me a chance to reverse time and return me to that battlefield, I will still choose to fight.'

"Roger, you are one of the bravest people I have ever met when facing death. Why are you so obsessed with immortality, and so... anxious?" This was actually a question that Dumbledore had never quite understood.

Many wizards pursue a long life, which is not surprising, but that's not what Roger is pursuing.

From the research Roger shared with him, Dumbledore could see that what Roger wanted was not eternal life or an infinite lifespan, but absolute immortality. These two are vastly different.

The Three-Dimensional Theory starts with magic, but does not stop there.

If this system were to advance to the extreme, it would be everything is me, omniscient and omnipotent. Not to mention the disappearance of small magic, the annihilation of the universe, the collapse of time and space, the obliteration of cause and effect, even more terrifying things probably couldn't hurt Him in the slightest.

Regardless of whether this theory can support Roger to reach that point, at least in terms of the initial intention, it is moving in that direction. Normally speaking, even if one is pursuing eternal life, there is absolutely no need to make it so exaggerated.

In addition, with the talent Roger has shown now, and his prophetic abilities, he can completely take things slowly in many things. Why is Roger always so eager in every step, constantly taking risks, as if there is some unspeakable existence chasing him from behind!

Hearing Dumbledore's question, Roger couldn't help but laugh and then said, "Headmaster Dumbledore, you are not the first person to ask me this question."

A few months ago, when he asked Professor McGonagall for the Undetectable Extension Charm, she also asked similar words.

At that time, Roger spun some complex international situation, the tense relationship between Muggles and wizards, the unknown threat of the dark forest theory of the universe, and so on, to get by.

His current strength is completely different from what it was then. He has shown Dumbledore more things, and the exact same statement should not be very applicable.

Roger had to think of a new explanation.

Tell the truth?

Only this question, Roger can't tell the truth, because it involves one of Roger's deepest secrets!
