#124 - You hate him
In mid-November, Aaron arrived in England, at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.
Located northwest of London, it was the filming location for "Bram Stoker's Dracula"!
"Cut, 15-minute break, Winona, come over here for a moment."
Francis Ford Coppola frowned, stopped filming, and called Winona Ryder over to talk.
Aaron and another producer, Michael Apted, stood aside and both noticed the problem: the male and female leads had no chemistry!
The lead actress, Winona Ryder, and Gary Oldman, who played Count Dracula, felt very distant.
"What's going on? They performed very well during rehearsals before, didn't they?"
Aaron shook his head; things weren't going smoothly right from the start of filming.
Michael Apted spread his hands. "It seems like there's some conflict between them!"
Aaron looked over there; Francis Ford Coppola was talking to Winona Ryder. "They're both professional actors; they should be able to adjust quickly."
Michael Apted nodded, then looked at Aaron again. "By the way, I heard you say before that you were going to support the filming of director Spielberg's 'Schindler's List.' How's that going?"
"Oh, it's about to start. Director Spielberg has already gone to the Polish studio!"
Aaron explained that there was no need to worry about "Schindler's List," but the progress of "Scent of a Woman" had slowed down again.
Mainly because the male lead, Al Pacino, wanted to start filming after the new year. Last month, the love movie "Frankie and Johnny," starring him and Michelle Pfeiffer, was released, but it performed poorly.
After more than a month of release, it only grossed $20 million at the box office. And then, another of his works, 'Glengarry Glen Ross,' was being reshot with some scenes.
A few days later, "Bram Stoker's Dracula" got back on track because director Francis Ford Coppola moved some of Winona Ryder and Gary Oldman's intimate scenes to the back!
That day, Aaron suddenly received a call from Spielberg.
"Aaron, I'm in New York!"
"Huh, you're in New York? Aren't you at the Krakow studio in Poland?"
Aaron looked puzzled.
"Here's the thing: I originally planned to film at the Auschwitz concentration camp, and I even got permission to film there."
"But, I received a letter from the Jewish Committee organization suggesting that I shouldn't disturb the rest of the dead."
"So, I'm preparing to build a concentration camp near the Auschwitz concentration camp for filming, and the budget is estimated to increase by a million dollars!"
Aaron stuck out his tongue. "I see. No problem, I'll have Dawn Pictures pay for it. It's indeed not suitable to film in the real Auschwitz concentration camp."
"The deceased have already rested in peace, and it's indeed inconvenient."
"Thank you, Aaron!" Spielberg had specifically flown back to apologize to the Jewish organizations and would soon return to Poland to choose a location to build the set.
"It's what I should do!"
After hanging up the phone, Aaron shook his head. Fortunately, it was in Poland; building a concentration camp wasn't expensive, and the labor costs weren't high either.
Spielberg said a million dollars, but it was estimated that the budget would increase by almost $2 million. Rebuilding a concentration camp would also take time.
In the afternoon, Aaron left the studio and prepared to go to London!
"Aaron, are you going back to London?"
Outside the studio, Winona Ryder came to Aaron's side.
"Yes, are you going too?"
"Yes, can you treat me to a drink?"
"Of course!"
Aaron was staying at the Savoy Hotel on the Strand in London, where he could enjoy views of the River Thames.
At a nearby bar, Aaron took Winona Ryder to a seat and ordered beer. "By the way, you're Jewish too, right?"
"Yes, of Soviet Jewish descent, but I don't believe in Judaism!"
Winona Ryder explained.
Aaron nodded. There were too many people with Jewish ancestry in Hollywood. How many believed in Judaism?
"I heard you invested in Spielberg's Holocaust film 'Schindler's List.' That's really great!"
Aaron smiled. "Well, remember to guest star in my movie 'Scent of a Woman' for a few days next year."
"The movie won't start filming until next year."
"Don't worry, you've helped me a lot in this crew, and I will repay you!"
Aaron looked at Winona Ryder. "You seem to really dislike Gary Oldman. You don't have many intimate scenes together either, just hugging and kissing, right?"
They were stars. What did these count as intimate scenes?
Winona Ryder's small face wrinkled. "Well, he told a dirty and excessive joke before, and I was very disgusted."
No mistake, one first, one hair, one inside, one appearance, one look!
"Also, I think his acting style is too intense and risky."
"But, you don't have to worry. I don't want to talk to him during filming breaks. I'll adjust my state during official filming!"
Indeed, during filming breaks, Winona Ryder stayed away from Gary Oldman, with her assistant, or chatting with other people.
Of course, the person she sought out most often was Aaron Anderson, but Aaron wasn't always at the studio.
"Aaron, tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Are you going back to America?"
Winona Ryder suddenly asked.
Aaron shook his head. "I won't return to America until next month. It's the Oscar award season, and Dawn Pictures has some events to hold."
"Next year, your time on the set shouldn't be long, right?"
Aaron tilted his head. "That's right. I won't come unless there's something important. The crew has done almost everything they need to do."
"Shady said that you were originally blonde, right?"
Shady Frost was the British actress who played Winona Ryder's character's best friend.
"Yes, but I didn't like it. The color in 'Edward Scissorhands' was my natural color!"
Hollywood's stereotype of blondes has always been sexy and dumb, a dumb blonde.
Winona Ryder smiled as she spoke. "Well, Aaron, Shady Frost is very sexy and beautiful, and she's British. Doesn't she appeal to you?"
Which woman in the crew didn't want something to happen with Aaron Anderson?
Aaron waved his hand casually. "I'm not a casual person."
"Let's go, let's go out for a walk. The Thanksgiving events in London are quite lively!"
"Um..."
"The Disney animated feature 'Beauty and the Beast' seems to be a critical hit again," the movie poster at the entrance of the Savoy Theatre attracted Winona Ryder.
"Yes, the box office is also good. The opening score in North America was $12 million, and after 10 days of release, it has accumulated $26 million!"
As Aaron spoke, he turned his attention to another movie poster, "The Addams Family," which was also released in the United States last week. The opening weekend score was $24 million, and now it's $55 million.
It started showing in the UK this week. Paramount really made a good deal. Orion Pictures has sold two hit works to other companies this year. "The Silence of the Lambs" made them heartbroken, and now here comes "The Addams Family"?
"Aaron, what are you smiling at?"
Winona Ryder suddenly saw Aaron Anderson's lips curl up. These two movies weren't produced by Dawn Pictures, so why was he so happy?
"Oh, it's nothing. I just thought of something funny!"
Orion's luck, who knows whether it's good or bad?
Immediately, Aaron went directly to the square on the side, where many people were performing...
