#193 - Tom's Problem
"Disney is planning to acquire Miramax?"
In the car, Aaron leaned back in his seat, talking on the phone with his assistant, Aislinn Beckett, one hand on Christiana Yeri's hair.
"It seems Disney wants to gain something in art films, and is now entering the independent film market!"
Sony established the independent film label Sony Pictures Classics last year, also eyeing the foreign art and literary film market.
Dawn's New Moon Pictures, Orion's Orion Classics, New Line's Fine Line Features, etc., are all art film labels.
"I understand, keep an eye on it. Miramax is heavily in debt, but those two brothers don't want anyone telling them what to do!"
After speaking, Aaron put down his phone and closed his eyes, enjoying Christiana Yeri's service.
Soon after, Aaron took a deep breath and released his hand.
Christiana Yeri raised her head, her eyes filled with allure, her long hair disheveled, looking at Aaron and breathing heavily, "Aaron, let's go back!"
"Okay," Aaron quickly restarted the car and drove straight towards Beverly Hills.
In the evening, in the luxurious villa in Mandeville Canyon, Beverly Hills, Christiana Yeri and Aaron lay together in the warm bathtub!
"Aaron, I've met Sophie Marceau. Does she not live in Los Angeles permanently?"
Although Christiana Yeri wasn't familiar with Sophie Marceau, her ex-boyfriend had worked with Sophie Marceau.
Besides, they were both French, and meeting in Hollywood felt different.
Aaron shook his head, "Sophie likes to work on independent film projects, so she spends most of her time in New York!"
Christiana Yeri smiled, "Is a woman with French flair different?"
Aaron reached out and caressed the woman in his arms a few times, "Indeed, different. For example, you have a wild beauty!"
"Well, I'm Brazilian, with South American blood," Christiana Yeri said with a smile, leaning against Aaron's chest.
"I know. There are many Brazilian models with great figures!"
Aaron wanted to join forces with Franklin Templeton Investments to acquire the Victoria's Secret brand, and would need some Brazilian models to help in the future.
......
Aaron didn't care much about Disney's desire to acquire Miramax. If an independent film company's development strategy couldn't grow, it would inevitably be acquired by a major film group.
The main thing was that the current momentum of independent films had attracted the attention of several major distributors, and the pie was big enough!
However, as an independent film company, it certainly hoped to maintain its independence. Major studios also valued its artistic quality, which could win awards.
A few days later, through Steven Spielberg's introduction, Dawn and Michael Crichton quickly reached a consensus.
Dawn Television would develop the urban medical drama "ER", written by Michael Crichton!
At Dawn Pictures, Aaron, David Geffen, director Neil Jordan, and actor Tom Cruise were in the office discussing "Interview with the Vampire".
"A budget of 60 million US dollars is enough for the film's gorgeous style in sets, costumes, props, and Gothic aesthetics."
"However, this film is different from Coppola's 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'. Although the vampires in it are lonely, they also have a human side."
"Anne Rice's novel's radical homosexuality is also a highlight!"
With David Geffen's strong financial support, Aaron didn't care about the investment. Dawn, as the distributor, could participate in some of the investment to guarantee its own interests.
"Aaron, I want to make this film an epic," David Geffen said, looking at Aaron with burning eyes.
Aaron smiled and looked at Neil Jordan, "How's the script revision going?"
"Almost done. If nothing unexpected happens, we can start filming in the summer. We are currently looking for studios in London, Paris, and other places," Neil Jordan explained.
Aaron nodded, then turned to look at Tom Cruise again, "Tom, the novel's author, Anne Rice, doesn't seem to be optimistic about you playing the role, but we all are!"
Tom Cruise shrugged, "Ms. Anne Rice's novel is very good. I also participated a lot when Neil adapted the script."
"Perhaps, after the movie is finished, I should mail a videotape of my performance to Ms. Anne Rice!"
With a sunshine-like smile, Tom Cruise was still the heartthrob.
"After preparing for so long, let's get 'Interview with the Vampire' started as soon as possible and release it next year."
After the meeting, Tom Cruise came to Aaron's office and talked about Cruise/Wagner Productions.
"Have you thought about it? Are you preparing to participate in the film production business?"
Most celebrities who serve as producers are only producers in name only and do not participate in the film production business at all.
Aaron wanted to know whether Tom Cruise really wanted to participate or just wanted to have his name attached.
"Of course, Aaron, I'm also learning film production. I've been acting for so long, and I'm clear about the overall process of film."
"Participating in the production business is to develop projects according to my own ideas!"
Tom Cruise, although he has some bad habits, his professionalism is absolutely admirable.
"Okay, but Cruise/Wagner Productions has signed an exclusive agreement with Paramount, so future cooperation may be difficult."
Aaron tapped the table. Tom Cruise was too popular, and his films basically wouldn't lose money.
"A Few Good Men", a political thriller, has already grossed over 120 million US dollars in North America, and the overseas market has just been released and has also exceeded 50 million!
This military legal-themed work starring Tom Cruise and Jodie Foster is a double harvest of word-of-mouth and box office.
Tom Cruise smiled, "There will be opportunities in the future. Paramount has the exclusive distribution rights for Cruise/Wagner Productions."
"I can also participate in the projects of other film companies!"
"By the way, Aaron, can Neil Jordan really direct this 'Interview with the Vampire'?"
Tom Cruise's old problem was that he had no confidence in new directors.
Aaron sighed in his heart, "Tom, trust Neil. You also know the excellence of 'The Crying Game'."
"He will handle this film well. In fact, there are many good new directors."
"Jonathan Demme also filmed a movie like 'The Silence of the Lambs', didn't he?"
