After cleaning up the dishes, Haruki returned to Sara’s room.

“I’m back.”

“Nii-San, you came back.”

“Of course. Now, good night.”

I patted Sara’s head.

“Can you please hold my hand again?”

Sara reached out her hand to me.

“Sure. I’ll hold your hand. Have a good sleep.”

I took hold of Sara’s hand and sat down beside her.

“Okay, good night.”

“Yes, good night.”

After saying that, Sara closed her eyes.

And a few minutes later, she was making a lovely sleeping sound.

“Well, it looks like she’s asleep. But I can’t move from here.”

My hand was being held tightly by Sara.

If I tried to force myself away from her, I might wake her up.

It was a pity that she was asleep.

“Hahh~~. I think I’m getting sleepy too.”

Then I gave a big yawn.

“I think I’m going to need some sleep.”

I just plopped down on Sara’s bed.

I could feel Sara’s scent in my nostrils, but eventually, I let go of my consciousness.

The next morning, I woke up to the light coming through the window.

“Mmm. …”

Apparently, Sara had also woken up.

“Ohayo.”

“Heh, ah, hai, Ohayo Gozaimasu.”

Sara looked surprised.

“How are you feeling?”

“Ha, yes, I think I’m feeling much better. More importantly, I’m sorry. Was I holding your hand the entire night?”

“Oh, don’t worry about it. I also laid down.”

Sara was always alone, even when she was sick.

Being a mother-and-child family, there were many days when her mother was at work and could not come home.

Even though she was lonely, Sara had forgotten how to be pampered to the point that she couldn’t say she was lonely.

But she had met Haruki, and as time went on, that too had changed, though little by little.

Now, it was no exaggeration to say that Haruki was the only person whom she let spoil her.

“Yeah, your fever seems to have gone down quite a bit.”

I placed my hand on Sara’s forehead and said.

“Hai.”

“Well, just measure it.”

Then I handed her the thermometer.

The thermometer made a beeping sound and read 36.8℃. (Editor: 98.24F, 98.6F is the normal temp)

“Yes, the fever seems to have gone down. But you’re going to have to rest again today.”

“Yes, I understand.”

Sara then smiled.

“Hey, Nii-San.”

“Na? Nani?”

“I love you. …”

Sara said while half hiding her face with the quilt.

I couldn’t help but blush at that.

“A-Arigato. Keep up the good work.”

“Hai!”

Sara smiled with a smile that could only be described as sunshine.

Her smile, illuminated by the sunlight, was very beautiful.
