Moments later, Nina poked her head through the curtains.

“Is the talk over?”

“It’s over.”

He replied softly while Nina jumped lightly and hugged him tightly. Adrian asked with a small smile.

“Why? What happened?”

“I think the Duchess of Brevan is unusual.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

Nina recounted her meeting with the Duchess briefly and added.

“She said she would introduce me to Alka.”

“The spirit contractor? Alka, the Rose Fairy?”

“Yes.”

Rose Fairy Alka.

Theron, the master of the storm.

Both were spirits contractors, but they were wandering beings, so Adrian’s informants could not gather much information.

I was wondering if there would be a day we could face each other since we are all spirit contractors, but I didn’t expect a seat to be made through Duke Brevan’s wife.

“Nina.”

“Yes?”

“I have something I want to tell you today.”

“What is it?”

“I’ll tell you when we go back.”

Nina looked up at him while in his arms. Adrian just calmly smiled, as always. She pulled away and said.

“All right.”

Sensing something in his voice, Nina made a serious face.

“Shall we go back?” (Nina)

“Isn’t it just the beginning of the Grand Ball?” (Adrian)

“I see, we have to give other people time to enjoy themselves too. All right.”

“Leave the next dance spot empty.”

“All right.”

Nina giggled and walked out on the terrace. Adrian sighed once and followed her.

Now the dance tunes on the floor were changing rapidly.

Dancing while standing facing each other in two rows and changing partners consecutively was popular. It was a repetition of dancing in two rows, turning in a circle in groups of five or six, and then returning in the two rows.

As soon as the line was created, you could jump in and start dancing.

Nina jumped between Kell and Raja. The two looked at the person who pushed in and popped their eyes out

Kell smiled broadly, and Raja had a face of embarrassment.

“Since Charlotte said it’s okay to go and dance…”

Raja made excuses.

“Then that’s all right.”

Nina said so and went around once arm in arm with another partner. She danced from one group to another, and in an instant, the floor began to fill up.

It was because it was a rotation dance, so it was possible to dance with Nina even once.  If you were standing next to or in front of her, anyone can also try talking to her at least once.

Low-ranking nobles, who had no ties with the great nobles, were eager to make up stories to talk about, such as ‘I danced with the swordsman Nina’ and ‘I exchanged my regards with her’.

Nina smiled and gently responded to everyone who spoke to and complimented her, and made everyone go back with good memories that they will cherish.

Once the dance song started, it lasted about 30 minutes, so people were free to go in and out.

Nina danced enough and got out. Charlotte came with a cold drink.

“Are you having fun?”

Charlotte’s voice was excited as she asked that question. Nina nodded her head.

“Yes, it’s fun. Thank you, Charlotte.”

“No, it’s nothing.”

“Why don’t Charlotte go and dance too? I don’t think we’ll need an escort today.”

“I have no particular interest in it.”

“I see.”

Laughing slightly, Nina stroked her fluffy hair. Charlotte blushed and lowered her head, but she soon stretched out her hand, as if she had gathered the courage.

“Would you like to dance to a song with me?”

“Yes, when the dance song changes, Charlotte is number one. Let Adrian be number two.”

Nina whispered in a small voice, and Charlotte smiled brightly.

The members in black uniforms were easy to spot. While Nina was looking for Jean, she found an interesting sight.

He was talking with Saint Lucrezia.

Charlotte, who had grasped where Nina’s gaze had gone, shifted her gaze to that side and reported.

“He was surrounded by the ladies and fled to the garden, but he returned with the Saint.”

“Um, he doesn’t look good.”

Jean looked like he was about to explode. Surprisingly, however, Lucrezia also had a bad expression on her face. It seems that she rarely shows an honest expression, so Nina was quite amazed.

‘Jean does have that bit of effect on others…’

His straightforward frankness draws out candor from the other party as well.

Even so, what are you talking about to make that face?

Nina pondered whether she should go to intercede or leave the situation to Jean. Then, Pan was seen approaching the two with a drink.

‘Ah.’

Nina was relieved and somehow proud. Even without the Boss’s instructions, the knights looked after and covered for each other.

After Jean emptied his drink in one breath, he politely greeted Lucrezia and left.

Pan seemed to be taking the place and while Lucrezia said something to Pan, she returned to her usual smile.

She too greeted him with wide-open arms, and moved away from Pan, returning to her party. Edgar, standing in place like a pillar, caught her eyes. Nina wanted to slap him.

Fiona needs him right now, what the hell is he doing over there?

Suddenly, the words of Delia, Duchess of Brevan came to mind.

She said it’s a good thing to be responsible, but they don’t think about the other person because of that responsibility.

That’s exactly what he was doing now.

I could see Jean rushing through the ballroom and leaving the door as if escaping. Nina wanted to chase after him, but the performance changed in a timely manner.

Charlotte said.

“You can go after the vice-commander first.”

With the characteristic smile of a person familiar with this kind of thing, Nina grabbed her hand and pulled her away.

“Charlotte comes first.”

Charlotte’s mint-colored eyes went round and she let out a happy laugh. Nina was able to dance joyfully as Charlotte proved to be great at the man’s steps.

After a face-to-face greeting, Charlotte escorted Nina off the floor. Adrian was waiting.

He entrusted his cane with the staff and took Nina’s hand. It was a more complex song than the first song they danced to.

“You will spare my foot, right?”

Adrian laughed at Nina’s promise.

“Of course.”

Now accustomed, Adrian skillfully led Nina. It was good enough to make up for the awkward dance they had earlier.

Their steps got tangled softly and smoothly. They get closer to each other as if their toes were touching and then move away from each other while their thighs seem to touch slightly and then fall.

The steps cross inward and outward of the foot.

There was a sense of unity as if they were in sync with the song, focusing on each other, and even blinking their eyelashes to the tempo.

Nina’s twirling skirt repeatedly curled and loosened around his legs.

Often boldly, his legs pressed in against her skirt, but Nina’s steps seemed to seducingly slip through.

On the wide rectangular floor, only this pair seemed to be in another dimension. The two finished dancing and looked at each other.

‘Our hearts must be beating at the same beat.’

Nina thought so.

With a slight blushing face, Nina grabbed the hem of her skirt and greeted Adrian as he bowed his head and greeted her face to face.

People approached her as they left the floor and some even applauded the two.

“We were perfect, right?”

At Nina’s sighing words, Adrian replied, “I think so.”

Taking the cane from the attendant, Adrian called the person holding the champagne.

After drinking the golden liquid from which bubbles rose, Nina gladly accepted an incoming dance request.

While she was dancing with the men, the song changed and the women danced in pairs, wrapped around each other’s waists.

The girls in ruffled dresses danced round and round on the floor, holding each other’s waists while laughing.

The drumming to the beat got faster and faster.

In the end, the dance ended with a loud laugh as one of them stepped on their feet and everyone came to a complete stop.

The girls, with their flushed cheeks and sparkling eyes, now headed to the lounge.
