Chapter 23

TL-Mechatronic

After that, two days passed, and three days later, he became worried. Then Nina returned with an elated face.

Compared to her, the unicorn’s herd leader, from how they first saw it, seemed to have lost some of its proud air somewhere. Saliva flowed down the corner of the mouth, and its black body was full of bubbles caused by sweat.

Nevertheless, the leader still looked dignified.

The horn rising above its head gave off a beautiful glow like a black pearl, and its graceful appearance was more outstanding than any other horse.

Besides, he is one hell of a big guy.

Jean whistled unknowingly.

Nina popped out of the unicorn, and while looking from side to side, she said.

“I’m exhausted. My whole body is covered in sweat and sticky.”

“That’s because you have been holding on to this big guy. You sure have great stamina.”

A unicorn who has the stamina to run for three days is great, but Nina who kept up with it was nothing less than a miracle.

“I’m starving, sleepy, and want to wash up. Bath, bath.”

“Let’s eat first and sleep. I don’t think you will be able to sleep because you’re famished.”

While Jean was preparing the meal, Nina washed the unicorn in a nearby stream.

Jean was surprised to find Nina coming back alone and asked.

“How about the unicorn?”

“Huh? He went to rest with his colleagues.”

“Did he run away?”

“No, he lost once. So he won’t flee.”

Nina shook her head while drinking the porridge boiled by him, but Jean still felt a little uncomfortable

What if it ran away and never came back?

Nina fell asleep as soon as she ate, he wondered if she even knew of his worries. Jean covered the snoring Nina with a blanket and watered the collected plants so that they would not dry.

The next morning, as the sun rose in the middle of the sky, Nina woke up slowly while eating the meat and nuts that Jean had prepared.

“I want to wash up, but can I bathe with the water from around here?”

Over the years, they accumulate knowledge of what kind of animals and fruits of the Violet forest could be eaten.

The same goes for water bodies. However, since they had never been here, they were not sure if there was a source of freshwater around.

“We have to leave here first to wash up. It’s dangerous.”

Jean shook his head, saying, “Come on!” Nina couldn’t help but agree to that.

“But the unicorns were okay…….”

“Are we the same as them?”

“That’s true.”

Nina nodded.

After packing her luggage, she made a circle with her thumb and index finger and whistled.

Fweep!

A long, sharp sound rang out, and shortly afterward, a horseshoe sound was heard.

“If you call it, he really comes.”

Jean was amazed and opened his eyes wider. It was not the sound of only one or two hooves.

When he saw the head unicorn lead the whole herd, Jean opened his mouth wide. Nina slapped him on the back and said,

“Then let’s go back.”

Because they had to drag a herd of unicorns back, they went around the road to avoid the village, but the speed of their mounts was tremendous, so there, was no delay in their usual arrival time.

The normal horses that followed without luggage were so far as to the point of falling behind.

Jean also picked a single unicorn for him to ride and was thrown away several times. Still, maybe it was because their leader was overpowered, he was able to barely climb back up with his saddle and rein in it.

“Wow, that’s amazing.”

Jean repeatedly fired amused exclamations and remarks while making the unicorn move forward and then walk sideways. The unicorns could follow the instructions after only being taught two or three times, in comparison to normal horses that had to be taught since they were foals.

He giggled and stuck near Nina.

“When you enter the castle, everyone will be surprised. Is there a stable for all of them?”

“We will need to find a ranch. I’m going to find the right person and leave it to him.”

“The unicorns?”

“Yes, I have to cross-breed the horses and create a new lineage.”

“Oh, well. It is quite difficult to deal with them as it is. I’m riding, but you never know when you take your eyes off them.”

Nina, who overpowered the leader, is by his side, so the one Jean was mounting is obedient, but if she disappears, it may blow up the person on board right away.

Jean muttered, looking at the horns of the unicorn he was riding on.

“So, are they going to belong to the House of Luverne?”

I didn’t even know how much it would cost if a foal was born as a unicorn hybrid. I only guessed it would be expensive enough to pop out my eyes.

“That’s right. It’s only the beginning. We have to supply and demand within the territory before we move on to the next stage.”

Jean nodded at Nina’s words.

“That’s true.”

“Maybe in the next five years.

Five years until the appearance of the heroine,

In the meantime, I would have the horses covered somehow.

“Now what’s important is the plants that have been carefully grown.

Nina grinned and looked at her bags.

“Come to think of it, we will also need to grab another top merchant to sell this. Should we raise it ourselves instead of hiring one?’

That way we don’t have to pay the commission to the merchant guild.

I’ll talk to Adrian.

Nina made up her mind and picked up speed. Thanks to this, it took only half of the time to come back. Jean felt physically exhausted, but on the other hand, he was amazed again.

‘There is little vibration.’

Breathing is important when riding a horse. You need to keep your balance with the upper part of the body and move the lower part to match the shaking of the horse. However, the unicorn was able to save most of the physical strength of the person riding because there was only a little vibration when riding it.

Other cavalries won’t be able to keep up with us for sure.’

Still, he felt like dying because of the long ride. Jean shook his head as he arrived in front of the castle and got off the unicorn.

“Wow, I will die. This is crazy. I don’t even know what’s hurting anymore after riding all day long. Wow, waist! Thigh! Hip!”

When Jean grumbled with trembling legs, Nina smiled.

“Don’t worry, don’t worry. If you get trained from now on, you’ll say that this much is boring.”

“What training?”

“You told me to teach you swordsmanship.”

Nina said those words with her gold eyes wide open, Jean was confused “Oh, that training. What does it have to do with horseback riding?” But Nina only had a dark smile.

All the people in the castle came out to see the herd of unicorns. When the stablekeeper saw the giant animals, he became as white as paper.

“Just put them in a stable and give them a lot of beans. I don’t think it will take you long. Make temporary stables for now.”

“Y-yes.”

She handed over the reins of the leader to the keeper while dismounting it, but the leader tumbled his head and pulled the reins out of the man’s hands.

Nina smiled and said to the stable keeper.

“I think you can just go. It will follow up.”

“Huh? Y-Yes…….”

Awkwardly, as the keeper began to walk, the leader proudly raised his head and followed with a light step.

“It’s really following me.”

The frightened stableman muttered and quickened his pace. When the leader started walking away, the rest of the herd followed suit. And so did the admiration of the spectators that also followed the scene.

“Oh my God, unicorns.”

“I thought it was a creature that appeared only in legends.”

“Not even one of them, but it’s a whole herd like that.”

“It’s awesome.”

“It’s huge. I think one can pull up to three carts alone.”

“I know right, wow.”

The onlookers followed the unicorns with their tongues sticking out. Nina, who gave her loads of luggage to Jean, shrugged her shoulders and headed into the castle.
