I Became A System

The three elders of the secret magic society suddenly felt a strong aura coming from the west of the continent. And just as they were the powerful magicians on the continent, they knew that this aura coming to their land was something different from them.

"What do you think of that aura? It was too otherwordly, unlike the dimensional chaos." One suddenly expressed his thoughts.

"Well, I don't feel any malicious intent from it. And they are still a few thousand kilometers away." Another one stated.

"Yep. Let's greet them. We've been hiding for years. It won't be bad to take over one small country just to greet them."

"Don't joke about it. It isn't funny. However, I think it is really better to greet them." One said.

"Okay. I agree with you. Let's also try to visit the ancient dot. The temple isn't doing its job. At least that's why we left them without taking revenge by doing it instead of us since we have the ability to do it."

"Understood. Let's go before they arrive. Perhaps it was their reason for visiting our continent."

Aaron sighed as soon as he finished checking his status in different systems. There had been no particular changes in the past few weeks that had passed. 

They just found a good candidate for the manager of the organization branch, which is their house for the meantime. But it wasn't really a huge change. That's what Aaron thought.

All of it was within their expectations, and so, Aaron wasn't thinking that it would do much for their progress. 

However, Aaron was thinking something. After giving swords to the organization and some weapons for their use, the citizens of Phlabian City started to be curious about their swords.

Not only because it is rare to see and in good condition and effects, but also because it has a unique aura that no one, including blacksmiths, has ever seen.

It might not be a good choice to spread it throughout the organization, but it also has an advantage since it can be a signature detail that people should know about the organization.

'It wasn't that much, but at least I found it entertaining. I wonder if things will be better after we leave Phlabian.'

In that whole month, preparations were done. The new headquarters of "The Black Summons" was already finished, as were the paper works of the branch in the capital.

It was all good till now, not until S-rank monsters dared to attack Phlabian City.

At Murphey's residence, Ellena wore her mask as she sat with the officials of the city.

In a meeting room, all of their faces hinted that they were all under stress, restless after the sudden attack that came from nowhere.

"I don't think this will be easy to manage. The HQ of the adventurers' guild could not see any signals of overflowing near the city. And also, just a few weeks ago, the population of monsters was decreasing." Verxal said as he reported a brief introduction of the information he gathered.

"Thank you, Verxal. But do you think that the HQ can send us a reinforcement?" Rodrigo Murphey asked.

"They will send a reinforcement; however, it will be just five Platinum Rankers since there are also plenty of overflowing dungeons appearing since last year," Verxal explained.

The meeting continued, but Ellena and Aaron were just silent, thinking on their own about how to assess the situation.

The attack was too sudden, and the city has suffered a huge loss since that attack. After a month of peace, Aaron was facing a calamity that they needed to overcome.

'SS-rank monsters as well as a swarm of S-rank monsters. How could this city, known as the adventurers' haven survive this powerful attack? It wasn't a result of an overflowing dungeon, but it's obvious that it was from demons.' 

Aaron was trying to conclude the information he had. It was all lacking, but it was enough for him to gather some thoughts about it.

"Too sudden..." Aaron remarked that took Ellena's attention.

'What do you think about this?' Ellena asked.

"It was good that we didn't leave the city yesterday. If we left the city, we would just hear from other people that Phlabian City was down." Aaron said.

If not for Ellena and her organization, the city wouldn't have a chance to keep the city safe. 

Even if the monsters retreated, it wasn't safe to think that there would be no second time.

'Yes, I think it will be better if we take the root. Can you help me?' Ellena asked.

"Of course," Aaron said as if the both of them had just thought the same thing.

The meeting between the officials continued. Ellena was just silent, going with the flow as their decisions weren't wrong and were best for the citizens.

A week before the attack in Phlabian City...

In the Capital of Phobious Territory, Balutte City...

"Should we send a reinforcement, Master?" asked a butler of Ricardo Phobious.

Ricardo Phobious just shook his head.

"No need. Greed's reign will come to an end regardless. He stepped on a mine. That kid Ellena will surely be able to drive away his fingers." Ricardo Phobious confidently said.

"But may I ask, Master? Why do you believe in Miss Ellena? Do you think she's one of them? She has incredible growth speed that one can't comprehend."

Ricardo just sighed as he looked at his subordinate while thinking of an answer.

"Nah... She won't be like them. She's too just, so it's impossible. However, why do I believe in her since the grudge with Greed will be her foothold and also her foundation in the territory? I will help her."

"Help? You won't be going to control her?"

"You are too greedy... It's bad to think that we'll control her. Obviously, she's one of a kind, cursed child. Even I, who was a cursed child, couldn't believe that she was too strong."

The butler just didn't respond after that. As Ricardo was thinking deeply, he just moved backward.

'The seniors didn't tell me the truth, but I did learn things while observing her. She's going to be helpful for the greatness of this territory, and if she wants to at least have a name of her own, I will help her.'

Just thinking about it, a memory flashed back into his memory. It was a memory from 2 years ago when he was diving in an overflowing dungeon.

It was just a normal dungeon dive. However, when they were inside, the dungeon turned into a different one. As it was normal for an overflowing dungeon to have plenty of monsters, this time, when they entered, there were fewer monsters.

It was too suspicious, but his team didn't leave the dungeon. 

The dungeon was like a vast grass field with a slight breeze of wind touching their skin.

Before they entered the dungeon, they had already killed every monster. That's why when they got in, they were expecting more monsters because the classification of the dungeon said that it must have plenty of monsters.

'It was weird. But being unknowledgeable of new things, I became ignorant that I should've raised my guard higher.'

In an instant, a swarm of monsters appeared. It was still away from in the grass field of the dungeon, however, there were plenty of monsters that the small team Ricardo had couldn't think of fighting.

After a few seconds, a fight broke out. But, not expecting it, their team won.

"Hooo... I wasn't expecting a human to be this powerful." A sudden voice resounded from nowhere.

All of them were bothered by it, and because they were alarmed as well, they raised their tired muscles with weapons in their grasp.

"Where are you?!" Ricardo Phobious exclaimed while his senses were still at the top.

His team looked everywhere, but they couldn't find the source of the sound.

"You are a greedy human. I should use you."

And just like that, Ricardo Phobious suddenly felt something entering his body.

His team was baffled and was afraid of what was happening to him. Ricardo Phobious suddenly squirmed in pain, holding his temple and heart.

They calmly resolved it. Even though it was only outside, at least it wouldn't burden their master's condition.

They didn't continue searching for the voice; instead, they carried him out of the dungeon. And just when they were outside the dungeon, everything went back to normal. 

Ricardo Phobious was now in a normal state. And as everyone finally left the dungeon, they asked their master what happened.

Ricardo Phobious didn't know what to answer. He was still overwhelmed by what he had just experienced. 

The pain was as if someone was tearing his brain and heart inside.

"You... Ricardo Phobious! How did you overpower my control?!"

Ricardo Phobious suddenly heard a voice, but everyone didn't hear it. And just as he was looking for it, he suddenly stopped at the rift.

'Who are you?'

"You don't have the right to question me! I am the Sin of Greed, one of the Mightiest Seven Deadly Sins of the Demon World! How did you escape my control?!"

Sin of Greed? It was a question that Ricardo Phobious was entertaining.

'Did he read through my memories? How does that monster know my name?' Ricardo Phobious pondered.

There were no threats. He was sure of it as the pain stopped when they left the dungeon. However, Ricardo Phobious was still bothered and curious.

'Sin of Greed.'

And just after 2 years and a half, he remembered that name when a subordinate reported that someone with the name "Sin of Greed" was the reason why a village was suddenly attacked by one person.

"Where is that person?" Ricardo Phobious asked.

"Please forgive me, Master. His body died, but for some reason, one of my comrades turned like him, calling himself by the same name. We still don't know what happened since he escaped. But we suspect it might be a possessing ability, " his subordinate reported.

"Don't worry about it. I will also look for a way to capture that monster."

'How could this happen? Sin of Greed that tried to take over my body 2 years ago.... Was it the same with the person who killed the villagers and also took over one of my subordinates' bodies? I must look for an answer!'
