I created the Bureau of Anomaly Control

#123 - 121. Scene in the Fog (asking for monthly ticket~)

Chapter 122 121. Scene in the Mist (Seeking Monthly Tickets~)

Inside Witt Castle, Mann was heading underground.

Eight anomalous items.

[Tier Ⅲ Anomaly Value: 5]

Mann converted seven of them directly into anomaly values upon obtaining them, expanding Witt Castle into an Anomaly Control Bureau branch, leaving only one potentially useful anomalous item and two containment rooms for his own use at any time.

[

The remaining six anomalous items were all made by Shana. Although the Control Bureau could confirm that they had no problematic anomalous properties, Mann still didn't keep them. His current characteristics were already close to his limit, and none of these items contained characteristics worth replacing or solidifying.

Moreover, Shana's generous gesture of giving him eight anomalous items made him somewhat wary. Unless they were certain about what he did during the Hunting Ritual, there was no reason to give him such a generous reward.

But their attitude didn't seem to indicate that they knew the truth, more like Shana had some special affection for him.

At least, that's how she acted.

Mann walked down the last step, officially entering the underground floor of the castle.

Before him was a spacious hall, the ground covered in dust, without even the traces of mice or other animals. A dozen skeletons that had been lying there for two centuries leaned against the wall, their empty eye sockets staring at the air in front of them.

"You succeeded," the wraith Isabella appeared before him. "I can feel that the seal is no longer under my control. Even the greatest wizards would find it difficult to do this."

Mann asked:

"Is this where you performed the sealing ritual?"

Isabella pointed to a skeleton that looked much shorter than her and said:

"That is my corpse, or rather, the earliest version of me. After these two hundred years, I am far more than just that ordinary noble girl. Memories from other dead are constantly eroding me and reshaping me.

"Less than half of me is composed of her now.

"In a few more centuries, I might even forget my mission forever.

"Fortunately, you have given me a chance for liberation now."

Mann asked:

"Have you decided to dissipate?"

Isabella smiled:

"Remember when I said that several members of the Salvation Alliance were buried here? Actually, I wasn't entirely honest then, because the truth might cause you misunderstandings, but it doesn't matter now.

"In fact, I was already on the verge of madness more than a decade ago. The hatred and resentment of the wraiths who died here were slowly destroying my will and persistence. From the perspective of those innocent victims, I could clearly feel how unfair this magic circle was to them.

"What right did I have to steal their souls?

"When I first met the Salvation Alliance, I had already become a wraith who only knew how to kill. I killed two of them, but it was because of this that their memories gradually calmed my soul.

"The other members of the Salvation Alliance also realized this through various methods and investigated the importance of the seal. Several low-level ability users with firm beliefs performed self-sacrifice here, they became a part of me forever and completely changed me.

"That's why I believed you the moment I saw Qin Lan.

"Because I remember."

Her figure flickered as she walked inside, stopping in front of a wooden door at the end of the hall. Mann followed her, and as she raised her arm, he could see intricate patterns carved on the door frame.

Isabella explained to Mann:

"This is the door leading to the underground. My father found the unstable spatial structure here before his death and transformed it into its current form with his friends. The seal on the door can make the space here look normal on both ends.

"But this is the truth I used to believe. After my death, this explanation slowly failed to convince me. And from my two hundred years of investigation in Witt Castle and various memories, my father lied.

"Father didn't find anything. This rift was opened by him and his friends together.

"They weren't protecting the world at all, but wanted to go to the underground world to find treasure, the so-called adventurers I mentioned last time. Father was an ambitious and powerful wizard, and the sealing procedure was just their insurance.

"They encountered a dying Titan in the underground world. Several Tier Ⅳ wizards racked their brains to defeat this Titan who had already stepped half a foot into the grave and brought his remains back to the surface.

"Greed is poison, and people always rush to drink it.

"The secrets within the Titan's body fascinated these wizards, but their research attracted the servants of the ancient Titans. Those monsters killed every wizard they saw at an alarming rate.

"My father and almost all of his friends died in the castle's laboratory.

"The last surviving wizard hid us in the basement. He struggled to drive the Titan's servants back to the underground world and completed the sealing ritual with us, burying the mistakes made by this group of arrogant wizards forever in the ground.

"Don't make the same mistakes as them."

Mann promised:

"We won't."

Even if Isabella's trust in him was built on lies, he couldn't casually open this passage unless he understood what the situation was with these former enemies of the gods.

She nodded:

"Then I no longer have to bear my father's mistakes.

"Thank you."

The ghost looked at Mann gratefully, her figure beginning to change and dim, and gusts of wind swept through the basement.

Countless wraiths drilled into her body, then turned into pure spiritual mist and dissipated into the air. Countless scenes flickered around Mann, most of them depicting Isabella's happy life when her family was still complete, and also the most cherished or hated scenes of other dead people flowing by.

But two bright flames suddenly flickered into existence, swaying with the flow of the mist, without a specific form, but Mann didn't need to think to understand...

Those were a pair of burning eyes.

He was staring at Him.
