I created the Bureau of Anomaly Control
#474 - 465. Little Devil
These past few days, the little devil had been searching for suitable tasks for his new boss, Mann. He knew that his performance this time would directly influence Mann's attitude towards him, so he was extremely diligent and proactive.
Perhaps his luck was finally turning around, because he had actually found a decent errand. Although he had identified a few passable jobs in the past few days, he wanted Mann to think he was even more capable.
Both his judgment and his speed were important.
So he immediately followed the usual procedure and arrived at the neutral meeting place.
Among the higher demons, not many were as gentle as Mann. Most of them descended into Hell with hearts full of vengeful fire, often looking down on all lower demons, wanting to solve problems with brute force, and rarely stopping to think about how to be more efficient before encountering difficulties.
If he could bring Mann back a satisfactory answer, he would have a chance to become his confidant, and a higher demon like Mann had a good chance of becoming a demon lord. If that happened, he would be a subordinate of a demon lord.
But as soon as the little devil pushed open the door and took a few steps inside, he sensed that something was wrong. He heard an unwanted noise from the direction he had just closed the door, followed by a strong hand grabbing his neck.
Then he felt nothing.
It was as if he had been knocked unconscious.
In the little devil's perception, it was only a few seconds before his neck and entire body were sending intense pain signals to his brain, forcing him to gradually wake up from his stupor.
"...Nice, we..."
"...Pry open..."
The little devil didn't hear what they were saying clearly, but he reflexively felt nervous and afraid. Then he slowly realized what was making him feel so...
Because he was familiar with the speaker's voice.
"He seems to be awake," Tonas said with a smile.
Hearing this, the little devil moved anxiously, struggling to open his eyes. As he expected, the two figures standing in front of him were Suwen and Tonas, and he was tied to a chair.
Suwen said in a slightly mocking tone:
"Looks like you think you've latched onto a big shot, thinking you can crawl out of the trash heap, and thinking you don't have to deal with small-time thugs like us anymore, huh?"
The little devil shook his head in fear:
"I didn't think that."
Suwen continued to scare him with a mocking smile:
"Too bad you chose the wrong person from the start. A fool who exposes his identity like that has no chance of making a name for himself in Hell. It's because he's so stupid that we decided to take action against him."
"But then again, if he were any smarter, he wouldn't look down on a low-level demon like you."
Hearing this, the boy's face flushed red, but given the situation, he didn't dare say anything. And the worst part was that deep down, he knew Suwen was right.
Ordinary higher demons would not reveal their identities like that, nor would they recruit a low-level demon like himself who hadn't shown any talent, and they wouldn't treat him with that kind of attitude.
Mann wasn't exactly the kind of guy who looked like he was destined to become a demon lord, but that kind of character wouldn't even glance at him. Letting him be a slave was already the best attitude that kind of demon could have. If he hadn't met Mann, he wouldn't have had any chance at all, and it was hard to say if he could even survive.
This was his only chance.
Maybe in Suwen and Tonas' eyes, Mann was one of the weaker higher demons, but for the little devil, Mann was the only higher demon he could actually touch and feel.
Although he often imagined his plans to climb up in the past, those thoughts were as illusory as dreams compared to what he had experienced since meeting Mann, but the current changes were so real.
The days he had fantasized about seemed to be coming.
Unfortunately, reality was much crueler than he imagined. When Mann said that sentence, he already had some bad premonitions, but at that time, he was still trying not to think about it actively, deceiving himself that it was just an insignificant episode that wouldn't affect anything.
Obviously, he was wrong.
"Where is your new master now?" Tonas asked in the same teasing tone, as if they were just casually chatting on the street.
Although the little devil couldn't hide his fear, he still kept his mouth tightly shut.
He knew what would happen if he told Suwen. They would find Mann and kill him, and at the same time, they would destroy all his hopes, and he might not even survive.
No matter what, he didn't want to lose this opportunity.
And he didn't want it to be taken away by them.
Suwen revealed a contemptuous smile:
"You think you're a tough guy, huh?"
Saying that, he didn't give the little devil a chance to speak, and directly raised his hand and slashed across the little devil's bound hand, cutting off his index finger directly, revealing a clean and beautiful cross-section, with blood and bone intertwined.
The little devil immediately screamed, his eyes instantly turning red, and his whole body trembled as he tried to break free from the ropes that bound him to the chair, but it was all in vain.
Before he could recover, Suwen stretched out his claws again.
Crack.
The boy's middle finger was cut off again at the first two joints.
A miserable scream instantly echoed through the room. The little devil proved with his actions that he was by no means a tough guy, and this made Suwen and Tonas smile.
"This is the least painful torture method," Tonas said in a pitying tone. "You don't want to know what we've prepared for you. We can play so many tricks with your remaining eight fingers."
"Just tell us, and you won't have to endure the pain."
At this moment, the little devil infinitely regretted not joining the Path of Ecstasy. If he had mastered the method of transforming pain into pleasure, he wouldn't be so unbearable now.
Seeing the boy's breathing slowing down, Suwen said condescendingly:
"Where is he?"
The little devil raised his head, staring at the two of them, and said:
"I don't know."
This surprised both Suwen and Tonas. They hadn't thought that the little devil would be so loyal to that newly appeared demon, nor had they thought that he could endure such pain and fear.
Because they hadn't noticed that what was reflected in the little devil's eyes at this moment was not other things, but something that all demons were extremely familiar with—deep hatred.
The little devil had never felt his true thoughts so clearly. The memories of being bullied in the past were churning and emerging at this moment, igniting the fire of revenge belonging to the demon in his heart.
Only such profound hatred could allow such a cowardly demon to persevere at this moment.
He hated Suwen and Tonas, hated his former self, hated the devil who tricked him into performing the transformation ritual, and hated this Hell that was always tormenting him.
This was the reason he wanted to climb up—because he wanted revenge.
Yesterday and today are a little shorter, tomorrow will be normal (just adjusted my schedule, mentally exhausted)
