#26 - Paladin on a Carriage
The next morning, Klein quickly left the hotel after making himself some bread and water.
Although it was still early, he didn't want to risk being late. He wasn't familiar with the capital, so it was better to prepare early.
When he got downstairs, pedestrians hurried past on the street, mostly heading in the same direction.
Next to Klein was a carriage, and two students preparing to ride were arguing with the coachman.
"Coachman, how much to the Royal Academy?"
"45 Rila each."
"45? You earn more than hunting magical beasts outside the city."
"If you're poor, get out of the way and don't interfere with my business. If you two don't ride, someone else will."
As he spoke, he saw Klein quickly walking up and nodded.
"Boss, want a ride?"
As soon as the coachman finished speaking, Klein took out a 1 Thale banknote from his wallet and handed it over.
"I'll pay you double the fare, but I need a window seat."
"Ah, sir, you're too generous. A window seat, you say? This way, please."
The two students who had been arguing with the coachman looked very unhappy. Klein's actions undoubtedly slapped them in the face.
Originally, they just wanted to bargain with the coachman, and they could actually afford the 45 Rila.
Now that Klein had done this, they were embarrassed instead. Klein didn't have time to argue with them and got straight into the carriage.
After getting in, he found that the carriage was already full of people, and they were all around his age, probably students as well.
"You, go sit over there, yes, you."
The coachman pointed rudely at a little girl sitting by the window. The girl immediately asked,
"Why should I?"
Klein stopped him, sat down next to the girl, and said,
"I'm sorry, I get carsick and wanted to sit by the window, is that okay?"
"Um, okay, but even if you're carsick, making a girl give up her seat isn't something a gentleman should do."
"I'm not a gentleman to begin with, is there a problem?" Klein said naturally.
"Huh? Is that wrong?"
"Wrong? Then should I do this?"
As soon as Klein finished speaking, he sat up straight, tilted his head slightly, bowed, and gave the girl an apologetic look.
"I'm sorry, beautiful lady, I'm really sorry for taking your seat. Is that how it should be?"
"Um, I guess."
"Then are you satisfied now?"
"Yeah, satisfied, wait no! You're faking it, you're not a real gentleman."
Klein shook his head helplessly and stopped talking.
The carriage quickly filled up, and a small carriage was packed with eleven people, making it very crowded.
Although Klein didn't like this kind of environment, there was nothing he could do about it now.
It was still a distance from the Royal Academy, and there was no other means of transportation. If he walked, he might be late, which would be counterproductive.
"Everyone sit tight, we're leaving, giddy up."
The carriage slowly swayed, while Klein looked out the window, thinking about the entrance exam.
The students on the bus were whispering in twos and threes, while others, like Klein, were staying alone and not talking.
After a while, the girl whose seat Klein had taken asked him suddenly.
"Are you also applying to the Royal Academy?"
Klein frowned, he didn't like this kind of small talk, so he could only politely respond.
"Yes."
The girl didn't seem to hear the perfunctoriness in Klein's tone and continued.
"My name is Becky, I'm a Holy Knight, what about you?"
"Holy Knight?"
Klein, who had already closed his eyes, looked at the little girl again.
"What do you think? I'm not only a Holy Knight, but I'm also about to become a formal professional. The word genius was created for people like me."
Klein curled his lips. He felt that this Becky was the type of person who liked to show off everywhere with a little bit of strength.
A Holy Knight was already the top profession. It was hard to imagine that this timid little girl was actually a Holy Knight, which was indeed a bit rare.
"Not bad, I guess."
Klein was silent again, what does it matter to me that you are a Holy Knight, really.
Seeing that her identity as a Holy Knight didn't seem to impress Klein, the girl was a little depressed. Am I not awesome?
"Hey, what's your name?"
"Don't look at me like that, people will misunderstand, my name is Klein."
Klein closed his eyes again without answering. Not long after, the carriage arrived at the gate of the Tyrrell Royal Academy.
Looking at the departing Klein, Becky nodded in satisfaction.
"Well, not bad, the Royal Academy should have a few more people who know me, continue."

After tidying up his wrinkled clothes, Klein looked at his destination, the Tyrrell Royal Academy.
Klein felt that, apart from the magic sculpture of the Tyrrell Royal Academy carved on the stone at the entrance, there was nothing special about this place.
Basically, it was similar to the university campus of his previous life, except that the area might be larger.
The students who came here to register, under the command of some teaching assistants, appeared to be very disciplined.
There was no way around it, these teaching assistants were all students who had graduated from the Royal Academy and stayed on.
Klein's second brother, Davis, was a teaching assistant at the Royal Academy, but Klein hadn't seen him yet.
The strength of the teaching assistants was at least Tier 2, which was too powerful for rookies like them.
Coupled with the deliberately released sense of oppression, the students who came to take the exam were as quiet as chickens.
Because the content of the exam was almost completely different, the new students were mainly divided into two groups: the warrior department on the left and the magic department on the right.
Klein followed the crowd and entered the interior of the Royal Academy.
Once inside the campus, a teaching assistant from the magic department quickly came over to group the crowd and arrange for these students to enter the testing classroom.
And the first test began.
… …
Klein saw the teacher in charge of testing in front, pointing to a crystal ball and saying to the student in front of him.
"What's your name?"
"Robes-Terrell"
"Come, put your hand on it."
The student nodded and placed his right hand on it.
As soon as his palm was placed on it, the crystal ball began to glow, followed by flames and lightning appearing inside the crystal ball.
"Good, very good, you have magic power, fire affinity, lightning affinity, very excellent."
The teacher nodded very satisfied, marked the person's name, and continued to ask.
"Are you willing to participate in combat?"
"Yes, I am willing, teacher."
"Good, very good, fill out this form and go over there, next."
… …
"Put your hand on it."
"No magic power, no affinity."
"Are you willing to participate in combat."
"I am willing, teacher."
"Okay, fill out the form, and go in for other tests later."
Becky is definitely not an insulting word, dear readers, please don't think too much.
