I have an eye of truth
#7 - Finally got an identity
Identity registration? I'm a non-registered person; how could I possibly have anything to prove my identity? If I did, it would only prove that I don't belong to this world, and that would be terrible.
Until now, Wang Yang hasn't figured out whether he's in another world or if his original world has mutated.
But now, people are already starting to line up, and Wang Yang can only follow along. He doesn't know why these people are so disciplined, without a hint of hesitation.
After getting in line, Wang Yang suddenly saw a familiar face.
"Uncle, you're here too," Wang Yang said tentatively, the person in front of him being the one who saved his life.
But as soon as Wang Yang spoke, a soldier next to him shouted, "Line up properly, no talking."
Wang Yang could only lower his head and shut his mouth, but his attention remained on the sunglasses-wearing uncle.
Finally, it was the sunglasses uncle's turn. "Name, occupation, do you have any identification?" the person in front asked officially.
The uncle said naturally, "Liu Xiao, firearms instructor, identification? No." The uncle was still carrying his sniper rifle, but the people around didn't seem to care.
Now Wang Yang understands a bit; perhaps for current technology, the deterrent power of firearms is too small. At least, it would take something like those laser guns to have enough deterrent effect.
"Another one without identification, never mind, just record it."
There's no choice; a sudden, devastating disaster has caused chaos throughout the city, and a large portion of the people rescued can't prove their identity.
Some people might be able to find something to prove their identity later, but many won't. With so many people, all victims of the disaster, the requirements aren't so strict.
Seeing so many people in front who couldn't prove their identity, Wang Yang finally breathed a sigh of relief.
He didn't expect to have benefited from the disaster; this disaster has solved his unregistered person problem. As long as he's careful and doesn't let anyone notice anything wrong, he'll be fine.
"Good, go over there; the reconstruction work might need you."
"Wait, I want revenge, I want to join the army, I don't want to stay here," Liu Xiao suddenly said loudly, startling the person opposite him, who then pulled out a form: "Good, very brave, sign your name on this, and someone will arrange things for you later."
Liu Xiao signed his name without hesitation, his eyes flashing with hatred.
Not long after, it was Wang Yang's turn. "Name, occupation, do you have any identification?"
The same routine; Wang Yang had heard it so many times that he almost instinctively replied, "Wang Yang, no occupation, and no identification." No occupation meant he was unemployed.
"Just graduated?" The person opposite him looked up at Wang Yang, thinking he seemed to be that age.
But they didn't pay much attention because there were many people without jobs. With the strong technological power of this world, many people spend their days playing or cultivating, and social security is enough for them to survive.
Wang Yang didn't say anything, just smiled; saying too much would easily expose him.
There are many common sense things about this world that he doesn't know; he's only heard a little on the road, which is definitely not enough.
"Wait, your situation is recorded; you've already awakened your ability, right? And it's a combat type; you'll need to undergo training next. After completing the training, you'll go directly to the battlefield."
Seeming worried that Wang Yang would refuse, the person opposite him said, "The pressure on the battlefield is relatively high now, so people like you must go; there's no room for argument." What could Wang Yang say? He could only nod.
The people behind heard quite a bit, but no one said anything, which probably meant this was normal.
Then, Wang Yang saw the person pull out a form and ask him to fill it out.
"Good, it's in Chinese," Wang Yang was relieved when he saw the form. He was really worried that after the global alliance was formed, they would unify the language or use other characters he didn't recognize.
Fortunately, China still uses its own characters, so there's no problem.
He readily signed his name, and Wang Yang was taken to the other side.
At this time, there were already many people waiting in this place. Wang Yang stepped forward: "Uncle, hello, my name is Wang Yang; you saved my life before, thank you so much. Without you, I would have died."
The sunglasses uncle glanced at Wang Yang and then extended his hand: "Hello, just call me Liu Xiao. You're welcome; saving people is what everyone with the ability should do. If you want to thank me, kill a few more monsters on the battlefield."
Seeing that the uncle didn't seem very sad, Wang Yang was a little surprised: "Why did Uncle Liu want to join the army? I remember you didn't need to, right?" Wang Yang had observed a bit earlier.
Liu Xiao said indignantly, "These monsters don't know what methods they used, but they were able to attack Earth itself. This is my hometown; so many people died this time, I must avenge them."
So it wasn't a family matter; avenging the people of his hometown, Wang Yang thought.
"You need to work hard too; the battlefield isn't easy to navigate. Even for ability users, you won't be of much use until you reach the formal level. For a long time, the main weapons you'll be using are these traditional firearms. By the way, I'm a firearms instructor; if you're not familiar with them, I'll teach you."
"Really? That would be great; I've never even touched a gun before."
Liu Xiao looked strange: "Never touched a gun? There are people like that? That's incredible."
"Haha, well, I've lived in remote areas since I was a child, so I don't know much about things, don't know much."
"That must be very remote; there aren't many places like that on Earth,"
Liu Xiao seemed to have thought of something, but he didn't say it. And Wang Yang knew he had made another mistake. With the current technological power of Earth, how could there be any remote places? The more he said, the more mistakes he would make.
Wang Yang decided that he should say less until he understood the situation.
But Uncle Liu was in high spirits now, saying to Wang Yang, "Do you know about the professional grading system?"
Wang Yang shook his head; what professional grading system?
Liu Xiao smiled: "Haha, you really don't know; let me tell you about it first, so you don't become a laughingstock later."
Wang Yang quickly nodded to express his gratitude: "Thank you so much, Uncle Liu."
