I Refuse to Take Medicine
Chapter 1
QinHan Media was a well-known entertainment company in China. This company had its own building, which was located in the prosperous business district that was hard to get as the surrounding land was expensive. There were numerous artists under this company, including movie stars, television stars, and singers. This company was also exploring new ways to cooperate with its stars.
Xiang TanWei was a popular idol singer in this company. He had a cultured and refined temperament, and his faint smile made him look like a son of a noble minister. His current hair color was light gold and black, and he always chose to dye his hair in colours that fit the theme of his album. The main characteristic of his songs was the fantastical healing type.
The industry’s evaluation of him was that his voice could touch people’s souls but his technique still wasn’t quite there. But it was a common belief that he would be magnificent in the music world in a few years.
With such a high evaluation, this popular idol singer just smiled modestly and tweeted on his social media account: “[adorable.jpg] I’ll work hard.” Also sent with the post was his selfie.
Just this one post attracted his fans and it was like dropping cold water in hot oil.
However, although he had nearly ten million fans, his fanbase was full of nutcases. And they were the type that was severely ill and could not be saved. They called themselves “Calculus”, which was derived from the last syllable of Xiang TanWei’s name and their love for him was quite extreme.
The first top comment was: “We will also work hard~”
The second was: “Oh, fuck. Every time I see TanWei, I want to pin him down. Don’t ask me why. [Goodbye.jpg]”
The third was: “If TanWei liked this post, I will write a million words story based on him. No take-backs.”
The fourth: “Hands slipped and I suddenly liked the post that said they want to pin TanWei down. [doge.jpg]”
The following tens of thousands of comments all shared the same nature. It made one unable to read them without blushing.
Fans of other stars all commented: “Husband, look at me, love me!” on the stars’ page. But when it came to Xiang TanWei, they all became: “I pinned TanWei down again last night. Shit, it was so wonderful-”
Xiang TanWei chuckled and threw his mobile phone on the table when he saw those comments.
He then said to his agent, Wu ZiQi, “Seriously, can you not just give me free control over my social media page? I want to make it so that my fans won’t be able to leave any comments. If you give me this chance, I promise to be really loyal to the company from now on.”
Wu ZiQi was wearing a dark blue suit and a pair of half-frame glasses rested on the bridge of his nose.
He said while browsing through the list of invitations for Xiang TanWei, “You should have been devoted to this company from the get-go. The company is already very kind to you. You said you wanted to make an album and we immediately contacted great artists to make you a golden album. The company also improved your treatment and prepared a new contract for you the moment you got popular. I actually suspected that you’re the chairman’s illegitimate child or something. Oh, wait. The new chairman is only a few years older than you, so you can’t be his child.”
Xiang TanWei lounged lazily on the sofa in the office. He replied, “I always thought the president is the chairman.”
Wu ZiQi rolled his eyes and said, “The chairman is the boss of the boss, okay? The board of directors consists of three members, including the siblings Wang JiaQi and Wang JiaRong. Each of them acts as the president and vice president respectively. Don’t you always know this?”
What a rhetorical question.
Xiang TanWei’s eyes flickered and he said with his voice drawn out, “A pair of siblings, a sister, and a brother–”
“Stop, stop. You can swallow your 3000 words essay back into your throat. If someone heard you, I may no longer be an agent and should resign.”
“I haven’t even said anything yet. How did you know what I wanted to say?” Xiang TanWei was dissatisfied.
Wu ZiQi just rolled his eyes. “This is why I’m your agent.”
A young woman with a ponytail entered the office at this moment and in her hands were two ceramic cups with their content still steaming. “TanWei, here’s your tea. Mr. Wu, your coffee.”
Wu ZiQi waved her over. “Xiao Jin, do you know what kind of shows young girls nowadays like to watch? Help me out here. I need some references.”
Xiao Jin the young girl replied, “Yeah, sure.”
Xiang TanWei once again voiced his dissatisfaction, “Hey, bossy Mr. Wu, Xiao Jin is my assistant. You can’t just order my assistant willy-nilly.”
Xiao Jin, however, just smiled brightly at him after hearing that. “It’s fine, TanWei. I’d love to help. I want your fans to see more of you.”
Xiang TanWei was comforted by her words and stopped complaining after letting out a hum. He then picked up the cardstock photos issued by a new magazine featuring another group from their company and turned them over while commenting on them in his mind.
Oh, this is the duo 2to2. They signed the contract with the company around the same time I did. Gee, these two were with the company’s directors the last time I saw them.
Oh, if this was to be performed in a Shakespearan format, it’d be something like this : [The siblings were on their knees, reaching out one of their hands to the directors while the other hand was on their chest. “Director Wang, oh, my Director Wang, I would like to ask you if you’re free to discuss the content of the newly signed contract with me.”
One of the brothers beseeched, “Oh, Director Wang, you are as magnificent as the stars in the sky. Please grant us, the dirt, a little of your time~”
Director Wang JiaQi then said, “Oh, you poor and lovable people. How could anyone just leave you guys hanging there? Let’s discuss this in my office, come with me~]
The scene in his mind was too funny that Xiang TanWei had to close the photo album with a smack before taking a deep breath. He then cackled as he rose from the sofa.
Xiao Jin was focused on her task; comparing the invitations TanWei received when she heard his laughter. She then whispered to Wu ZiQi, “Mr. Wu, it seems TanWei had started his mind theater again.”
Wu ZiQi rolled his eyes until only the whites could be seen as a response. “He’s suffering from a severe daydreaming disease. You can only save him by drowning him.”
