I Reincarnated As A Stone
Chapter 49 - First epilogue
We finally arrived at the town. Aeldrya found a great method to get me in without being noticed. Undoubtedly, it was a much better one than I came up with for Limy… She made me go through the whole town kicking me. From time to time she let out a cry because I gave her a shock of the parasitize just at the moment that her foot touched me. Everyone was staring at her, this made her even angrier and started kicking me harder. She ended up being watched by everyone as a dangerous madwoman. Just imagine the situation, an elf with a completely red face, half watery eyes, and a strange deformed laugh, kicking a stone all over the place. Obviously, all this was happening while Limy kept moving under her clothes... I had nothing to do with that part... I swear...
The first thing we did was buy new clothes for Limy. It was a simple typical "Villager A" set, almost identical to the one she had worn thus far. Limy emerged from under Aeldrya's clothes, transforming back into the blue-haired girl with pigtails and put the clothes on. A deep sigh could be heard from the perverted elf after that. I honestly don't know if it was a sigh of relief or sorrow... Then we went straight to the inn.
"If you give me a cramp again, I'll break you to pieces," Aeldrya threatened as she held me in her hand.
"You can let me go now. I can hide inside Limy again."
"No, now you will tell me what you are, and don't try to escape before making everything clear."
"If there is no choice..."
In the end, I had to tell her some details. I avoided the whole part that I was previously human and from another world. Luckily, I was able to use the best excuse to avoid talking about everything else: "I don't remember anything!". Although I didn't actually say that. I simply told her that my memories started the day I woke up in this world. I also avoided telling her the part of me being a dungeon core, but I had the feeling that this elf already supposed what I was. After all, Limy and I talked about her being my monster in front of Aeldrya. There are not many things that allow one to create monsters.
"I understand..."
The elf was looking at me with a furrowed brow and a clear sign of doubt.
"Well... I suppose that now that you know the truth... the best would be each of us going by our own path..."
"No, for the moment you will accompany me back to Cerbalon. Limy, monster or not, is still my apprentice. If she disappeared right now I would give a pretty bad impression to the guild."
"I guess you're right about that."
"There are also many more things I want to ask you. Then I will decide what to do with you. I will think about whether I can still have a slime as an apprentice or if you better leave as far away from civilization as possible."
"I suppose there is no other choice."
At least she didn't attack us and didn't seem to intend to. Still, I would be vigilant in case she decided to do something against us.
Before we knew it, the sky had already started to get dark. Aeldrya looked exhausted. She wanted to rest as soon as possible. Not just her, Limy seemed to be tired too. They both ended up sleeping as soon as they lay down on the bed. For the first time, I saw Limy’s eyes closed with a sleepy face.
'Maybe slimes need to sleep every so often?'
Although I was quite concerned when I saw her sleep, I ended up calming down. She was sleeping so peacefully that all my doubts disappeared.
'It was probably a tough day and she needs to recharge. After all, she was the one that suffered the most damage. Sleeping is part of being alive.'
'I don't want to die again... but I don't know if I'm really living...'
I stared at the moon through the bedroom window. It was not different from the one on the Earth. That made me quite nostalgic.
‘I wish I could be human again.’
Even if I said that we should take different paths, I did not want to have to leave civilization again. Since I came to this world it has been non-stop suffering. Not one of my days could have been considered normal. I had bȧrėly achieved some relaxation when I found that city... in which there were also quite a few problems. I wished I could have a normal life again as any other human had...
[Limy has been released from creation limits.]
[Limy’s hidden ability awakened: Phagocytizing.]
‘Ah?!’
… Although being a stone had saved me from showing a very stupid expression at that moment.
‘What the hell is this?’
'Damn girl... when I think that nothing more she could do would surprise me, she does it again...'
I sighed in my mind and then put on a somewhat sad smile.
'At least I'm not alone.'
I looked again at the slime girl with whom I had shared my path for just a week, who had given me so many headaches and at the same time had made me love her more than my own life. The very girl that I created myself.
'Well, maybe it's not so bad to be a stone.'
