I Remember Love

18 There's Only One Thing You Are Missing

"Now, Sweetheart, do you think you think there is something you might want to say"

Luke could only stare at this man with blind fury. Shivering with anger and cold as he reached down to pick up his hoodie pulling it over his head. Never mind that Hunter had already seen his bound chest. Let alone..touched them. Luke couldn't help but turn red all over again just thinking about it.

Bloody hell!

Meeting the man's gaze as though he could literally make the man vanish just with his stare. If only he could burn right through him.

"All you need to know, is that I probably stronger than those losers downstairs, and your gang needs me."

Luke was tugging on his jacket at this point, angry, embarrassed and few other things he couldn't quite put his finger on. He was unsettled, his calm was disrupted and beneath the layers of anger there were feelings about to surface that he had fought years to bury and hide. He couldn't afford the distraction right now.

"Sure kid, you're pretty tough. There's only one thing you're missing, i bet you can guess what that is."

Hunter smirked then. Beneath that grin there there was an edge. He didn't like secrets and lies. Secrets got you killed on the street. They were leverage. Apart from that she was a f*cking girl!! There were no women in the foot soldiers. Women were distractions. Worse they were  conniving little backstabbers whose loyalty belonged to the highest bidder. How did he know she hadn't been planted.

His eyes narrowed dangerously, the previous smirk turning cruel as he shoved her against sofa in his office.

"You can tell me what you want, or I will make you talk"

There was an edge to Hunter's gaze Luke had not seen before. Unable to curb his response he flinched, his body shuddering as he felt Hunters knife dragging along the denim of his jeans.

Instinctively his knee went up, hitting Hunter where mattered most.

Dashing angry tears from his eyes, feeling a mix of both anger and embarrassment he fled the room, bumping into Cage as he left.

Moments later, Cage entered the room looking confused.

"Boss..Is there something you want to tell me?"

Cage was anxiously looking around the room. He had noticed the ripped shirt on the floor upon entering as well as Luke's agitated state as he fled. Cage cleared his throat, waiting for Hunter to regain his composure. Uncertain of what to think.

After a space of a few moments Hunter looked up to a very quizzical looking Cage. His right hand swung a cross his desk knocking the contents to the floor.

"Shut it Cage."

Cage could only lift a brow, he hadn't said anything. Not yet.

"Follow that kid, I want to know who she is and what she is up to! Now!!"

Cage was about to leave when he stopped a stunned expression filling his features, and somewhere beneath a sense of amusement.

Luke was a girl?

This was going to be interesting.

Luke in the meantime had left the clubhouse, a trail of snickers and laughter in his wake. It seemed the rest of the gang assumed he had had his ass kicked. The thought only seemed to agitate him more.

Stepping out of the warehouse he couldn't help but kick the bikes lined up outside. He glared at them as they tumbled over, one after another, like a row of dominos. Still his anger was not satiated. Prowling around the building he swung his fists, his rage making him oblivious to pain.

It wasn't really Hunter he was angry with though. That was the hard part. The person he wanted to hit the most right now was himself.

One by one the tears fell. Silent and deadly. leaving behind them a crack in Luke's carefully constructed facade. The walls were crumbling, reality was looming and Luke panicked. Striking the walls over and over until his knuckles bled and the physical pain blocked out his turmoil.

Luke had lost track of time there, outside the warehouse, by the time finished he had realized it was already getting late into the even.

The sun was just starting to fall down by the horizon and the first few stars were starting to peek out from the night sky. Unbeknownst him Cage sat somewhere in the distance watching this scene uncertain of what to make of it.

Luke couldn't control the rage that was building inside at his own weakness. The pain had helped some to clear his head but it had done nothing to satiate his growing blood lust. Paying no mind to his battered and damages hands he pulled out his phone.

"Hey Gramps, it's me, Amalia. I won't be making it home tonight."

There was a pause as he listened the person on the other end of the line and then:

"No no. It's just study ran late. So just gonna sleep here. Yep. Love you too Gramps."

The call had been short and sweet as Luke hadn't wanted to worry his grandfather. Shoving the phone into his pocket he pulled out his list, tonight he would start. With or without the help of the gang he was going to tear the city apart until he found the men he was looking for, then slowly he would make every last one of them pay.

Cage watched as the younger man left, his eyes wide having listened to the phone call. Hunter had been right. Luke was indeed a girl in disguise. Unfortunately he still had so many questions that needed answering.

He waited the space of a few to moments and once Luke was far enough into the distance he hopped on his bike to follow. Little did he know this night would leave him with even more questions.

At the same time, while Luke and Cage had just left the yard the sound of another motorcycle could  be heard pulling in.
