Kaiden and Gideon lay on the bed awkwardly. It was Gideon who insisted that Kaiden should share the bed with him and rest. But who knew it would be this hard to fall asleep?! Gideon glanced at Kaiden who was staring at the ceiling.

"Can't sleep?" Gideon asks him.

"I really can't leave my work undone" Kaiden says out loud in an exasperated manner.

"Why not?"

Kaiden turned to face Gideon. Even though there was some distance between the two of them, it was still close enough for Gideon to hear Kaiden's breath. Gideon gulped and Kaiden couldn't help but smile at him. To him, Gideon looked really lovely tonight and he wishes that he could stay like this.

"Well I promised my father that I would finish all of them as soon as possible" He briefly explained to Gideon who was still confused. Gideon knew Kaiden wouldn't promise anything without anything in return.

"In exchange for what?" Gideon stared at him with wide innocent eyes. If Kaiden were any more closer, he might be able to count Gideon's long lashes.

"Your safety" Kaiden reached out to push away a few hair strands from Gideon's face. Gideon didn't mind since he was more interested to know about the agreement.

"They... all know about my identity right?"

"They do"

"What was supposed to happen while I was unconscious?"

Gideon did not want to know but he has to. He needed to know in order to know why this guy was trying to protect him. He needed to know why he was willing to throw away his comfort for someone like him.

Kaiden hesitated at first to tell him what was supposed to happen. He didn't really care about the punishment he was going to receive for hiding this fact from the others. He also didn't care if his Aunt Valerie was going to be punished, well at least he thought he didn't care. But hearing that Gideon was supposed to be subjected to interrogation in the dungeons? He couldn't stay put. He felt like it was his fault, to begin with. No matter how many times Gideon says that it's not his fault, he can't help it. Thinking of that made him reach the conclusion;

'I really care about him'

"You were going to be interrogated like a prisoner of war. I won't go into detail about how they do it but just know I won't ever let you get hurt"

Gideon lets out a burst of laughter and Kaiden was surprised. He did not expect Gideon to respond in this matter.

"I can't believe I'm hearing this from the guy who chased me down all these years" Gideon jests with him. What response did Kaiden expect? That Gideon would accept this gladly? Regardless, if it means that he'll be able to see him laugh like this... he would accept any criticism.

"Just think of it as my atonement for terrorizing you all those years. But I'd still chase you around you know?"

Gideon wasn't sure of what message Kaiden was trying to throw at him. He grabbed one of the pillows and blocks Kaiden's face.

"Ah, we should really sleep" Gideon says as he turns around so that his back would be facing Kaiden. Kaiden put away the pillow, he had a smile on his face as he says "Good night, Gideon". Little did Kaiden know, Gideon felt flustered by his words.

'What exactly did you mean that you would still chase me around' He frowned as he hugged the pillow.

'This smells a little bit like Kaiden...' Those were his last few thoughts as he dozed off.

Gideon woke up to light hitting his face. When he opened his eyes, he noticed the other side of the bed was empty.

"You could have at least woken me up" he frowned as he stared at the empty spot.

"You were sleeping so comfortably" Kaiden suddenly answered.

"WAH!" Gideon nearly had a heart attack when he heard Kaiden speak.

'BESIDES THAT WHY IS HE?!'

It seems like Kaiden just got out of the shower and was shirtless with a towel around his neck.

"W-why are you shirtless?" Gideon stuttered out a question. Wait, they were both guys... why is he so flustered? Maybe it's because-

'WHY AM I THINKING ABOUT INDECENT MEMORIES AGAIN?!'

Gideon wanted to punch himself. He thought that he finally snapped after that incident and now seeing Kaiden half-naked was enough to remind him of that. His face felt warm and besides that...

'WHY IS IT UP?'

"I just took a shower, are you alright?"

"yes!" Gideon answered, he still was hugging the pillow.

"Your face is red, do you still have a fever?" Kaiden tried to walk closer to him and Gideon internally panicked even more.

"N-No! I just feel a little warm, I just need to wash my face" Gideon states as he moves away from Kaiden little by little up until his back hits the headboard of the bed.

"You sure?" Kaiden was wondering why Gideon was panicking out of the blue.

"Yes yes... Um, I just wanted to ask about the favor from last night? regarding the phone charger"

'Please let me change the topic!!'

"I haven't asked for it yet since I didn't want to take your stuff without permission. I can-"

"Yes! Please do it right now" Gideon smiles at Kaiden. He needed to shoo Kaiden away so he could run into the bathroom.

"um okay? The bathroom is that way, I'll come back in a little bit" Kaiden pointed to a door before he walked up to a drawer to grab a shirt. He was buttoning it up as he walked towards Gideon's side again to grab the cellphone and then he left the room.

As soon as Kaiden left, he immediately ran to the bathroom and locked the door behind him. If he just had clothes to change in, he would have cooled off in the shower instead of... 

"Ugh"

The thought of him needing to do something indecent this early in the morning made him shudder in disgust.

"You're in an awfully good mood this morning Kaiden" Luciel who had managed to catch Kaiden on his way back to his room.

Luciel heard that Gideon did not return to his room after last night's encounter. Meaning Gideon slept in Kaiden's room. Otherwise, why would his son be in such a good mood?

'That half-ling really using his succubus side to his full potential' It pissed Luciel off to see his son be used like this.

"If you're thinking I did something indecent, I didn't." Kaiden rolled his eyes in annoyance as his father walked next to him. He had to stop walking before walking any further.

"My son is so smart to catch on to what I was thinking... Then why are you so happy?"

"Because I get to be close to Gideon"

Luciel just looked at Kaiden who was dead serious as he spoke of this. He couldn't help but think;

'If I was like this to Ella, then would I still have her? Just like how Kaiden managed to save that kid from death multiple times?'

Luciel just smiled and patted Kaiden's head like a little kid. He didn't mind if his hair was still damp, Kaiden rarely let him be touched by anyone.

"I just hope you're making the right decision. But I'm here to ask you something else Kaiden" Luciel removed his hand from Kaiden's head and takes out a handkerchief to wipe his wet hand.

"What is it?"

"When are you planning to tell your friend about his Guardian's current situation"

Kaiden opened his mouth to say something but he immediately closed it. He did not know when was the best time to tell him about Stephen's Condition.

"You know if you keep on delaying it, he'll only resent you for not telling him any sooner. Especially when time is precious nowadays"

"I know... I plan on telling him today, I know that he wanted to ask why his guardian hasn't visited him at least once"

"If you can't tell him, you can always have someone else tell him the news"

Kaiden frowned and started walking. That idea was horrible, it would only look like he had been deliberately keeping him here. But his father was right, he needed to come clean soon.

When Kaiden returned to his room, Gideon was looking out of the window. He heard the door open and he turned around. Kaiden couldn't help but smile whenever he saw Gideon's face. How can he tell this person about that? But again, he needed to be honest.

"Thankfully one of the servants had the same phone as you but apparently this is an old model, why haven't you changed phones?"

"Even though Stephen and Auntie Theo gives me "salary" from helping around the bakeshop... I didn't really think I need to get a new phone when my current one is still functioning"

A sigh left Kaiden's mouth and he plugs the phone for it to charge. While that's doing its thing, he needs to talk to him.

"Gideon there's something I need to tell you about Stephen"
