I Transmigrated as the Cannon Fodder Villain

Gideon followed Kaiden into the Palace Gardens. The bushes were covered with a layer of snow. But the brick pathway looked like it was shoveled by the servants constantly. It looked like it was a winter wonderland with how beautiful the scenery was. But going back on the agenda at hand...

"So, what did you want to talk about?"

Gideon stopped his voice from shaking too much as he asked this question.

'Don't worry, he will never hurt you' that was what the voice from earlier told him.

Well, the voice was right in a way. Kaiden has not hurt him in any form except for that one time when he confronted him right after hiding from him for so long.

"It's regarding what happened a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure you got angry at me for suddenly walking out on you when it was just a misunderstanding"

Kaiden looked at Gideon straight ahead. He actually wanted to retreat and apologize that he just impulsively dragged him out here when the person obviously does not want to see him to the point of waiting out in a corner in case he was still in that room.

It really was a miracle that Gideon is here and is right in front of him. Just as long as he would hear him out as well as find out why Gideon did not want to see him last time. Kaiden looked down a little bit and saw Gideon's shaking hands.

Was it from the cold? or from fear of finally knowing what kind of person Kaiden was?

The last time he saw Gideon shake like that, he disappeared for 11 years. Would he disappear again this time around?

He could prevent it now but he wouldn't be any better than his father who manipulated his mother. Kaiden would indeed still see Gideon around but he will never see that bright smile of his if he keeps acting like this.

"It's fine, it was my fault anyway for trying to insist something just because of baseless rumors" Gideon rubbed his arms with his hands and looked down at Kaiden's feet.

"Then... why did you suddenly kick me out last time?"

Gideon did not speak up. Rather, he pursed his lips further. He actually didn't know but he just knew that he felt like Kaiden was going to do something the moment they were behind closed doors. It was a terrible thought to someone who was trying to tell him that he could have just said that he needed a break from things and even offered to go somewhere.

"Are you... Are you afraid of me?"

Kaiden's voice sounded so sad that it was kind of making Gideon guilty that he was. Gideon turned his head to the side, refusing to answer directly. Seeing this, Kaiden lets out a sarcastic chuckle and covered half of his face with one hand.

"I'll just take that silence as a yes. And I deserve it, truly" Kaiden licked his lower lip to wet it as he nodded and looked around for a moment to take in the situation.

"I'm sorry Kaiden" Gideon couldn't help but apologize since he didn't even want to be afraid of Kaiden. They were fine just a while ago, what happened?

"Don't be. It's just hah..." Kaiden felt like he was about to cry to hear that the person he was supposed to protect was now afraid of him.

He can't force Gideon to not be afraid of him. He shouldn't. He really shouldn't.

"Gideon... Deon" Those tears just started to fall on their own and Gideon stared at him helplessly.

"Like I said I really deserve this but it hurts so much to hear it be true. What can I do to fix it? I want to fix it!" Kaiden insisted and Gideon was startled a little bit when he suddenly shouted that he wanted to fix this situation.

"I don't know. I truly don't know what you should do" Gideon answered.

Kaiden wiped away his tears and marched forward to Gideon. He was surprised by Kaiden's actions and tried to back away. But this attempt was in vain for Kaiden already took a hold of his hand. The following series of events was enough to push away everything that Gideon had felt towards the prince.

Kaiden knelt down on the ice-cold ground. His hand was warming up Gideon's cold hand. He had his head lowered that it showed his neck. This position looked liked as if he was in total surrender.

"K-Kaiden get up, the ground is cold-"

"I, Prince Kaiden Lux Ferre, the son of King Luciel Lux Ferre, swear an oath" Kaiden began and Gideon's eyes widened.

"Kaiden stop it"

"I swear that I shall protect Gideon with the best of my abilities and that I shall never harm him with the intention of Malice" Kaiden continued to put this life-bound contract onto himself and Gideon knelt down as well to grab a hold of Kaiden's face.

"I DON'T ACCEPT THIS KAIDEN!"

This was simply too much! Although it guarantees that Kaiden will never hurt Gideon unless Gideon tells him to do so. And in the case that Kaiden wanted to hurt him due to malice, he would suffer the consequences of the oath for trying to do so.

That simple but dangerous act was alone to wave that looming fear over his heart and even managed to move it a little bit. What did he do? Why was he deserving of this?

Kaiden, with puffy red eyes, stared into Gideon's and smiled.

"Too late, I already finished the oath"

A one-sided oath is just asking for death.

"Why?"

Kaiden took off Gideon's hands from his face and covered them with his to warm it up.

"To prove a point. That I will never hurt you"

"I meant why would you do that for someone like me?"

Gideon wasn't used to people sacrificing things for him since he was always the one who sacrificed a lot for others.

"Would you believe it if I said that I'm fine with having no one else except you?"

It was now or never. This was what Kaiden thought.

"That I'd go insane if you were gone? well I guess I have already gone mad since you disappeared from my sight for quite some time"

Was Gideon hearing this correctly?

"When you left, I felt like I lost a part of me. And now that I found you again, I don't want to lose you again"

Is he...

"Gideon, My dear Deon... The reason why I got angry when you tried to pair me up with others is that I don't need them"

saying that-

"Because you're all I need"

"Kaiden..."

"It's stupid I know. You don't have to respond to that. I just want to stay a part of your life. Whether that would be a friend or a comrade or a brother or..." Kaiden suddenly laughed and shook his head. "I just hope you understand what I mean"

"I understand it's just that, I'm a little surprised by this" Gideon had a faint tint of red in his cheeks, it could be because of the cold weather. They are sitting outside in the cold after all.

"Then stop asking why I do these things for you. Just accept them as is, if you don't want to then don't accept it. I won't force it but please just let me indulge once more... please don't kick me out of your life" Kaiden squeezed Gideon's hand a little bit.

This was all too sudden for Gideon. If anything, he really can't deny that Kaiden just swore that he will never hurt him. And now he's confessing out of nowhere? Just how chaotic was this situation was. For all he cared, Gideon was preparing his last words but who knew?

"S-since when?"

"Huh?" Kaiden tilted his head to the side in confusion.

"Since when did you feel like this?"

Gideon's face started to turn redder by the minute. Kaiden realized what Gideon was asking and even realized that he was holding his hands. He immediately lets go and stood up to turn around. He was trying to hide his burning cheeks as well.

"S-Since we were kids I think?" He put out his hand once again for Gideon to grab a hold of to stand up. 

"That's a long time" Gideon took hold of Kaiden's hand and stood up, brushing away the snow that caught onto his clothes.

"Yeah... So am I still allowed to stay friends with you?"

"But wouldn't that a little... awkward?"

Now that Gideon thought about it, didn't they just do some-

Oh, there goes Gideon's wild imagination and he was red as a tomato.

"I promise I won't do anything unless you allow me to do so"

"Then fine... But for a while just don't visit my house. I still need to process this alright?"

Kaiden's eyes widened and he did his very best to suppress the urge to scream and jump around in joy. Although his love confession just got rejected, he could still stay friends with Gideon.

"Yes don't worry, I'll only go there if you allow me"

"DON'T MAKE IT SOUND LIKE I'M FORCING YOU TO DO ALL OF THESE!"
