Id Becomes a Martial Arts Instructor 19

As the sun was right above their heads, the group had found a nice spot to rest at near the edge of the forest. A stream ran through the bottom, and following the stream path, large trees were growing and provided ample amounts of shade. Since the sun rays were hot and the weather was warm, the group decided to push back the time they would leave the forest. They normally didn’t rest because of the heat, but since everyone came to an agreement, they decided to rest. Everyone impatiently sat on the ground, and only Id and Irlina were still standing. The members who were sitting on the ground were staring at Id, as if they were baby birds waiting for food. Staring at the sparkle within their eyes, Id could figure out that they were waiting for him to teach them the weird technique.

There were 2 particular people that were especially excited, and they were the swordsman Grey and Reindelph. It was natural for Grey since he used a sword, but there was a different reason why Reindelph was enthusiastic. He was always discontent with not being able to move quickly, because of his slow legs. Hearing that Id’s movement techniques could make anyone faster, a fire was lit up within Reindelph.

“Mm, I will first explain to you the fundamentals of the movement. And, I will teach you if there’s more time available after that. Ah, I’m not sure how long it will take to learn either. It’s different for every person. The first thing you need to learn is the movement of the feet, in other words, the movement technique. And, ‘ki’ is similar to mana. However, although there are similarities between the two, there are also differences. Since Illan is well-informed on what mana is, please explain.”

Illan cleared his throat and began to explain.

“Mana is something that is all around us, and can be seen as the energy that maintains this world. It is also something that all living things need in order to live. However, there isn’t a definite definition that has been made for it. We mages use mana as a process, so that we can utilize our spells…….”

Id knew that he did well in asking Illan to describe what mana was.

‘As I thought, it was a good thing that I didn’t explain it myself. If I had told them the information that Greydrone knew, I’m sure they would have made a big deal out of it again. The people from the past used to know more than this……”

Id was unable to read all the information that was within his head. With Illan’s explanation, Id examined Greydrone’s memories and found that the people from the past knew way more than what the current level of knowledge was.

As Illan finished his explanation, Id continued.

“As you’ve heard. Mana is a strength that is all around us. On the other hand, ‘ki’ is like mana, but can only be utilized within the body. And, sword ki that a swordsman has can be seen as processed mana. Utilizing it, you’re able to pour out the sword ki. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

Grey responded.

“Yeah, of course we know. My dream is to become a Sword Master that can use sword ki. However, it’s very hard to achieve. Even here in Illinath, there are only 3 higher ranked Sword Masters. There may be more in different countries, but most places can be counted with one hand. Either way, what does sword ki have to do with movement techniques?”

Grey was definitely more interested regarding the whole aspect.

And, Id continued with an answer.

“That is, sword ki is ki that is poured out through the sword. However, it’s something that must be utilized from within the body. If you’re able to do that, it should be possible for you to be able to move as fast as I did.”

As ever, Id’s explanation was unfamiliar to everyone. Illan tilted his head as he was doubtful.

“Look Id, are you really saying that that’s possible? It might be because I don’t have much interest in swords, but I’ve never heard of such a thing.”

“Can you explain it a bit more in detail?”

The one who had spoken was Irlina who had been attentively listening since a while ago.

Although Id nodded his head, the rest of the members were staring at him with somber eyes.

‘They have things like spells here, so how do they not know these things. It’s very admirable to hear that there are people who are able to utilize sword ki here. Indeed, if someone uses a sword for a long time and can pass through a certain barrier, they’re able to ascertain the correct feeling. However, why do I get the feeling that the people here know even less than the kids that come from warrior families in my world. In Greydrone’s memories, there are definitely high-ranking sword skills available. Is it something that only dragons know of?’

Id automatically sighed.

“Then has anyone here seen a real Sword Master before?”

Irlina was the only person to nod her head.

“Things could be much quicker to explain if you guys had seen a Sword Master. If you’re proficient enough with using sword ki, you should be able to do what I’m saying. I’ll give you more details next time, so for now, just learn what I teach you. You’ll automatically know what I’m talking about if you do.”
