Tears still dripped from Kelly’s face as his cold voice hovered in her ear.

‘I’m the one who doesn’t want the divorce. Please don’t bother telling that to Ariad and come to me next time.’

She knew how he felt so well.

It won’t be much different from the feelings he had aroused in her as she imagined him.

Asshe finally faced the reality of such big emotions when she should have had no right to intervene, and a sense of misery washed over her.

Nevertheless, she was infested with these constant aspirations.

The man still remained as a ray of light in her humble life from the past to the present.

At their first meeting, Joshua had smiled at her when he offered her his handkerchief.

For her, it felt like a milestone, guiding her path in these past few years.

“Why didn’t you smile at me like before, Joshua?”

Now, it was as if he had lost it.

It was a fine day.

The leaves fluttered and laughed in the cool breeze, mocking Kelly’s situation.

So-hee stared at the door for a long time after Kelly had exited the bedroom.

Joshua grabbed her chin and turned it to face him.

“What are you looking at in a daze?”

So-hee closed her eyes immediately when Joshua’s sparkling beauty entered her line of sight.

‘Oh! Come on, Joshua. At least, think about my eyes.’

“Why won’t you speak to me, Ariad?”

His low mutter tickled her ear and So-hee glanced up at him with one eye open.

Joshua’s blood-red eyes looked at her with disapproval.

“Why are you avoiding my gaze?”

“You’ll find out after looking in the mirror.” So-hee replied calmly and tried to swat the hand clutching her chin but his big, powerful hand remained on her cheeks.

Joshua’s jaw clenched. “What do you mean?”

“Please think about my eyes before you come any closer. Do it slowly because I think I’m going to be blind.”

Joshua withdrew a bit as his countenance expressed deep concern.

He seemed to think about it carefully but he still had no idea what So-hee meant.

How can he not know how handsome he was for having those facial features?

Interesting~

So-hee sighed and slowly opened her eyes.

Their gazes met.

Joshua pulled a small, thin and flat silver cylinder out of his jacket pocket.

She thought she already had her heartbeat under control, but then this man would just come out of nowhere and do things like this.

So-hee’s pupils trembled when she felt his breath closer than before.

“What is that?”

“An ointment. I’ll be putting some on the scar on your forehead.”

“You don’t have to. Why don’t you let your maidservants do it for me?”

“Because I want to.”

He replied shortly and took off the bandage wrapped around her forehead.

Blinking hard, So-hee spoke. “Joshua, do you know what you’re doing is called?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Love.”

The hand on her forehead paused.

Nevertheless, she didn’t miss the opportunity to press on.

“I know it annoys you but you still want to do it. Plus, you’re making this ointment application an excuse to see my face again.”

“Shut up.”

“That’s what love is, Joshua. It’s frustrating that you don’t even know what it is.”

His left hand covered So-hee’s mouth quickly that it also pressed down on her nose.

As So-hee struggled to breathe, Joshua sighed deeply and released her, dropping his hand on his lap.

“Be quiet before I put a tape in your mouth.”

“Wow, Joshua! You put a lock on my bedroom door and now you’re threatening to put a tape in my mouth?”

“The lock is for your own good.”

“How the hell is that for my own good?”

“I’m afraid you’ll go somewhere and make your injuries worse.”

“You said I can’t go out of here even if I’m all better!”

“Well, yes.” He said simply but it was full of determination.

Dumbfounded, So-hee threw her head back and laughed.

There was nothing wicked in his overall appearance, so she couldn’t believe that Joshua could be this possessive at first.

“Don’t think about seeing another man, Ariad. It’s useless because I’ll find you wherever you go and drag you back here.”

“Don’t you think that is a human rights violation? You have no right to lock me up like this, you f*cking bastard!”

“It is a husband’s god-given right to prevent his wife from having an affair.”

The dirty accusations shut her up.

“From now on, I’ll be putting my foot down as the man of this household. You’ll be stuck here in the mansion. You will only be f*cking me and no one else.” He said boldly.

Surprised, So-hee choked from a heavy cough attacking her throat.

How can this man spit out such frivolous declarations in broad daylight?

When she coughed for a long time, Joshua’s big hand gently patted So-hee’s back.

He should have given her a bottle of medicine.

“You’re treating me like a prisoner, Joshua. It’s the most terrible thing to do to a woman you love.” She said quietly.

Joshua stopped patting her back, and his blood-red eyes were fierce as he glared at her.

‘All right.’ So-hee pressed her lips in a mulish line. ‘I should stop brainwashing him for today.’

If she wouldn’t shut up and just crossed the line, Joshua might put tape in her mouth.

After a long silence, Joshua’s movement resumed.

He buried his forefinger unto the ointment and applied it on the diagonal cut on her forehead.

Joshua was so close that she could feel his hot breaths on her forehead.

So-hee fixated her gaze on his broad chest calmly rising and falling as his long, anxious breath tickled her bangs.

“It’ll leave a scar.”

“It’s alright.”

Joshua bent his neck to look at her.

“What’s alright?”

“As long as I still look pretty to you.”

Joshua’s blood-red eyes turned dreamy as he grinned widely, showing all his teeth.

He stared blankly at her for a moment before avoiding her gaze altogether.
