Chapter 4

The Hunt Begins

After finishing all my classes I'm now heading to the gate where Rohee and Katia are waiting for me.

I'm walking through the streets of Elgandi, where I see many people walking by over the white cobblestone road.

Looking ahead I see the walls that have protected our lives for many years.

That wall is the second wall that exist here in the Elgandi.

Here in the Kingdom of Elgandi, two walls have been built to protect us from the threat of the dragons.

The first wall is 15 meters high while the second wall is 20 meters high.

And in the center of those walls lies the gatehouse, which is the gateway to this kingdom.

The gatehouses, which are also interception bases, are called gates.

I call it that, too. Because it is easy to call it that.

I arrived at the gate and went inside.

The beautiful Rohee and Katia should be waiting for me at the reception desk.

I'm really curious about that, but that can wait for now.

"Rohee-san, Katia-san please stop! It's not nice to be fighting in a place like this!"

"Oh! At last you are here. I'm getting tired of waiting for you."

"Well, it looks like you didn't run away."

Did they suddenly stop fighting?

"It was Zekud, wasn't it? This dragon hunting match. If I win, you will have to relinquish your captaincy and I will replace you as the captain of this squad."

"It's really simple, right now there are three Class-A dragons invading the hunting area near Elgandi."

To get out of the kingdom you need to pass at one of the gates and register first before you can leave.

Once you step out of the kingdom, you can see a vast land where dragons roam.

Ordinary people can't go out because of the danger outside and even the knights are also in danger of dying, so there's a lot restriction imposed before one can go outside.

If a person will hunt a dragon, that person will be asked how long is he going to hunt and if he didn't come back within that time period, a rescue knight will then be dispatched.

A lot of unfortunate situation can happen while dragon hunting such as being injured and unable to move or getting lost and not being able to return home.

In cases as such those they are dispatching rescue knights to search for them to bring them back.

This time we are hunting dragons in a nearby forest.

And the hunting team is considered of myself, Rohee and Katia, who are all S-class knights.

I can say without a doubt that our party is really strong.

If Flambert-sensei would had been here, our squad will be completed of all the [S-class knights] that exist in the kingdom of Elgandi, but that would have been an overkill for a three Class-A dragons.

In the eyes of an Class-A dragon we are already an opponent not to be messed with.

"Well then if you guys spot any dragon just launch any one-shot magic towards the sky."

Rohee said that while we are standing in front of the forest.

"When you launch a one-shot magic, that will be the signal to tell to the others that you found a dragon and when everyone had launched their magic, that will be the start of the dragon hunting competition, okay?"

"That's right and if you spotted two dragons in the same place, just launch two magic shots. Hmmm... Hey! Katia are you listening?"

As expected, I was right and a dragon was resting and drinking from the lake.

It was about 3 meters long and its body is covered with red scales.

I quickly hide in the shadow of a giant tree and then I raised my hand to the sky.

My natural attribute is [darkness].

And because of that I was given the title of the [Dark Knight].

I then invoke the one-shot magic, [Dark Matter].

A black sphere appeared from my hand then it shoot up in the sky.

The sound that the black sphere created made the dragons noticed that something was wrong and began to survey the area.

As I was thinking of hiding until Rohee and Katia's signal came I suddenly heard two magics exploding in the sky.

It was coming from the west and the east.

It seems that Rohee and Katia already also spotted a dragon.

And with that the dragon hunt was about to begin.

"All right, let's get recognized and approved by those two beauties."

I grip the hilt of the long sword that I'm carrying on my back and I pulled it out of it's sheath.

The blade of the sword glinted as I went out of my hiding spot.

The four-limbed Class A dragon standing across me spotted me and then it roared.

Then I took a step towards the dragon.
