I'm The Boss's Secretary?!

Chapter 243 - Court Decision-III

Note: please read the end of the previous chapter, it appeared that a few paragraphs were missing when I uploaded them ^^

A drop of sweat trickled from Che Hara's side of cheeks, even though the room was cold enough to make one feel like it was winter, the nervous break sweats over her hands and forehead. "We are friend, but I suppose we aren't that close enough to be called close friends..."

"Miss Che, today's investigation is to find out the killer of Mr. Chu. The rules had been stated loud and clear earlier which I believe you know what to do and not to do. Lying will grant you a terrible punishment Miss Che. Do you understand?" questioned Gwe Jeoknim, his eyes sternly stared and gouge Che Hara's expression that only pushed the pressure the vampiress felt even deeper. Now she felt as if a hole form beneath her feet out of a thin air, and the only reason for her to still not fall from the hole was a thin wooden plank that was made to cover the top of the hole.

She closed her eyes, thinking about the consequences. She would have stepped away from the case if not for the witchess to threaten her. Damn Chu Sunji! thought Che Hara. It is because of him wanting to get even with Jung Hwa by working with the witchess that eventually lead to his death even though he knew that could never happen unless he was born again.

"Y...Yes I do."

"Do you remember anything in your conversation with the late Mr. Chu about witches other than this? Have he ever told you about anything related to them?"

Che Hara learned that talking less would be best for her, she decided to be quiet. But Jung Hwa spoke. "I am curious about the witches too. Have you ever meet these witches Miss Che?"

Che Hara's heart thudded aloud this time. Regardless if she could control her heartbeat she wouldn't be able to stop her heart from drumming in fear at the mention of the witches.

As if she didn't know it yet, the second judged pointed out, "Your heart is beating quite loudly, Miss Che?"

The first judge intervened, "Are you trying to blame the witness, Mr. Mu? You do know that witness are crucial, but why do I feel like you are blaming her?"

"We simply cannot eliminate all possibilities that could happen. I am in neither side of anyone in this room, not the defendant or the witness. I am doing my job Mr. Du which what I see you couldn't comprehend," Mr. Mu had been irritated as well, seeing of how Mr. Du instead of being a fair was biased to protect the witness who was clearly lying. "All of us should keep in mind while we have a witness we do not have evidence. I will only believe her word if it is true and if she is not hiding anything. While we heard from Miss Che that she had seen Associate Jung killed someone, we cannot forget that murder is also easy for a vampiress in her early ages to kill a man, especially if Mr. Chu was taken by surprise."

Seoyeon who was near the second judge, looked at him with a moment of surprise. From his words, it didn't appear that he was doing this to protect Hwa, but what he did indeed had some people to doubt Che Hara even more. She turned to Jung Hwa who crossed his arm, that had Seoyeon to think about his silence this entire time. Did he know this would happen? Is that why he had spoke only little words when needed because he knows that Che Hara wouldn't be able to make herself to appear innocent without being dubious?

Mr. Du, however, didn't take the word easy. Slamming his hand, he almost stood up from his seat, "Is that not an accusation, Mr. Mu?! You are blaming the witness!"

"It is only a word Mr. Mu. I said what I thought could be possible."

"Quiet," came Gwe Jeoknim's voice that made the two judges quiet. Being rebellious and afraid that he would be dismissed from being a judge in this case, Mr. Du tried to speak but for some reason he felt as though his upper lips was glued with the lower one, making him unable to say a single word. "What Mr. Mu says is not completely wrong. As we know there are beings of vampires and witches, we should not eliminate all possibilities," Che Hara felt her stomach dropped at his words. Does that mean, the Head Associate also agreed that she was the culprit?

Afraid of being misunderstood and even pushed to the blame as the killer even though she wasn't, Che Hara opened her curled lips, "I-"

"You could stand back for now Miss Che. We will keep in mind of what you said," Gwe Jeoknim announced and quickly, the vampiress fled from the place hiding from the people.

Now was Jung Hwa's turn. Seoyeon placed her hand on the wooden armrest beside her chair, feeling her stomach twist in worry as her hand tightened the hold. Most people also watched him with an expression of anticipation. The earlier interrogation with Miss Che had developed suddenly in a way no one expected, and they were now waiting for what Jung Hwa had to say.

Unexpectedly, the moment Jung Hwa arrived to the middle of the court, before he was questioned by any judges especially Mr. Du who seemed to be very eager to launch questions, he raised his hand, a smile tilted on his lips that crooked one side further than another. His back faced Seoyeon, but she could still see his expression from the large monitor placed next to the judges' seat that showed Jung Hwa's face full of a wicked smile. His delight was similar to when one wager their life while attempting to jump from a cliff, as if wanting to know if he would die or not for their own amusement.

Jung Hwa's eyes were clear similar to how his voice sounded when he said, "Head Associate, grant me three days and I will bring you the killer."
