I'm The Boss's Secretary?!

Chapter 360 - Sweet Or Bitter-I

The entire room rang, Seoyeon could feel all the senses including pain, shock, and the sadness that she felt. Her steps staggered back as she watched her look dripping down to the wooden floor.

"Haneul!" Min Hyuk rose from his seat. He pulled her close to him, taking her into his embrace before she could fall.

"Now!" Madam Yoo sent her signal. The people who had been hiding in the dark rushes inside the room, breaking the wooden windows, barging inside. The sound of screaming filled the room.

"Haneul," Min Hyuk repeated her name as his eyes filled with panic. Seeing his eyes, Seoyeon remembered Jung Hwa and his gaze. When she was wounded, he had the same gaze which worried her. "Stay with me," he whispered, "Why isn't your power working?"

While vampires heal faster by drinking blood, Haneul heal herself by her power which Seoyeon learned while being inside Haneul's body.

"I-I can't," Haneul heaved for more breaths, feeling the searing pain and itch all over her stomach that spread to her limbs. "T-The barrier," she coughed, letting clotted blood to seep from her lips, "She used the barrier."

And that was also why he wasn't able to notice the secret movement of their enemies, thought Min Hyuk. The light witches came to attack him who was on the ground but Min Hyuk didn't have to move for the gust of wind to blow behind him, slicing the two witches into chunk of meats.

"Stay with me and hold on," Min Hyuk said and he carried her out of the room, helped by both Bom and Raeul.

"King," Raeul said, "The shadows aren't answering your call."

"Our worse bet is they had died," answered Bom who had kicked the human away, causing a large dent on the wooden wall.

"No matter how careful they are, they won't be able to kill them in quiet. There is a barrier around the palace that stop others to know the condition inside," Min Hyuk's eyes burned with anger. Who would have thought the barrier which was used to protect people now use o trap others inside?

He went toward the end of the barrier where an invisible wall had erected. No matter how hard he kicked, it only resulted to a sizzling burn on his skin.

Cold sweats drenched on Haneul that worried him even more. He tried to use his power and everything he could to break the barrier but he remembered what Haneul said about the barrier Madam Yoo created. The barrier only work for light witch...

Light witch!

"Hold on Haneul, we are soon there!" Min Hyuk assured her who began to twist her body in pain. In a swift run, Min Hyuk made it back inside the room. The enemies attacked him again and using his power, he blast all those who tried to come near him or Haneul.

Amongst the dying people, Min Hyuk noticed the woman on the corner of the room trying to fend herself, "Yeseul!" Min Hyuk called, "We need your help."

Yeseul who heard them turned her face, her eyes went wide when she saw a dagger had been placed inside Haneul stomach. Quickly, Yeseul made her way to them.

"H-Ho... milady," Yeseul cried, her mind was in a daze and Min Hyuk used his arm to shake Yeseul out from her daze.

"Listen to me," Min Hyuk warned, "Her plan is to kill Haneul. In this place only light witch can use magic and only you can bring her out of the place. You remember my horse don't you? Use him to get out of this place."

"W-What about you?" Yeseul questioned, "If I am the only witch here who can help you..."

"I know the extent of your power. Bringing out two people from this barrier will take a lot from you but you can leave with Haneul. She is your priority," Min Hyuk said the words while looking deeply into Yeseul's eyes. "Protect her with all your life. Now go!"

Yeseul was torn on whether to leave of not but she chose to leave for every minutes, Haneul's face gradually turn paler from her wound.

Once they leave, the light witches came to attack them. "What is your plan?" Min Hyuk's question was directed toward Madam Yoo who was walking toward the throne seat. "The kingdom? I thought light witches are selfless."

"Our people's characteristic are indeed to be kind to others. But you should know that even in the purest white there are black. That's me. All I wish is to make this world a better place for us the light witches," Madam Yoo slid her fingers over the seat.

Min Hyuk looked around, finding that he only had himself to fend with Raeul and Bom who had stayed in the wedding banquet while the rest of his member had died as they didn't have their weapon to him.

The weakness of the barrier was only one. It could seal the power of witches but not his innate ability. But the number of the light witches inside this room was more than a three people team to take against.

"You don't want the peace of light witches." Min Hyuk said, "You only want the throne, the kingdom. To have the entire land for your own self and you justify it for the sake of your people. If you had let us reign, your people would have been accepted for that was the kingdom Haneul had strive for."

"What do you know?!" Madam Yoo bellowed, "You vampires and humans are the same— you are monsters in human skin! Not only had you both shunned us for holding an ability, you can't differentiate between dark witches who are your enemy or us, who became the victim of your war spills. My people had to live in hiding for years! I had to see them died and killed before my eyes! You wouldn't know how it feels to hear their voices and cries for help while watching them slowly burn to death or to be haunted by guilt every night!"

Madam Yoo crashed all the objects around her, knocking the glass which held the red liquid to fall all over the carpet. "It's time for them to take the spotlight and the life they deserve to have!" and the rest of the light witches roared in unison.

Min Hyuk looked around him, seeing only people with eyes blinded by hatred. The once people who had nothing by their smile while leaving in a small village now held weapons on their arms.

They were...

They had changed.

Or maybe they hadn't change but this was their true nature.

If Haneul was here to see what he saw now, Min Hyuk knew how agonizing it must be for her to see the peace she tried to make was broken before she manage to take a grasp on it.

"I might not understand how your people live and what they suffers," Min Hyuk raised his hand, using his ability to pull the swords of his men who had died. "But you are only repeating the nightmare. Vampires and humans are indeed monsters but look at the bodies and blood all around you."

Madam Yoo's eyes shook as she looked down on her hand which had just slide on the throne, seeing blood all over her fingertips.

"You are also a monsters. Congratulation for coming into our world. But it is time for you to pay for your sins now."

Far from the kingdom that had turned chaotic. JaeGil shook the rope that ties him. Last night, he was shocked and startled for his life. He had overheard the plan Madam Yoo had to kill Haneul and overtake the kingdom. He had only plan to leave the village and warn Haneul about the plan only for Seola to find him and tie him inside the prison room.

"Shit! HELP! HELP!" JaeGil had been yelling for two yours after he woke up. He didn't know what time it was now or whether he was too late.

The door slowly opened and come inside was Han Anhye who was holding his baby on his arms. The man was taken aback to see JaeGil inside the prison room and tied into a chair.

"What happen to you!" Han Anhye quickly came to his side. Knowing JaeGil well, he couldn't understand why the man was tied in a chair.

"You didn't leave?" JaeGil asked a little hopeful, "The wedding ceremony hasn't started?"

"No, it has," answered Han Anhye, who quickly untied the rope around JaeGil's wrist using his sword which he often brought with him for protection. "I can't exactly came with the baby and my parents being there..." Han Anhye's eyes widened when JaeGil pushed himself from the chair in haste.

"We are too late!" JaeGil yelled, "The wedding ceremony is a trap, Madam Yoo..."

"HELP!" A loud voice rang from the prison room.

Knowing it was his wife's voice, Han Anhye immediately pushed himself from the floor he knelt at. Both him and JaeGil immediately fled from the prison room. Coming toward Yeseul who jumped down from the horse, around her hands were Haneul.

"I-I tried to heal her but my healing magic is insufficient," Yeseul quickly said when she spotted her husband but upon seeing JaeGil, she raised her hand, "YOU! You are in this too!"

"NO!" JaeGil raised both his hand to show he was harmless. "I was tied in the prison room when I heard they plan. Trust me I never thought of joining in this at all! I am against it. Let me help you, let me help Haneul. I am the strongest in using magic."

Yeseul didn't move and JaeGil cannot blame her for she had just seen the people she trusted betraying her.

"Trust me!" JaeGil said, he stared at Yeseul's eyes for a moment until Yeseul finally loosened her hold, placing her friend down to the ground.

"If you try anything funny, I won't hesitate to kill you," warned Yeseul. She never killed anyone until hours ago but if JaeGil kill Haneul, regardless of the friendships, Yeseul won't hesitate on her choice.

"You can do that," JaeGil answered before he hurried to heal Haneul. A light appeared underneath JaeGil's hand toward the wound on Haneul's stomach.

Haneul only opened her eyes after the sun rises. She found herself staring at the wooden ceiling. Recollecting what happened, she immediately pushed herself from the floor. She looked around, finding Yeseul.

"Where am I? What happen to the siege. Is it a dream?" It was much better if it was but Yeseul shake her head. Noticing somethings as off, Haneul's heart sank as she asked, "Where is Min Hyuk?"

"W-We don't know how the King is. JaeGil have went—"

The door burst open as the same time Yeseul had spoken. JaeGil entered the room with a bleak look on his face. His movements were stiff like a doll and his expression was stunned. Haneul could hear a screeching noise behind her head when she saw the look on JaeGil's face. She pushed her body and stand up. Staggering, she walked toward JaeGil who seemed to still be in a shock.

"What happen to him?" Haneul placed her hand on JaeGil's shirt, "No," she whispered when seeing that instead of a smile there was tears on JaeGil's eyes. "Tell me!"

JaeGil stared back at her with his lips thinned, "You have to be strong, Haneul," JaeGil's hand coldly wrap around her arm.

"The King has died."

A small but clear sound of a thread snapping could be heard by Haneul as JaeGil express his condolence.
