Immortal Soaring Blade

Book 2: Chapter 283: Separate

At night, the wind raged across Green Jade Mountain.

Aside from the stars giving off a soft glow, everything else was dark. One would occasionally hear the sound of the bamboo trees being shaken by the wind.

A woman was still standing at the top of Green Jade Mountain. It was as if she had completely fused with the night.

Su Su’s expression was somewhat confused. Her face couldn’t be clearly seen in the wind as her silk-like hair fluttered. When the temperature dropped and the sky completely darkened, there was an unspeakable feeling in her heart.

When the excitement and expectation were replaced with disappointment and doubt, she felt terrible. She clenched onto the half-piece of jade.

At this moment, she had to accept reality. The figure she longed for would not come. Her heart was filled with confusion and doubt.

Why hadn’t Zhao Jiuge come? Had he really forgotten about this like Xue Wuxing had said, or did he remember but just didn’t want to see her? All of these thoughts flew through Su Su’s mind, and her feelings became a mess. She thought of everything that could happen.

After a long time, Su Su’s expression returned to normal, but her gaze was filled with determination. Since she couldn’t understand it, then she would go find the answer herself. Since he hadn’t kept his promise to find her, then she would go find him. Even though the Mysterious Heaven Sword Sect was like a forbidden ground for her, she had to find him to get an answer. Even if it meant she had to pay the price, which could be her life. If people found out about her identity, she would be dead.

The night wind hit the side of her face and Su Su calmed down, recovering from her emotional distress. Seeing that that figure would not come, Su Su turned to leave this place that she loved and hated.

Although she didn’t know why Zhao Jiuge hadn’t appeared, she was not one to wait—that wasn’t her character! Soon, she would obtain the chance to leave to train, and not even her father could stop her then. She would go secretly look for that man and obtain the answer she wanted.

However, there was a trace of fear in her heart, along with a trace of hope.

The fear was that the reason Zhao Jiuge hadn’t come was the worst case scenario in her mind: he now loved another woman. If that was the case, she would not let him off so easily!

The hope was that Zhao Jiuge hadn’t forgotten the agreement but was delayed due to an accident or something unforeseen.

Soon, Su Su left Green Jade Mountain, and no one was left on this mountain. What Su Su didn’t know was that the person she was dreaming of was indeed suffering from heavy injuries and had temporarily forgotten about this agreement due to other matters!

……

In the cave under Southern Pond Mountain.

After a month of recovering, and with the help of the pills from the Hundred Flower Valley and the Void Suspension Monastery, Zhao Jiuge’s serious injuries had improved. It could be said that his luck was good. He had a spirit treasure armor and the blade didn’t hit any important locations. This was why Zhao Jiuge was able to use a bit of his spirit force after only a month. However, he hadn’t made a complete recovery and was far from his peak.

During this month, Ling Bo Re had stayed next to him, and the way she treated him was a lot better, not as cold as before. This made Zhao Jiuge very happy, and he felt that it was all worth it. At least her attitude toward him had changed greatly.

At first, Zhao Jiuge’s injuries were too serious to move, so Song Rujing and Song Yuansheng stayed, waiting for him to recover before the four of them headed back together. However, they didn’t expect to waste a whole month and they don’t know what the situation at the Ten Thousand Dao Sect was like.

At the start, Zhao Jiuge could enjoy laying in Ling Bo Re’s arms, but later on, she placed him down on the stone platform. It was a bit regrettable, but he was satisfied with being close to her. During this period of time, the Song siblings were mostly cultivating and only came to talk with Zhao Jiuge during breaks.

Generally, Song Yuansheng would be winking and smiling at Zhao Jiuge mischievously. Song Rujing would look at Zhao Jiuge with contempt. In turn, Ling Bo Re, who was taking care of Zhao Jiuge, didn’t say much. Her brows were often furrowed and no one knew what she was thinking about.

“Hey, your injuries should be mostly healed. Can we leave this place? This month has bored me to death.” Seeing that Zhao Jiuge could move and use some spirit force, Song Rujing immediately complained. She had been suffocated for the last month and could not endure it much longer.

Hearing this, Song Yuansheng nodded in agreement and looked at Zhao Jiuge. He confirmed that Zhao Jiuge’s injuries had improved and then said, “Jiuge, if there isn't any issue, we should set off today and head back to the Ten Thousand Dao Sect. We have been gone for two months, the elders must be worried about us. In addition, we have no idea what the situation with Ye Aotian’s group is like.”

When Song Yuansheng finished speaking, his gaze moved toward Ling Bo Re, asking for her opinion.

Facing Song Yuansheng’s questioning gaze, Ling Bo Re didn’t immediately respond. Instead, her brows furrowed and she asked Zhao Jiuge, “Can you move?”

Zhao Jiuge pursed his lips, and after pondering a bit he said, “I’m fine, let’s head back.” His body was much better than before; at least he could feely move. However, he couldn’t quickly gather his spirit force and he couldn’t cultivate for a while. Other than that, there weren’t any major obstacles.

“Then we’ll leave now.” Song Rujing couldn’t help but want to leave this place. She rarely came out and really loved to play around, but she had been trapped in this dark, stone cave for a month. If it wasn’t for Zhao Jiuge, she would have already left.

Seeing that no one opposed this, Song Yuansheng took one look around before leaving this place. Soon, the four of them arrived in the canyon.

There was a burst of yellow light and a flying boat appeared before everyone. It was Ling Bo Re’s boat. Having stayed here for a month had made Ling Bo Re a little anxious too. However, Zhao Jiuge was seriously injured because of her, so she hadn’t said anything, out of guilt. Seeing that they would be leaving today, she couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief.

“Let’s go,” Ling Bo Re said faintly. She even helped Zhao Jiuge. This made Zhao Jiuge feel happiness bloom from the depths of his heart. Ling Bo Re’s attitude toward him had changed, and this made him very happy. Ling Bo Re’s every move affected him greatly.

Song Yuansheng noticed the change between the two of them and revealed a mysterious smile. His eyes changed a little and he seemed to have thought of something. This was the same look he had when he decided to lie about Zhao Jiuge’s injuries. Song Rujing looked at all of this angrily. She hated how Zhao Jiuge looked right now. It was as if he had never seen a woman before.

When the four of them got on the flying boat, there was a burst of yellow light. Under Ling Bo Re’s control, the boat quickly left the canyon and flew toward the Ten Thousand Dao Sect.

Ling Bo Re’s flying boat looked smaller than Song Yuansheng’s boat, but it still had three rows of seats.

Ling Bo Re sat at the front. When she saw Zhao Jiuge sit beside her, she frowned but soon became calm once more. Normally, she would have already erupted in rage if a man sat so close to her, but because it was Zhao Jiuge, she endured it.

Zhao Jiuge was still immersed in the excitement of his own heart and didn’t notice the change in Ling Bo Re. He was still thinking about his own matters and felt that his injuries this time were pretty worth it.

Song Rujing didn’t like Ling Bo Re, and when she saw Zhao Jiuge’s smile, she also disliked him too. She simply ignored it all and sat on the last row. Song Yuansheng sat in the middle and looked at Ling Bo Re and Zhao Jiuge with a mischievous smile like he was waiting for something to happen.

The flying boat wasn’t high, so they could easily see the surrounding scenery. Perhaps it was in consideration of Zhao Jiuge’s injuries that Ling Bo Re didn’t control the boat to fly too fast.

A miserable cry came from Zhao Jiuge’s mouth and Song Yuansheng quickly withdrew his hand from Zhao Jiuge’s back.

When Zhao Jiuge let out that cry, he looked back at Song Yuansheng. He had felt someone pinching his back, and the only person behind him was Song Yuansheng. If it wasn’t Song Yuansheng, then who could it be?

“What’s the matter?”

“What are you screaming for?”

Ling Bo Re and Song Rujing asked.

Zhao Jiuge was about to ask Song Yuansheng why he had pinched him when Song Yuansheng glared at him. This made him swallow his words

“Jiuge, what’s wrong? Did your injuries open up? Was the flying boat too fast?”

Song Yuansheng’s expression was anxious and he looked at Zhao Jiuge with concern. He spoke very quickly, before Zhao Jiuge could speak.

This sharp contrast shocked Zhao Jiuge. He didn’t think someone could change faces so quickly. It was clearly Song Yuansheng who had pinched him, but now he was pretending to care about his injuries.

However, Song Yuansheng’s glare and wink allowed Zhao Jiuge to finally react. He immediately pretended to be very weak, and his face changed almost as fast as Song Yuansheng’s.

Although this change only happened in a flash, Song Rujing saw it all. However, Ling Bo Re was looking at Zhao Jiuge’s injuries and didn’t see the show they were putting on.

Zhao Jiuge didn’t know what Song Yuansheng was planning, but after a moment of shock, he chose to play along.

“Are you alright? What’s wrong with him?” Ling Bo Re turned around. She first asked Zhao Jiuge and then asked Song Yuansheng. Perhaps due to her guilt being too strong, she seemed very concerned about Zhao Jiuge’s injuries.

“It’s fine. Zhao Jiuge’s injuries haven’t completely recovered, so he isn’t able to ride the flying boat. Otherwise, his injuries might open once more.” Song Yuansheng’s expression was very serious, but he was laughing on the inside. Once again, he spoke very quickly and stopped Zhao Jiuge from speaking.

Song Rujing coldly watched this scene but remained silent. She wanted to see exactly what Zhao Jiuge and her brother were playing at. Zhao Jiuge’s eyes shined. He seemed to have guessed Song Yuansheng’s intentions.

“I’m already controlling the boat to fly very slowly, what else should I do?” Ling Bo Re’s brows were locked and she didn’t know what to do.

Song Yuansheng deliberately pretended to deliberate for a while and then slowly said, “How about this: Zhao Jiuge still needs a few more days to recover. You accompany him and travel by foot until his injuries are better. Then you two can ride the flying boat to the Ten Thousand Dao Sect. My little sister and I will head back first to inform our elders so they won’t be anxious. We’ll wait for you two at the Ten Thousand Dao Sect.”

Ling Bo Re’s expression was a bit ugly, but after hesitating for a bit, her expression became cold once more. She nodded and agreed.

Subsequently, Ling Bo Re landed the flying boat on an abandoned road and stood beside Zhao Jiuge.

There was a flash of bright blue light and the Song siblings left on their own flying boat. However, as they left, Song Rujing stared at Zhao Jiuge, and that gaze made him feel nervous.

Song Yuansheng looked back at Zhao Jiuge, who had already become very small, and secretly muttered in his heart, “Brother, Big Brother can only help this much. The rest is up to you.”
