Ability Index (Darey)

INSTANT INFANTRY: A Special Ability that enables Darey to generate new and living cells, tissues and organs as well as transferring his consciousness into a new, reborn body. Darey used this Ability to evade death during the Harvest.

YEAR: 2161

LOCATION: Living Quarters T 15, Orion Academy Outer Zone.

Darey lay on his bed as he immersed himself in deep thought. He was here at long last, Orion Academy, the location for the next phase of his plan. He was deliberating on his next step as he completely ignored his surroundings.

They had left the house very early in the morning, and boarded an exclusive flight to Orion Academy. The Academy was situated on an artificial island, cut off from the rest of the world.

The entire island was approximately 2,871 km2, nearly as large as an entire state, and the structures present there were far superior to most states in the world. The technology found on the Island bested all African's current ones, and even competed with the top countries, like America, China, United Kingdom, Russia and Japan, which were the leading nations in technological advancements.

The Island had 3 major compartments and divisions. The Outer area, Middle area, and then the Main/Inner area, where the main Academy was situated. The Outer wall was where all outsiders and non residents stopped, and they were not permitted to proceed any further. Even Darey was currently residing in the Outer Zone, with Tenny and Kyron in their individual lodgings, separate from one another.

The reason for the segregation was mostly a matter of security. The Academy was a major power and center of attention for the whole world. It was on par with the World Government, which led the Politics of the entire planet, and exerted almost the same influence. This made it the target of several Insurgents and terrorists, however, till date, none had made it past the outer wall. Such was the formidability of the Orion security system.

The Academic Island had it's own satellite as well, 'The Lightwatch', which surveyed the Island nonstop, and alerted the Island's security of the slightest threat. Since the power of the government was limited, if not nonexistent on Orion Academy, there were no exceptions to the rules and system Orion abided by.

Darey's parents had dropped them off at the Entry point, and after the very rigorous entry processing and verification, as well as a very emotional farewell, they finally left for work, promising to check up on them, and making them promise to be safe, the whole drill. There was however, no doubt concerning their safety. As future assets of the International community, their wellbeing and safety was a priority. There was, in theory, no safer place for a young, budding Ability User.

After their parents left, Darey, Tenny and Kyron were taken to their temporary Lodgings at the Living Quarters meant for visitors, guests and transfers. As potential students of the Academy, they were placed in their individual apartment, which was more extravagant than it needed to be. It had a parlor, kitchen area, dining section, and a large bedroom. The bed was more massive than any Darey had ever used before, though it was all within Darey's expectations.

In his future life, Darey never awakened his abilities, and so, he never attended Orion academy, though after the Harvest, he had visited it and discovered a lot... Too much to think of at the moment. As of now, his priority should be what was directly ahead of him... The Entrance Ceremony... And The Placement Exams.

Unlike other schools which take several aptitude tests and entrance exams, sometimes interviews, before accepting the students, Orion Academy did no such thing. Since they have access to a wide area of network, they already know all the potential students' academic qualities and aptitude. What is most important at Orion is one thing, and one thing alone... Ability.

The Placement Exams are exactly how they sound, they determine one's place at Orion Academy. There are 3 major Levels in Orion Academy, divided by age and degree of education. The Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary Education, each synonymous with the Elementary, Middle and High Schools, and then College/Universities respectively. One's destination to any of the three is determined by their previous academic records and level of education, as well as age. However, the Placements are different.

While most schools use grading systems in their academic levels, Orion Academy uses Placings, and they are determined by how well one performs at the Placement Exams. There are 4 Placements in Orion Academy. The Beginner level, Intermediate Level, Advanced Level, and the Final Level. Once a person reaches the Final level of the Tertiary Academic level, they must at least reach the age of accountability (18) before they are allowed to perform their final exams and once they pass their exams, depending on their performance and choice, their Career paths are made. There are, however, some exceptions to this.

Darey was aware of this, and he had decided on what to do in the Academy, as well as the level he was going to aim for. He turned on his bed as he decided to get a little sleep, knowing he had to be ready for the Exams tomorrow.

A major factor which differentiates the Placement Exams at Orion from the Entrance exams of other schools... Is that it is decided entirely based on the quality of one's Ability, as well as the level of skill and proficiency one has, and finally, the potential the ability possesses.

There is only one way to test these three factors... Combat!
