incapable dreams

We hiked for a bit before we reached the first layer.

I gasped.

There were actual vampires roaming around mindlessly.

They looked like dead. I mean they were dead but, they looked like they were exhausted of their life and didn't eat for years or something.

Like lifeless.

Then one of them noticed me and gave me a sick smile.

"Well, well, well, look what we have here." He growled.

I gasped and took a step back.

I noticed there were five of them: three young girls and two boys.

"Finally!" One of the girls breathed.

"I bet her blood tastes sweet. Maybe her blood type is O." The vampire who growled at me, said delightfully.

"Stay away!" I shouted.

"Come on dear, focus." The Empress whispered in my ear.

They all grinned.

"Aw, look at her defending herself." One of the girl vampires laughed.

They all took a step toward me.

I knew I had no time left so I closed my eyes and focused.

I searched deep within me something useful, something unique.

Come on, Amelia.

You can do this.

Then, I felt an electrical buzz through me.

It didn't hurt me though it felt... gentle.

It felt relaxing and good.

I focused harder and I felt the gentle buzz on my palms.

I opened my eyes and noticed this yellow and blue light mixed together in my opened hands.

They were sparks.

Everyone gasped.

The vampires stepped back.

I didn't know what was happening and I started throwing the sparks at the vampires out of control.

They all got attacked by the sparks and fell on the rocky ground.

"Stop!" One of them shouted.

I kept my power on hold, not letting go.

Why?

I closed my eyes, trying to stop it but it didn't work.

I didn't know how to shut it down!

Everyone started to panic.

I heard them saying my name but I wasn't listening.

My head started spinning and I felt like throwing up.

I gritted my teeth.

I had to stop this.

By myself.

With nobody's help.

I closed my eyes again and ignored the buzz in my body, the dizziness, the shouts of my name, the vampires screams, and focused.

I imagined going through my veins and organs, going in waves, and shutting everything down.

I felt the heat and friction In my hands slowly disappear.

The dizziness slowly fading.

The vampires shouts and screams suddenly stopped.

I opened my eyes, feeling the buzz slightly there.

I waited for it to completely give away.

I did it! I realized.

I stopped my out-of-control- power.

I felt a sudden wave of relief and fell on the ground, exhausted.
