CHAPTER 141: EPILOGUE 2

　A few days later. I had finished all the processing and visited the north gate accompanied by Esther.

“Oh Toru, long time no see. Are you leaving?” (Guard)

“Yes.” (Toru)

“Well, you’re still young, I guess it’s good to see the world.” (Guard)

　The gatekeeper nodded while crossing his arms. He was the kind gatekeeper who had told me about the time Esther was in a tight spot. He seemed to be in charge of the north gate now.

“Come back again, okay?” (Guard)

“Definitely, I promise.” (Toru)

　I received my new C-rank adventurer’s card and left the gate.

　This was goodbye to Finlis for a while. Toru turned around and looked at the castle walls.

　It was then that I saw, a girl with a staff as tall as she was appeared from behind the gate.

“Toru. I’m going with you too.” (Lily)

　It was Lily who called out. She was carrying a backpack on her back, which looked very heavy.

“Where are you going?” (Toru)

“North. I’ll go with you.” (Lily)

 

“Will the shop be okay?” (Toru)

　She ran a magic bookstore in Finlis. The bookstore had been closed since it was destroyed in a previous fire.

“Ngh, that was a regret from the past. I’ve gotten over it. I’m okay now.” (Lily)

“I see.” (Toru)

“And I don’t have a home.” (Lily)

“Certainly.” (Toru)

　When the devil descended the other day, our house was reduced to rubble. New houses were not in supply and were not immediately available.

“…Then why are you going with me?” (Toru)

“Food and fun.” (Lily)

“Oh, I see.” (Toru)

　My shoulders drooped at the innocent smile that aims for me to be her chef.

“Toru…” (Esther)

“Ah, I’m sorry Esther.” (Toru)

“No, it’s fine. Lily is a strong magician and considering the dangers along our journey from now on, there’s no reason to refuse her.” (Esther)

“Glad to hear.” (Lily)

 

“It’s just… (I wanted us to travel alone).” (Esther)

　Esther mumbled in a whisper, but the latter half was almost inaudible. I was about to ask her to repeat her words.

“Lord Toru! Please wait!” (Luka)

 

　That was the last voice he wanted to hear right now. The sound of heavy footsteps echoed from the north gate.

　Even without turning around, I could tell.

　It’s Luka. Luka is here!

“Everyone, run!” (Toru)

　I rushed off to the north. If I was caught here, I could see an unfavorable future.

“Lord Toru, I’m going too!” (Luka)

“No, Ms. Luka, you were under house arrest, weren’t you?” (Esther)

“Only in the kingdom of Yuster! If you go to the north, my power will be of great help to you.” (Luka)

“Well……” (Esther)

　Thinking of it for some time, I thought it made sense.

　Luka is a C-rank adventurer and a powerful person who has earned a title. With her, our journey would be a lot safer.

“Now, let’s set out on a journey together to confront the evils of the world and bring down the hammer of justice!” (Luka)

“No, it’s not such an ostentatious journey, okay!?” (Toru)

“Toru? I’m sure they like you a lot.” (Esther)

　Esther’s eyes gradually get darker and darker.

“I’m sure you’ll be much safer with Ms. Luka around, right?” (Esther)

“Believe in me Lord Toru!” (Luka)

“Luka, shut up. He’s, my chef.” (Lily)

“I was the first one to party with Toru!” (Esther)

　The three of them battled their gazes. In the midst of this, I slowly erase my presence and try to escape slowly.

(Ahh… the sky is so blue, but why are the clouds on the journey so suspicious…) (Toru)

　Just as I was escaping from reality, I was grabbed on both shoulders and waist, all forcefully.

　I turned around in fear. When I turned around, all three of them opened their mouths at the same time.

“Where are you going, Toru?” (Esther)

“Lord Toru, you can’t escape justice, you know?” (Luka)

“My food, you will never escape.” (Lily)

　No matter how I tried, I could not escape from this situation. I raised my hands in surrender.

 

　I don’t know what kind of journey awaits us in the future.

　But I’m sure tomorrow will be better than today, and the day after tomorrow will be better than tomorrow.

　It’s different from when I transferred to Eargard. My new journey began in this lively atmosphere.
