Innocent Love Of A Deadly Gangster

Chapter 56 - AGREED AT LAST

Seeing Steve's assistant there the nervousness and uneasiness in Jessica's heart grew more. She rushed to the assistant and asked, "How is he? Is he in danger? When did the surgery start?" And a whole lot of questions as she was still concerned about him. Her eyes were bloodshot red indicating that she had cried for a long time.

Before the assistant could reply the door of the room opened and a doctor walked out. Jessica went up to him and asked the same questions she did to the assistant. The doctor and the assistant frowned. 'Why was she asking about the old man?'

The doctor looked at the young girl and thought she was his granddaughter. He sighed and said, "The patient is still weak. It is hard to say whether he would survive or not. We are trying our best." After that, the doctor patted her shoulders and walked away. Behind him stood a disheartened Jessica.

After listening to the doctor, many thoughts ran in her mind. She was so gloomy and frightened that she almost fainted on the thought of losing him. She lost her balance and was about to fall when Amy and the assistant held her up.

"Nothing is going to happen to him. I will talk to the higher management. Don't worry." Amy tried to comfort Jessica. She was sure that at a time like this she was extremely vulnerable and would break down with a single wrong word.

Amy had just made her sit down when the assistant near them asked in surprise, "are you not going to meet Mr Smith?" He was totally confused 'did they not come to meet his boss?'

On hearing his words Jessica jumped from her seat and walked towards the man. She asked in her hoarse voice, "Where is he? Is he fine?" The assistant looked at her tear-stained and anxious eyes before indicating her to the room at the end of the corridor. He was unable to say anything as he stared at the girl who ran to the door of the room and stood in front of the door, leaning on it as she took in air.

Jessica leaned on the door as her heartbeat furiously. She opened a crack of the room to spot a man lying silently on his bed. His eyes were shut and his face was as white as a sheet. His breathing was slow and relaxed. His head was bandaged and his other hand too had white bandage rolled up to his elbow. The light breeze along with sunshine came inside through the window, swinging the light white curtains.

She could not help but feel relieved as she sighed, 'at least he is fine, otherwise the one responsible for this would end up two feet under the ground.' She slowly walked towards the man as she sat on the stool near his bed.

Taking his hand in hers she kissed the back of it. She leaned her face on his hand as her red eyes stare at his calm and pale face. Her eyes were filled with tears of happiness as she said her voice a little hoarse, "you know, my heart was about to explode because of you? I was not able to sit properly and you are sleeping her. You said you will never upset me because of you I was upset to death. Is it fun to make me worried. I care about you. Ask whatever you want I am ready to give it to you. You wanted to marry me, right? I agree to marry you. No need to wait for the three months, I take back my request. Mr Steve Smith, I, Jessica Han agree to be your wife and love you for all my life and even in my afterlife."

She again kissed the back of his hand and got up to kiss his forehead before fishing out her phone from her pocket and dialling a number in her recent contacts. She moved out of the room and stood in the corner as she talked on the phone.

Outside the ward stood Amy as she looked inside at the man before turning to glance at the girl who stood in the corner still on the phone. It was impossible to hear her voice but from the air, Amy could smell trouble for whoever was responsible for this. 'The one who is after Jessica and Steve would end up on the doorstep of his death. She has changed for the better.'

Amy had seen Jessica's miserable look and also heard each word she said to Steve. She was happy and her happiness could be seen on her face. She waited for her friend to end the call as she leaned lazily on the wall.

After a while, Jessica walked to the ward as she placed her phone back in the pocket. She looked up at Amy who was smiling at her as her hands were crossed in front of her. When she was close enough Amy said, "So, you finally agreed to marry him?"

Jessica just smiled at her and walked back into the ward to face the man's blue eyes staring at them.
