Accommodation Town Exchange ④ - Plaza de Vaillas

After spending half an hour on window shopping, we finally got to the Plaza de Vilas.

"Well, this is Vilas Square. Maybe the rest of them are just so tired of waiting."

It was a square of considerable size. Um, it would also be unbeatable in the square of Madhual, where the city of meat opens.

The foot is stoned, with bench-like chairs installed by the way. It is an extremely pastoral scene in which an old man is hissing, a toddler is running around, and so on. Even in outlawed accommodation towns, it felt like a much safer area.

"The guards are patrolling the area. See, that's how it goes."

When I looked, instead of the day clock placed in the center of the square, I saw two guards.

One of them sees this one, shakes his body like a little bit, then approaches it slightly.

"Hey, what's all this fuss about? I'll tell you what, it's forbidden under Genos law to do business here."

"Is that it? Was it Malus? It's strange to see you here."

That was the only Genos guard I knew his name from, none other than Mars.

Mars glances around at the forest folk gathered on the spot, staring at his face under the whiskers of his helmet.

"Fine, answer the question. What the hell kind of errands did you come to in Vaillas Square where you couldn't do business?

"Uh, errands, or you just came to see me, right? Today is an exchange between the people of Innkeeper Town and the people of the woods."

"What? Are you saying that people from the woods visited places like this just to play?

Yumi laughs "humph" at Mars, a surprise.

"Even the people by the woods are the people of Genos, so you're free to play wherever you want, right? We didn't break the laws of Genos, did we?

"... you're the daughter of Westwind Pavilion. Why don't you teach the people of the woods how to play?

"Heh. If you do that, everyone by the woods will go home angry. Don't worry extra, why don't you do your own good?

Mars has taken a deep sigh and then once again he has scowled at me.

"You guys don't take your wings off too much, do you? If you break the laws of Genos, I won't hesitate to pull you off."

"Yes, of course. I'm most committed to that."

Mars shrugged his shoulders and then went back to his colleagues.

Yumi has her tongue out on her back.

"Damn, you're such a loud bunch. Nevertheless, I didn't expect Asta to get along with the guards."

"Yeah. That guy shows his face every time he's off duty, he's a regular at the stall."

"I see. So you're worried about the people by the woods. That's sweet, that's cool."

Yumi laughed like a prank kid and then started walking off the lead again.

"Then get your mind back on it and get going. The guards are approaching, so they must have been hissing too."

As I walked along listening to Yumi like that, a bunch of people gathered behind me said, "Whoa!," he waved.

And when people who were scattered all over the place get together, they swell up to more than twenty people. Both were young men and women between the ages of 13 and 20.

"What, you've got a lot of people together. Are you guys okay with helping out with the house?

"Yumi didn't tell me! But I guess a lot of them have to go home before sundown."

Though it was such a large number of people, for me the majority of it was the face I saw. This one was, by and large, a regular customer of the stall.

Yumi laughs contentedly and looks back at us.

"With all this number, you can't remember giving him a name. Play proper and give each other names when you get along."

"Yeah. So what the hell do you do and play with it?

"That's what everyone likes. Is Joo-Run practicing the whistle again?

"Yes, because I think I'll soon be able to master The Feast of Vairas"

When Joo-Lan answered with a smile, Levi advanced to "OK".

"Then the one with the horizontal whistle is this way. If it's the Feast of Vairas, I'll tell you again."

Apparently, Joo-Run and Fou's second brother were learning to whistle sideways from Levi. Other than that, to the women of Fou and Run, Terrier-Mass joined together and went off the wheel first. All the members of the lodging town go after it, too.

"Hmm. Were the Joo-Runs training whistles and such made of those trees? That was certainly a pleasant tone."

and Din's eldest brother, who would be his first participant in the exchange, said so with a gentle laugh. Instead, Tour-Din looks around the square uncommonly.

"But wouldn't blowing a whistle in a place like this be someone's nuisance? That's something that can play a louder tone than a grass whistle, right?

"Yeah. I'll pack at the cylinder, so I'll be fine. If you make so much noise, the guards won't shut up."

That's what I said, and Yumi looked back at Din's eldest brother.

"What are you gonna do? If you weren't interested in a horizontal whistle, like playing on-board?

"What the hell is Banjo-Yugi?

"It would be quicker to look at it than to explain it with your mouth. Chim-Sudra seemed like a great muscle."

The Chim-Sudra had already pulled into the corner of the square with the guidance of the cargo. EA FOU-SDRA and the young people of the accomodation town are also following suit.

In the meantime, all the people by the woods who participated for the first time decided to give them a tour from there.

"I usually bet on copper coins. The folks at the woods said they can't waste copper coins, so they just enjoy winning and losing."

As I listened to Yumi, I made an interesting observation of what was placed between Cargo and Chim-Sudra.

Thirty centimetre square wooden plank with a mask eye. On top of that, there were many round pawns about ten yen in size.

The round pawns, one black, one red and painted, each seemed to be prepared fifteen sheets at a time.

"This is eye-catching. You can wave the game and go ahead with the pawns just the number of eyes that came out. So, if you can put all your pawns in your position sooner than they can, you win."

I wasn't very familiar with it, but that seemed to be a rule similar to an on-board game called Backgammon.

In the meantime, this is the first time I've seen something called dice in this genous. It was usually a hexahedron, and the number on each side was the same as the dice I knew.

Whatever it is, winning or losing seems to depend on luck, as it is a game that uses dice.

but it also seemed necessary to have some technique there after all, and the gallery cheered when the novice, Chim-Sudra, competed with Cargo against each other.

"Hmm. I don't know. No matter how you twist your head, it doesn't seem like it's worth much competition if the game is decided by the eyes of the game."

When Din's eldest brother stated so, Ben, who was by his side, smiled and looked back.

"Then why don't we play another game? If it was a match, there wouldn't be any luck gaps, would there?

"Hmm. What kind of battle is that?

Half the gallery was to be moved along with the Bens. Yun-Sudra and EA Fou-Sudra will remain under Chim-Sudra, and the rest of the Forestside members will be allowed to see you.

"This guy's not a pawn chaser, he plays a pawn match. It's better to defeat the other soldier and take the general's head."

As far as Ben's explanation goes, that seemed to be a game similar to chess and chess.

There are five types of pawns: swordmen, spear soldiers, cavalry, deputy generals, and generals, each within a different range that can be moved with one hand. The smaller the number of strong pawns, the more victorious it is to take the pawns of the generals who own one each.

What distinguished me from chess and chess I knew was that there was no stereotype in the first placement, and if it was self-defeated, I could put pawns in whatever position I wanted.

Nevertheless, it is not that liberal because of the range of self-formations. I guess it is Theory who keeps the general as far away from the enemy formation as possible and a large number of swordsmen are to be placed in the front.

"I see. At least it doesn't seem to depend on your luck"

"But it's a pretty hard game to play until you get used to it. When dealing with beginners, it's normal to fight without cavalry or deputy generals."

"There's no point in fighting with such a handful. Let me give you five minutes, if I may."

The temper was splendid, but I guess it's very difficult for a beginner to win a game of this hand. The first battle ended earlier than boiling Kimmus' eggs.

"Hmm. This does seem to require training"

Din's eldest brother had challenged him to rematch under the same conditions.

Now it sticks a little, but it still doesn't change the result. It was the same thing, even if we continued to fight three, four times.

"Uhm. Come on, I'm getting a headache. Am I not fit to play with this?"

"No, so the five-minute condition is reckless. What do you say we do it between the people by the woods?

"Oh well. Now I'd like to ask Ai-Fa"

Ai-Fa seemed not to be too impressed, but without disputing this, he sat in Ben's empty place.

I was watching four games, so I guess the rules are already in my head. Silently, he places pawns in his own formation.

"Speaking of which, this is the first time the women by the woods have played a match-up game. The three of us who came here didn't even try to get our hands on him."

That's what Ben said when he turned to the audience, and Fay-Baim, who was next to me, looked back at you.

"The women by the woods are not taught to compare their powers. I'm a hunter, so I guess I decided to take the battle."

"Hmm? But this is what you're playing with, huh? I'm not actually fighting with a sword. If you like, why don't you play too?

"No. Even though I play, I don't feel like I'm in a fight"

After stating so, Fay-Baim glanced at the other hedge.

"One way or the other... I'm drawn to what's called eye games over there"

"Then try it. I have too many boards and pawns. Louis, why don't you take care of him?

"Yeah, fine."

Ruia, who used to be so restless, was smiling at Fay-Baim. After Easter, I guess I've also come a long way with my resistance to the people by the woods.

(Speaking of which, this girl was also distracted by Sin-Lu)

Either way, the battle by Fay-Baim and Luia was also started at the same time, and the gallery was to be bisected again.

Me and Tour-Din have a family tease, so let me show you the battle between Ai-Fa and my eldest brother. The pawn on the board already had enemies on the loose.

(Is that it? Sounds a lot like Ai-Fa is the dominant one)

In a slightly wide-eyed gap, Ai-Fa's deputy general was cutting deep into the enemy formation.

And the enemy's deputy generals have already been taken, one cavalry and one spear soldier at a time. From an amateur standpoint, Din's eldest brother was already a cliff.

(How can you ravage so much in such a short time? I mean, even the lieutenant general only has one, but he's special attacking him)

Apparently, that bold measure had done its job, and Ai-Fa had won early.

Din's eldest brother nods loudly, "I see."

"I think I figured out how to fight, thanks to I-Fa. One more battle, if you will, I wish."

In the next battle, Din's eldest brother was also making progress with his deputy generals.

but it's in a cavalry sandwich, and it sinks. In the meantime, Ai-Fa's deputy general was also approaching the enemy general.

"... this deputy general couldn't be put back on the board as his own pawn, could he?

Ben nods "Oh" to the Ey-Fa question.

"Sometimes we mess with the arrangement ourselves, but that's what happens with the basic arrangement."

"Well," he responded, pointing to the swordsmen he had taken from his enemies on the board.

Din's eldest brother moves the general after all his troubles. Once again, Ai-Fa hunted down the enemy general with his deputy general, the commander of the special attack.

Cavalry and spear soldiers standing in between are also taken over one after the other by the deputy generals of Ai-Fa. It is as if the toughness of Ey-Fa, sifting fiercely in comparison to the power of the hunter, was embodied on the board.

Ahead of the enemy general's escape, the swordsmen who had just been struck by Ai-Fa were just waiting for him.

And yet, if you take that swordsman, the spear man will fly in with his next hand. Or, if you don't move, the deputy general will catch up to you - in short, this was a stuffing.

"No! Ah! Again, I guess I'm not up for this fight!

Din's eldest brother sneers disappointingly, and Tour-Din becomes awkward. "No," Ben scratched his mandible as he peered onto the plate from next to it.

"I was very good at that. You set a swordsman and spear trap first, and then you drove an enemy general there?

"... Is that what this is about?

"Hmm. You don't seem like a beginner. Let me give you five minutes."

On behalf of his heartbroken eldest brother, Ben sat before Ai-Fa.

Is Ai-Fa enjoying it or not, pawning facelessly? Three times in a row, the pawns appear to be arranged identically.

"Attacking a lieutenant general is one fine hand. It's just not the kind of hand a beginner would hit. If you make a mistake, you lose an important vice general, so it's gonna be a tough one."

"Well," he said, while Ai-Fa also forced his deputy general to storm.

Ben seems to be an operation that solidifies his defense disappointingly, while advancing the cavalry from left to right.

but it was Ai-Fa who eventually won.

Though some pawns have been taken, it almost appears to have won without peril. The young men and women of the Inn Town were all in admiration.

"Oh, this guy is real. All right, let me give it a real try, too."

Ben wrapped his arms around him and now took a different formation than he had just done.

But after all, Ai-Fa's methods of warfare remain unchanged. However, this time, the two cavalry men were to follow the left and right, and the deputy generals were to make a special attack.

Ben is also attacking with a cavalry in the face of the onslaught. but unexpectedly, i-fa was also stiff in protection, barely moving from the initial placement, bouncing back Ben's offense.

In the meantime, Ai-Fa's deputy generals march on. When he realized, Ben's general was also forced to retreat with his crawling body.

I was almost inexperienced in both chess and chess, but I'm sure it's terminal that the pawns I need have to run around like that. Ultimately, Ben's general was driven inside the enclosure of the swordmen and spear soldiers placed by Ai-Fa to be taken over again.

"Oh, my God, you're so strong for teasing! You, are you really a novice?

"Uhm. This kind of play doesn't exist by the woods"

"I don't know what they're after! Cargo, when you're done over there, do me an eye-fa opponent!

Apparently, the best player in matchmaking is Cargo. And it seems Cargo had already finished his battle, "Hmm?," he approached with a twist on his neck.

"You're playing a game, right? You lost on five-minute terms?

"Oh. Me. Well, I didn't get my hands or feet. You're awesome, you're strong, and you're strong."

"Well, I'm looking forward to it."

Cargo relaxed and laughed, lowering his hips in front of Ai-Fa.

Before that hand pinches the pawn, Ben "waits" to speak up.

"Hey, I'm talking about people around the woods not liking to bet, but does it matter what we bet around here?

"Hmm? You mean betting copper coins on the battle between me and this guy?

"Oh. That's how we usually play."

"... isn't that something that touches the laws of Genos?

"How can gambling be a sin? As much as there are casinos everywhere in Inn Town. What? Even the guards should be playing with their bets on the day off."

Ai-Fa put his arms together and reticed for a while.

Then he looks back at me.

"It's Asta. But even at the invited Genos martial arts clubs in Sin-Luu and Georg-Zaza, the people of the town were betting on copper coins, right?

"Oh. Looks like Zashma made some cool copper coins betting on Sin-Lu."

"Right. If it's a town lesson, we can't complain."

When Ai-Fa answered that way, Ben said, "Okay!" He shouted out loud.

"Hey, over here, Ai-Fa and Cargo are going to play a match! The one who wants to bet on copper coins, get together!

About half of the people who were encouraging me to practice other on-board plays and transverse whistles came together here.

"Betting on copper coins is going to be a quintile battle? Cargo is an arm enough to make money in a casino, so it can't be a battle."

When Yumi raised her voice that way, Ben shook his head "YEAH YEAH".

"Ai-fa beat me by only fifty hands, huh? Besides, cargo takes time to get in the mood. I don't know which way this first battle will fall."

"Hmm. Then I guess you bet on I-Fa, huh?

"You bet. That's why I gathered the numbers."

The people around them were to glance at each other with a twitch.

In the meantime, Ben takes out two grass cages and puts them instead of the opposing boards.

"I'm five red copper coins to Ai-Fa. The one I want to bet on, give me the copper coin."

In my sense, five red copper coins are worth about 1,000 yen. Seems quite expensive to grab in a gambling affair.

The young people of the Inn Town each threw a bronze coin into the grass cage, greatly disturbing their heads. Not many humans were caught by Ben and thrown to Ai-Fa, but still seemed to have about doubled the opening to dividends.

"Hmm. I didn't get to the cargo, but I don't know about the I-Fa"

And at some point Chim-Sudra, who stood in my place, also looked at the sight with interest. The companion EA FOU-SDRA is smiling right next to it.

"Chim-Sudra was competing with Cargo, too. Is Cargo that strong?

"Mm-hmm. Cargo pulled out his deputy general, and it was finally a five-minute battle."

Then Ben looked back at this one, who looked satisfactorily at the copper coins that accumulated in the grass cage.

"Cargo and each other without a deputy general, that means me and each other. If you're a beginner and you're that strong, it's more than enough."

"Mm-hmm. There seems to be something that passes by somewhere compared to the power of a hunter. It's important to hunters to have a sense of judgment and the ability to look ahead."

Din's eldest brother, who still had a slightly squeaky face, reacts to the words.

"So I can't win this battle because I don't have enough power as a hunter? Ai-Fa and Chim-Sudra are brave men, so it's only natural that they have stronger powers than me..."

"No, I don't think all hunters can use their powers in this battle. Somehow, hunters with small bodies like me and Ai-Fa seem to be better at this battle."

Does that mean that the hunter, who had to brush parts other than muscle strength?

Whatever, it was a proud thing for me to see Ai-Fa featured with unexpected strength in places like this.

"All right, you got the copper coin out. Well, then, get started!

Ai-Fa looks faceless, Cargo looks sober, each arranging a pawn to his own formation. While surrounded by so many galleries, neither seems to have anything to do with the pressure.

Cargo, who has been at the forefront, advances swordsmen without difficulty. To the amateur, I don't feel the difference with Ben for once. Did Ey-Fa think the same way, and it looked like he was going to go ahead with his deputy general from the start.

"I see, deputy general attack"

Cargo was almost fighting back in no time as he welcomed the invasion of Ai-Fa.

If Ai-Fa takes the pawn, I take the pawn back myself without losing. It is a one-off offense.

I don't really tilt the battlefield because I will be placing the pawns I have taken again. If this was an actual battle, it was a bloody fierce battle.

In the meantime, the gallery keeps getting swollen up. Not to mention, Joo-Run and Levi, who were keen to practice the horizontal whistle, also came, and most of the more than forty people in total seemed to have gathered on this occasion.

"Good, good, keep pushing!

With a dawning face, Ben describes it that way.

From my eyes, it just seemed like the war situation was leaning towards I-Fa. Although Cargo was still hitting it with no time, it looks pretty much turned to guard.

but - the hand that Cargo casually hit, stopped Ai-Fa from moving.

What the hell is bothering you? To my eyes, it seems as if Ey-Fa is the dominant one as ever.

"What's up? It's not a troubled hand, is it?

Ben is also strangely blaming Ai-Fa.

But Ai-Fa doesn't move.

That's how I - Fa kept his silence for nearly thirty seconds before taking a deep sigh.

"Apparently, I've been defeated. I didn't think you were putting such a trap up"

"Yeah? What are you talking about? You can still hit as much as you want!?

Ben raised his surprise, but Ai-Fa shook his head "No".

"No matter how I rise, there is no way left for me to win. All the roads have been shut with as much hand as they did earlier."

"If you can figure that out, it's a finger full of them.... By the way, how many more hands do you think it would take if I just gave it up?

When Cargo inquired that way, Ai-Fa glanced sharply over the board.

"Twenty-five hands...... I guess. I don't think I can lift anything more."

"Correct. You, awesome, Ai-Fa!

Cargo has a full smile, and Ai-Fa frowns at Urunou.

"What's so amazing? Am I not the defeated one?"

"No, it's a force I don't think touched the pawn for the first time. Probably about me or Levi in here who can compete decently with Ai-Fa, huh?

Ai-Fa looked around at the people around him and then breathed "well".

"But I feel sorry for my defeat. Dean's eldest brother, I could understand your thoughtlessness."

"... No, it seems that the carelessness between me and I-Fa is something completely different."

Din's eldest brother looked back at Joo-Run as he smiled bitterly.

"Making it doesn't seem like I'm up to this game. Joo-Run, I'm going to learn something called a whistle with you."

"Yes. First, then, you have to make your own lateral whistle. Levi, do you still have extra wooden cylinders?

"Oh. Well, shall we go back that way?"

All ten people returned to their original place. Terrier-Mass and the Fou and Run ladies seem to be chasing you too.

In the meantime, Ai-Fa stared at Cargo with a strong eye.

"I'm sorry, but can you take another battle? I feel like I've been able to build a little strength in my current battle too."

"Oh, sure. What I enjoyed so much about the quintessential battle was the hives."

"Wait a minute! Before that, we'll split the copper coins.... I'll bet on you next time!

Copper coins in grass cages are divided according to the wager. With that on the side, Yun-Sudra snuck up on me.

"Looks like Ai-Fa is enjoying this gathering, too. Wouldn't it also deepen ties with the people of the town than during the feast?

"Yeah, I guess so."

One way to enjoy it would be to immerse yourself in battle in this way. Nor did it seem like an eye-fa-like way of enjoying it.

"Okay, you could distribute the copper coins. I'll bet you five red copper coins on Ai-Fa again!

"Hey, Ben, if I run out of copper coins here, you're the only one who's gonna skip dinner, right?

Laughing cheerfully, Yumi went off the wheel. The destination for that aim is a group of horizontal whistles, including Jou-Run.

Under Levi's guidance, Din's eldest brother is working on making a horizontal whistle. Instead, Joo-Run was whistling, and Terrier-Mass and the woodland ladies spoke with pleasure. To the women of Fou and Run, now also joined by Tour-Din.

Even when Yumi joined there, there was no way the place would be disturbed.

I don't hear what you're talking about, but the Fou and Run women are smiling and looking up at Yumi, too. At least, it doesn't seem like there's a battle going on under the water at Joo-Run.

"... for now, you don't seem to need to worry"

And Yun-Sudra snuck up on me whispering like that, so I smile and make her say "yeah".

As the sun slowly inclined, the second battle between Ai-Fa and Cargo was solemnly begun.
