Before the feast ③ ~ Interview ~
It is the next morning.
I was supposed to head to Accommodation Town in a different luggage from the members of the stall to see the meeting between the Samus family and Fou's blood.
"I'm sorry, Yun-Sudra. I'll be on my way as soon as we're done, so please don't hesitate."
"No. It is a great honour for you to entrust me with such a task. Please, come and see me."
The deputy in charge of the stall decided to ask Yun-Sudra. Yun-Sudra had been offered a stall job today, as the head of the bloodline, Berdu-Fou, himself, was leaving.
He had also asked Lily-Ravitz to fill in the number of holes. At yesterday's stage, he asked himself to come if he needed manpower. Apparently, she is very interested in the noise surrounding the Westwind Pavilion, so there was a verse on her way home that I wanted to hear more about myself.
Well, which way this backdrop can be delivered to every corner of the settlement with the usual network of contacts. No matter how troublesome things have gotten, it is unacceptable to do it inside. If Lily-Lavitz wanted to know more quickly and precisely what it was about, it was where I wanted it to be.
That's why I was supposed to be allowed to board the luggage truck the Fou family kept.
Heading to the Westwind Pavilion are Jou-Run, Birdu-Fow, Lyelpham-Sudra, the head of the run, and me and Ai-Fa. In Jomtien, I went back to the woods to do the hunter's work, so I've been hoping to accompany him.
Furthermore, upon arrival in the settlement of Luu, there was a Giza-Lu waiting for him.
When Lara-Luu told me what was going on, Donda-Lu took a hard look at the situation and decided to turn the trail over to Giza-Lu as a bearer.
(This is a story that also involves future engagement with the people of Inn Town, so it's natural to attach importance to it. Graf-Zaza or Dari-Sutty should be waiting to see what happens)
That's how we headed to the Westwind Pavilion.
Seven passengers meant that the Ai-Fa of your table looked concerned about Totos, but it was no different in its powerful footsteps. Perhaps for not packing iron pans or large quantities of dishes, there is no significant difference in total weight.
But all but me are hunters, which is a rare facial rash. And yet, because of the reason I was headed to Accommodation Town, I was to be rocked on the carrier in quite a whimsical silence.
"... you've caused a lot of trouble to Asta, too"
When he finally arrived in the boarding town and the speed of his luggage had calmed down, Birdu-Fow mentioned such a thing to the fuselage.
"What are you talking about? I'm the one who took it between you and Yumi in the first place, right?
"But it is we, the Fou bloodline, who have made that edge into this form. All responsibility lies with us."
Burdow-Fow, also clad against the wall, had a very harsh eye. The same is true of Lyelpham-Sudra and Lan's parents, with Joo-Lan slightly lowering his brow with a worrying face.
"But it was all the parents who attended the Parents' Conference who allowed the Fou family to do so. All parents gave their approval to the story of the possibility of welcoming a man of the town as their daughter-in-law, as well as to the desire to invite him to a feast in order to determine it. Then let's not say the Fou family alone is responsible."
One, a gizza-lu with an unusual look, said so. Of course, there is no way for the rest of us to know what thoughts are swirling inside of it.
"Also, Asta and Schmiral, who had previously become a family by the woods, had no other family, so I guess they never made this kind of noise. Because weddings are on the edge of houses and houses, I don't think we're supposed to invite people from the town as family unless we get over all this noise."
"Hmmm... that's all the blame is, we were going too"
Still, however, it should be noted that the Birdu-Faws did not seek to forbid Jou-Run and Yumi from interacting. It was in Fou, Run and Sudra that we reached the conclusion that we should hold a blood conference and watch the end of the line.
I believed that the conclusion should have been correct.
Instead of rejecting the people of the outside world, even with great difficulties, we will explore the path of coexistence. To live correctly as a child of Western God, there should have been no other way to do so.
The luggage car that made its way through the Kimmus' Tail Pavilion eventually enters the back road and finally arrives at the Westwind Pavilion. In front of the inn, Yumi was waiting for her.
"Oh, Yumi. Were you okay yesterday? I was so worried when I heard Sams slapped me."
Joo-Run, who jumped off the carrier first, rushes to Yumi. Yumi nodded, "Yeah," as she stared at its foot.
"Then I'll take care of Totos and his luggage. Will you come in first?
"Um, please"
From Ai-Fa to Yumi, the reins of Totos are given. That's how Joo-Run looked so worried to see Yumi disappear behind the inn.
"Again, it's not the usual yumi. I want to do everything I can to help Yumi regain her original smile."
"Hey, just like that, other families are compassionate, right?
"Of course," Joo-Run nodded as Lan's parents said so in a harsh voice.
"Well, let's go"
Me and I-Fa take the lead and open the door to Westwind Pavilion.
Even today, the dining room was full of cancer. Most guests are either out of town or sleeping at this hour. Samus and Sil sat side by side in the deepest seat of that idle dining room.
"Oh, there you are, folks by the woods... sit wherever you want"
Sil with a powerless grin points to an unmanned guest seat.
The table was hung by six, so across from the Sams were to be lined up by the parents of Birdu-Fow, Jou-Run and Run. The remaining four will be allowed to watch that face to face from the table next door.
"Hmm. A hunter by the woods shows up all over the place. Are you hungry to threaten us with a knife?
A much less hectic voice than yesterday, that's what Sams said.
Birdu-Fow, seated in its front, is slowly shaking his neck to the side.
"Let's swear we won't imitate that illegally. We're here to spin the right edge with you."
Eventually, when Yumi returned and sat down, Birdu-Fow revealed the identity of everyone first.
Samus' bottom glance rests on one Joo-Run from before. Sams and I should have seen about Joo-Run's face during the exchange.
"First, let me tell you how I feel about this one. We don't want to welcome you as a family until we've trampled on your family's feelings. Connecting the edge of blood for the people by the woods is nothing more than an act of bonding house to house. Therefore, even among us, we are not allowed to give you a wedding without the permission of the head of the house."
"I see... so you're the head of Joo-Run's house, right? Are you saying you accepted that Joo-Run might give you a wedding with the town's daughter?
With his gaze pointed at Sil, Lan's parents nodded "uhm".
He is the head of the Lan main house and for Joo-Lan, the eldest brother of the branch, a figure who is the uncle.
"Of course, it's not acceptable to give you a wedding if your Yumi was one of the least deserving family members by the woods. That's why I invited her to a feast to deepen our bonds and to find out what kind of person Yumi is."
"Well... I am truly delighted that the people of the woods have opened their hearts to the people of the town so far. We've hated you for a long time."
That said, Sil smiled calmly.
"You probably heard from Asta, but my Sams kind of hated the folks, especially by the woods. When I was younger, my buddy told me he had a terrible eye for the hunters by the woods.... Oh, of course, the bad part is Sams' people, I don't suppose there was any sin on the people by the woods."
"Hmm. But I hear that the folks by the woods were never brought to justice correctly for their sins in the town because the Sung family, formerly the chieftaincy, had an evil bond with Cycleus. Even now, I wonder if there really was no sin on the side of the people by the woods, or if there was no right way to know."
"Oh, you did. That's why my father hated the people by the woods. I was raised by those fathers, so I hated you and Yumi at first."
Only Sil kept talking because Sams and Yumi didn't try to open their mouths at all. Sams is pointing that way, and Yumi is getting annoyed.
"But we were able to cut off the bad cause thanks to Asta. I was finally able to know that there were good people and bad people among the people by the woods. I really appreciate that."
"I was just doing business in the street. Yumi bought Gibba's food at her discretion and walked over to the people by the woods."
When I answered Hime, Sil narrowed her eyes to miss the time.
"Oh, so I was fed the Giva dish that Yumi bought me. After I ate it, they told me it was Giva's meat, so what a terrible prank, I accidentally snapped my head off."
Yumi stays nagging and doesn't answer anything.
Sil didn't mind, I overlapped the words.
"Then Yumi began to convince us, as she did every day. There are good people by the woods too, they are stupid not to try to eat such a delicious Giva dish, because even our inn should let us treat this guy. We were finally able to change our minds."
"Mm-hmm. It's our sin to fail to realize the evil fringe between the Sung family and Cycleus. I hear that the people who reached out to us like that were people from Inn Town and Dalaim, starting with Yumi."
Birdu-Fow answered that in a warm tone.
"If Asta hadn't shown up by the woods, we wouldn't still be able to make the right bond with the people in town. But also, the first person who knocked me through Asta's open door was a man in your town. We finally know that not all the people in town have bad hearts."
"Oh. It's been a really good time. My father gave my soul back to the people of the woods in disgust, so I'm not sorry to hear that."
Sil had a very calm look and looked around at the people by the woods.
"So I am truly pleased that you have made the right bond with me. I don't care how Yumi and Joo-Run settle down, I don't think that's going to change that feeling."
"That's the same thing we do. I believe that this should not scratch our bond with the people of the town."
"If so..." Sams shook his bottom voice.
"Then why did you accept such a ridiculous story? Did you think this was gonna fit in a circle?
"I guess that... wasn't our idea enough"
Birdu-Fow replied so, looking straight back at Samus' face.
"First we should have weighed heavier on the fact that only Yumi has children in your house. If only one child were to be dowry in the other house, the house would lose blood. Even in a forest settlement, if there were not so many circumstances, I would not let just one child be dowry. You should think about taking your son-in-law and leaving home."
…………
"And one more thing. As I said earlier, I can't give you a wedding without parental permission in the woods. So even if a definite love is fostered between Yumi and Joo-Run, if each parent doesn't allow it, there's nothing else to ask them to give up. … I had decided that it was not necessary to ascertain your feelings beforehand because I had thought so"
"What do you mean, you don't have to? If the wedding is unacceptable, it would be warm to crush him before he feels deeper, wouldn't it?
"Uh-huh. But before that, we had no idea that our family would disobey our parents. If this is what happened in the settlement by the woods, the conversation was over at a time when you did not allow Yumi's dowry. It's impossible to talk about a conflict between parents and their families in the woods."
"... Hmm. I mean, you can't even wear your own kids. You mean we're bonkers."
When an angry fire burned in Samus' eyes, Berdu-Fow said, "That's not true."
"Even though Yumi is a man of the town, we were shallow when we were caught up in all the woodland lessons. We should have proceeded more carefully. I sincerely apologize for making you feel uncomfortable. … on top of that, I hope that both sides will do their utmost to be able to take the right path"
"Hang on. You're arranging a lot of classy words. I never thought the people of the woods would be so tough."
Saying it that way, Sams turned his gaze toward Joo-Run.
"So how's it going in front of you? Shut the fuck up earlier, but isn't Teng the one who caused the problem in front of you?
"Yes, I hope to do my best to make sure I can take the right path too"
Joo-Run was looking back at Samus' face, whilst hissing his eyebrows at the troubles a lot.
Yumi stares at Joo-Run with great concern, nagging.
"Then answer me. Are you serious in front of me, and are you going to expose our daughter to the woods?
"No. We're still at a stage where we're mostly checking each other's moods. I'm never going to give you a wedding in a light-hearted way."
"Then what are you going to do when you make sure you're in love with each other and the others tell you not to forgive me? You're talking about the parents and their words, right?
"That's... if you don't try then, I don't know. If you think a parent's words are more correct than your own, then of course you're going to pull yourself back...... I guess it depends on the parent"
Little to this word was the head of the run sitting next to him.
"Hey, what are you talking about, it's Joo-Run. I'm not allowed in the woods to go against my parents."
"Yes, but that's because there's a premise that parents are right, right? Because I believe in my parents, my family can follow those words.... but the Sung family and others, once chieftaincy muscles, went a long way wrong. If even a chief goes the wrong way, isn't it possible that a parent goes the wrong way?
Lan's parents were out of line looking distracted.
Joo-Run is smiling softly, with his eyebrows lowered a lot.
"When the Sung family went the wrong way, all their families judged their sins. Then I also want to hold my parents to account for their crimes when they go the wrong way. If we don't, we won't have to go the right way, will we?
"Oh, the one named you... keep all that noise up and you're not growing at all!
All that noise must mean the noise around Yun-Sudra and Ai-Fa. Ai-Fa also looks to Joo-Run's side with a rugged frown.
But Joo-Run at the time was floating.
"Sure, I once trampled on a forestside lesson. But now that I've reflected on it, I can think like this. I wish I could go the right way more than anyone."
Lan's parents still tried to say something, but Sams opened his mouth before that.
"You're a lazy bastard. So, what's the convenience here? If we insist on not allowing the dowry, what are you going to do?
"Of course I will do my best to get your consent somehow"
"Jin-ryok, Jin-ryok, let me go! I'm asking you what you're going to do if you still get stuck saying no!
"Why, can't you? After all, because Yumi is just one child and the heir to this inn?
Sams jammed the words for a moment, but immediately said, "Yes!" and freaked out.
"This guy's just one kid for us! I don't know why!
"Really... I certainly didn't even think about the inheritance until yesterday when I heard the story. There's no way that's true of a house where only one child is given to his wife."
That said, Joo-Run smiled with a grin.
"So why don't I just let my son-in-law in?
Now we're all going to be out of line.
Not all Sams or Run parents. Everyone on the spot. But it was also an impossible story.
"Instead of Yumi dowry into Lan's house, if I go into this house with my son-in-law, I won't have to do the inn job with Yumi. If so, would you also allow me to give you a wedding?
"Oh, man, what are you talking about, Joo-Run! Does that mean throwing out my job as a hunter!?
Run's parents, who returned to me, shouted unbeatable loudness at Sams.
Joo-Run looks back at you with a decent face.
"Yes. Is there something wrong?
"You... you sure you're up to it? Though it can't possibly be tolerated, such as a man by the woods throwing down the hunter's job!
"Yeah? Is that some kind of contraindication? I've never even heard such a story."
Then, for the first time there, Ziza-Lou, who had been thorough in the lookout, opened his mouth.
"As a clear contraindication, such a code does not exist. But that's because it's a natural story that doesn't have to be contraindicated. The men carry out their work as hunters, and the women carry out their work at home. It's a lesson from when our ancestors lived in the Black Forest."
"Yes. That's why Ai-Fa was also allowed to live as a hunter while being a bunch of women, wasn't it? It must have been an act contrary to the Forestside lesson, but it meant that it was not contraindicated in such a way as to be punished. Naturally, if you played around without any work like the Sung family before, it would be a huge sin, but if you did some work instead, you shouldn't be ashamed of anyone"
"Mm-hmm. But still, if we tread heavily on the forestside lesson, we shall be able to turn a hard eye on our compatriots. Of course, you wonder with what kind of eyes my compatriots once saw Ey-Fa disobeying his teachings?
"Of course it is. We're the people of Run, so we lost touch with Fa's house first. That must have been a bad thing to do with the Sung family, but I think everyone was looking at Ai-Fa with white eyes at the time."
At the time, Ai-Fa was shaking his head on the top of the Buddha.
After a glimpse of you, Joo-Run smiles lightly.
"I still had a great deal of respect for Ai-Fa, who lived proudly as a hunter. And I've always wanted to live proud of myself that way. Otherwise, it might not have occurred to you."
"Oh, are you serious, Joo-Run? You're a hunter enough to win the throne of the brave at the Harvest Festival of the Six Families, aren't you? I didn't know you were going to throw out the hunter..."
The unfortunate Run's parents remained confused.
Joo-Run is rather strangely looking back at the head of such a run.
"But the parents and the Birdu-Faws said you should never give Yumi and her wedding in a derogatory way, right? That's why I've come to these conclusions with so little thought that I can crack my head. Even I really want to live as a hunter."
"Well, then how could you do that..."
"So if I could love Yumi in a strong enough way to redeem my raw life as a hunter, that's when I thought about wishing her a wedding. And I thought," If you can't consolidate all that determination, you don't deserve to give me a wedding with Yumi. "
After saying so in the serene tone as usual, Joo-Run turned to Samus.
"So don't worry. When a deep love is nurtured between me and Yumi and I wish to give them a wedding, I can enter this house as my son-in-law. Then you will not lose your inheritance."
"No, you can't!," Yumi's voice echoed.
"You can't let Joo-Run quit hunting like that! What the hell are you thinking?
"Yeah? Until Yumi, do you say that? What the hell is wrong with you?
"It's all there! You can't allow a Moribe hunter to enter an omboro inn like this!
"If I say that, isn't it just as unacceptable a story that Yumi, the people of the Inn Town, will be dowry by the woods?
Yumi was a desperate face, but Joo-Run is still smiling softly.
"Yumi wanted to consolidate her readiness and dowry by the woods, didn't she? So I also thought that if I wasn't as ready as Yumi, I wouldn't be allowed to wish to give you a wedding."
"But..."
"Ah, yes. We weren't ready to go that far, were we? I was trying to figure out if you were the right person to give that much preparation."
With that said, Joo-Run turned to Samus again.
"What do you think? Unless you're ready to get that far - which means you never want us to give you a wedding unless we love you in as much depth as that. If so, would you forgive me for the wedding?
Sams remained obscure in his expression and had become stiff.
Instead, Sil whispers "heh heh."
"This guy, hey... Joo-Run, how old are you?
"Is that me? I'm sixteen."
"Sixteen. I can't believe we weren't prepared to give you a wedding until we were over 20."
Sil regained her usual cheerfulness slightly and looked back at her stiff partner.
"How dare you, it must have been 25 or 6 in 20 places. It's no big deal that Joo-Run, ten years younger than you were at the time, could consolidate such readiness."
"What the hell are you talking about? Such a young man doesn't know anything about the world yet."
Samus had answered that way, but the expression and voice seemed completely emotionally unspecified.
"Sams used to be a rough guy with a sword arm. But to accompany me, I threw away my hometown, my people and my life until then. So I guess I didn't feel like giving my precious daughter to someone I wasn't even ready for."
"Really? But I guess it's natural to think so."
Joo-Run is smiling, without any doubt. Sil staring at each other with that was also smiling, and it seemed like only the two names on this occasion were getting back on track as usual.
"I let you see what you're ready for. Then Yumi will be next."
"Oh, what am I? Just the two of you, don't take it personally!
"'Cause you had a feeling you wanted to be a forest person first, didn't you? If Joo-Run comes in as his son-in-law, your life will remain the same. Still, do you think I want to accompany this Joo-Run?
Yumi dyed her cheeks red, while "What the heck," she gripped her lips.
"I can't turn my head that you said that all of a sudden! I can't believe Joo-Lan is my son-in-law, because I didn't even think about that story!
"Then turn your head around. Do you feel as prepared as Joo-Run?
Yumi looked at Sil and Joo-Run's smile as she held her reddened cheeks with both hands.
At the end of it, he said, "Already!" and raise a loud voice.
"I thought it was strange to raise a man because I wanted to live by the woods! You said that to Asta, didn't you?
"Ugh, yeah. I'm sure I'm listening. And you said you couldn't get ready to leave town without that kind of distraction."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's why the order was reversed. The most important thing is to talk about whether or not you can go around with someone like that."
That said, Yumi got annoyed, holding her face down.
"So... if I can really like it, I don't care where I live. I can't believe you turned down the wedding if you can't dowry by the woods... you're not thinking about them at all."
"Yeah, you are. That's what I wanted to hear."
Sil laughed brightly and slapped Yumi hard on his back.
Then Lan's parents raise their voices, "Wait."
"So, if you two were to give me a wedding, does that mean Joo-Run would be my son-in-law here? It's too..."
"It doesn't make sense to mention such a story here. If you don't like it, there's nothing else we can say we won't allow the wedding."
He raised his voice that way, and then Birdu-Fow looked back at Jou-Run.
"And when you don't think our words are right like that, you mean you're just not silent, are you, Joo-Run?
"Yes, I only wish to go the right way"
Joo-Run, there was only no subordination.
Though not as disturbing as Lan's parents, Birdu-Fow is looking diligently sighing.
Then Lyelpham-Sudra, who had been silent until now, said, "Okay?" He raised his voice.
"More than ever, the people of the woodland and the people of the lodging town gave a wedding. Then there will also be stories out there that are not just about previous learnings. Not to mention, you two haven't even decided to give you a wedding yet, so I guess you just had to haunt your head right now?
"But Run's house has few families, and Joo-Run is a hunter with the power of a finger in it. You can't let it go if it's easy..."
"Around it, there are others who explore the best path while juxtaposing the woodland and town learnings. There's an example of Schmiral at Lilyn's house."
"Schmiral at Lilyn's house? What's wrong with him?
"Wasn't Schmiral allowed by Donda-Lou to carry out the hunter's work and that of the Chamber of Commerce together? Just like that, there may be a way for Joo-Run to do the hunter's work and the inn's work together."
To the words of Lyelpham-Sudra, Joo-Lan said, "Right," he said.
"If it's a period of rest, for example, you can do as much inn work as you want, and if you can handle a lot more things called hounds, you may have fewer jobs to do for hunters than you do now. If we fold well, can we also do the two jobs together?
"Uhm. And even if I try to be yumi, I wonder if that's the same thing. Instead of cutting off either this inn or Lan's house, there may be a way for them both to spend time as their own."
"Oh, that's a good idea. As far as I'm concerned, I think that might be the best thing."
When Sil smiled and gave her consent, Sams said, "Hey."
"Don't take it personally. There's no way I can let the one who vacates a house like that inherit the inn?
"I thought you said you weren't going to let me inherit the inn. It's long before we get old, right? I can't begin to worry about that."
No longer entirely, Sil seemed to be regaining his usual audacity.
I look at my precious daughter with deep mercy in her eyes.
"But hey, Yumi. The most important thing for me and Sams is for you to be happy. The happiest thing for you is the right thing for us to do. So, even if you're gone by the woods... if you're happy, you can't disagree with us."
Yumi was frowning.
And I'm rushing to pluck it with the back of my hand because I've got twitching tears in my eyes.
"... even if you became a forest folk, the Astas are coming down to town like every day. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have thought I'd want to marry you by the woods."
"Oh, well, I don't know which one of you is ready to marry me by the woods."
"I don't know! But where did you get married, parents and children are parents and children until they die! I will never trump my mothers!
No matter how muddled with the back of his hand, the tears spilled from it had fallen on the table.
With that head gently stroked, Sil turns back to Berdu-Fow and the others.
"Go ahead, and keep an eye on the fate of these children. Let's start with a banquet in three days."
"Uhm.... nice to meet you"
I guess you've decided that there's no use asking any more questions on this occasion. Birdu-Fow remained a lot of a troubled look, and still didn't try to overlap words any further.
Each of the other people also takes their seats as they greet each other. This concludes today's meeting.
It's not helping anything, like me. I was just hammering Yumi's words.
"It can't be possible, for example, for a person in a spare house to whisper his mouth to a wedding story. You did your job as a spectator, so let's do it."
That's what Ai-Fa said when Yumi and Sil dropped him off and boarded the carrier.
After all, Joo-Run is being called out by Lyelpham-Sudra.
"It seemed a lot pungent during the harvest festival, but you seem to be on your own, Joo-Run."
"Ah, yes. Thanks to you all for cheering up Yumi."
"Well," he answered, then Lyelpham-Sudra wrinkled his face like a child monkey.
"Well, I couldn't even marry my daughter-in-law until after thirty. Don't panic, find the right path."
"Haha. I just want to figure out the way a little faster...... I'll follow your word, Lyelpham-Sudra"
Then Yumi, who had been mobbing for so long, laid his hands on the side of the carrier and raised his voice.
"Well, then, at the feast, Joo-Run!
"Ah, yes. I look forward to when I can talk to Yumi slowly."
Joo-Run was smiling innocently.
Yumi blushes and runs back inside the inn.
That's how we were dropped off by Sil alone and left in front of the Westwind Pavilion.
No one knows what end Yumi and Joo-Run are going to end up with yet.
But with so many people crushing my heart, I'm sure I'll find the right way. I could have believed that.
