Jed’s Point of View

As I left the room, I heard a dull thumping sound from next door.

I looked over and saw Elle sitting there, leaning against the wall.

“Elle?”

As I tilted my head, trying to see what was wrong, I heard Elle call out my name, "Jed...", powerlessly. I rushed over to her and crouched down in front of her, wondering what was wrong.

“What's wrong? Are you okay?”

“I'm fine…”

“You look pale. You don't look fine at all.”

Obviously, she’s not okay.

Perhaps the rain had made her fall ill. As I reached out to see if she had a fever, "Lady Elle!” I heard a loud voice behind me.

I turned around and saw the person I was going to see earlier standing there. It was Giselle.

“Giselle…”

When Elle called her name, Giselle distorted her expression and rushed towards me. I'm not sure what she’s thinking, but Giselle stood between me and Elle and glared hard at me.

It was a look of trying to protect someone dear to you.

“What are you trying to do to Lady Elle?”

She spoke to me with a lower-than-usual voice.

“Giselle, it’s not like that.”

“Lady Elle?”

“Jed was worried about me. He didn't do anything to me.”

Elle weakly told her, and fell down at Giselle's feet.

“Lady Elle!”

“Elle!”

I shouted Elle's name at the same time as Giselle.

“I will carry her.”

I can't just leave her lying on the floor.

Giselle said, "I will do it," but I ignored her and carried Elle to her room and tucked her into bed.

“... Thank you very much for carrying Lady Elle. And I apologize for the terrible misunderstanding earlier.”

Giselle slowly bowed her head.

Her movements were as polished as of the personnel in the Imperial Palace.

“Elle was being chased by a strange man during the day.”

"A strange man?”

Giselle's eyes sharpened.

She gave me a look that told me to explain, so I suggested, "Let's talk outside the room.”

Because if we stay here, we might wake up Elle.

“But first, I need to get Lady Elle changed, so please leave the room. I'll head to your room later.”

"Okay.”

I gave a short reply and left Elle's room.
