Journey Towards Greatness

Julian crouched down to Rockruff's level and handed out his fist for Rockruff to sniff and get familiar with his scent, Rockruff stopped and sniffed Julian's hand and started to breathe excitedly with its tongue out.

It then started to rub the rocks around its neck against Julian's legs, since these rocks around its neck are pointed they poked into his skin which irritated him but he didn't mind the little one as he knows this is how they express their affection.

The little Rockruff clearly liked Julian and wanted to play with him but Julian has other things to do so he called out Wimpod and Crystal to play with Rockruff while he talks to Kukui, he walked towards Kukui's house and knocked on the front door.

It took a few seconds for the door to open and the person who stood in front of Julian is none other than Kukui, Kukui looked at Julian and was surprised by his visit which soon turned into a big smile.

Kukui "I was wondering when you will visit?"

Kukui said and looked outside to see Rockruff playing with some pokemons, he recognized the two pokemons, one of them being a Wimpod and the other being a very unique pokemon who belongs to Julian.

He has seen Crystal before but he never bothered to learn more about it, he is not an expert in pokemon species so he decided to not ask much about it.

Kukui invited Julian into his house, Julian entered the wooden house and looked around, though the place was not big from the outside, it looks very spacious from the inside, and he also saw some children's clothes lying on the floor.

He recognized those clothes as they belong to none other than Ash.

Julian "So Ash is staying with you?"

Julian asked.

Kukui "Yes, his mom requested me to take care of him and it's nice to have someone around as it gets very lonely for a single guy like me, hahahaha"

He said and laughed.

Julian "What about the girl you told me about? What was her name?... Ah yes, Burnet, still haven't made your move?"

Julian asked and sat down on the couch.

Kukui "Let's not talk about it"

Kukui said and tried to change the subject but Julian was not going to let it go.

Julian "I can't believe I am friends with someone who is afraid to talk to a girl".

Julian said while exaggerating.

Kukui "And I don't understand how you can handle three at once"

Kukui replied. Julian just smiled and didn't say anything, if he told Kukui that he has more women in his life other than his fiancées, he might lose his head.

Julian "Well, it looks like you will be single for the rest of your life, I suggest you buy some dolls, they can be helpful in battling your loneliness"

Julian continued to tease him but Kukui decided to not indulge Julian any further as this might go on for hours.

Kukui "So why are you here, you are a very busy man and you clearly don't have time to spare for your friends"

Kukui said.

Julian "Haha, you know me very well, I am actually here to learn a little about Z-moves, and you clearly are the most qualified person on this island who knows about it".

Julian said.

Hearing Julian's words made Kukui smug as he puffed his chest with pride, and he should be proud as he is one of the great minds of this world and he is very young as well, making him a very famous name in his field.

Kukui "Why are you so interested in Z-Moves all of a sudden?"

He asked.

Julian "Well I found out something very interesting and I wanted to know how Z-moves work to see if there is anything that could help me with my investigation".

Julian answered while keeping his answer somewhat vague, he didn't want Kukui to get too involved in something that can be dangerous and knowing the type of person Kukui is, he won't stand back and just watch if he learns that some people are trying to kidnap the totem pokemons of the island.

Kukui felt Julian was hiding something from him but he decided not to pry in, he knows the type of work Julian does and if he thinks something should not be shared then it is in the best interest of everyone.

Kukui "Okay, so what do you want to know?"

Julian "How does it work and what is the catalyst for the energy to transfer from the stones to the pokemon?"

Julian asked.

He has seen a Z-move in action and he has seen how a pokemon's move gets a massive boost in power with the help of Z-moves but he doesn't understand how it is possible without a physical link. For example, Mega Evolution is something that can be considered similar but instead of changing the moves of a pokemon, it changes the pokemon itself and for it to work, the involvement of both keystones and Megan stones is needed.

These stones act as a bridge that provides the necessary energy for a pokemon to mega evolve but Z-crystals are very different, they don't have anything that could act as a bridge to transfer the power to a pokemon.

If these crystals were attached directly to the pokemon then it would have made sense as they would be directly channeling the power but it is the trainers that hold them and do some weird dance to trigger the transfer of power.

Kukui "You are asking the wrong questions, like many mysterious things in this world, it is still unknown as to how Z-crystals really work.

Throughout my research, I myself have asked many questions like how do they work, why don't the pokemon themselves hold onto a z-crystals like mega stones, why is it that the trainer needs to hold these crystals, and why do they need to perform special movements for the z-moves to trigger.

I had so many questions at the beginning but I couldn't find any answers but the search for the answers did lead me to a very special finding".

Kukui said with a smile and Julian got intrigued by hearing it.

Julian "What did you find?"

Julian asked curiously.

Kukui "Wait a minute".

Kukui said and headed towards his desk and took out a file and handed it over to Julian.

Julian "What is it?"

He asked.

Kukui "Check it out first".

He said with an excited tone.
