Kael Cor: A Vampire's Awakening

21 Farming I : The údāmá, Memories, Loosing Control

This is seriously the most awkward situation I have had the misfortune of ever being in, since I woke up here. I mean I can simplify it, but even my unnatural respect for the elderly could not calm the storm of rage and anger within me. I just couldn't understand it, I already said I was going to save his granddaughter, why did he have to sell me out.

I wanted to kill him, and not the good kind, I wanted to sink my fangs into his neck, I wanted to pull at the soft tissue and puncture a vein as his life's blood flowed down my throat and drenched my skin with its warm and hot nectar. It was a mistake, but I really wanted to know what he tasted like, would he reek of deceit as he flowed down my throat with the aim of giving me a stomach ache.

Or would his blood have a tang of that fear I was currently smelling on him, oh! My, oh! My Lord have mercy it smelled so good. So this what fear did to the blood, it made it taste so much better and exquisite, I wanted it more than anything I have ever felt since I have been here, I wanted too.....

"Please....he's sorry. I will do anything to pay back his debt, so please get your emotions in control, it wouldn't end well for anyone of us. I will pay you back I swear.....he's my grandfather, I don't have anyone else here."

Was she acting, she has to be acting. With a grandfather like this, she was bound to be infested with his wayward and crooked genes. I have seen a part of her that I did not trust, I was sure she knew something about my weaving from the time back in the mine. She was a sultry seducer and would play me for a fool just like her grandfather, she's trying to play at my heartstrings, did she think it will work again. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice then it's a big steaming shit of shame on my head. And to be honest I didn't want to be shamed.

I bet she would taste just as divine as her crappy grandfather, no, not just as, she would taste better, like nectar from the sky, from the throne of God himself. Her very presence seems to bring out a beast in me. And I liked it, I liked it a lot.

"Please Kael...don't do this."

And then my entire vision went white for a moment. When everything came down, I was not standing back at the green district with Dwayne and his granddaughter Xaseah groveling at my feet for his life. I was not even in the pit.

Where I was....seems to be the foyer of a huge mansion. And a little girl in beige colored dress was waiting at the bottom of a massive set of stairs waiting for someone.

It was just like the first time, like back at the mine when I had first went unconscious from hitting that mineral mountain.

This was a memory, I could see maids walking about, a butler standing guard behind the girl, and is that Asare....he looked clean, and dressed in an armor I haven't seen or heard of before. It was a full body armor, but the entire thing seems to be made of metal without any place for joints. He was like a full body metal man,...…metal man?I think the word I should be looking for was that he looked just like iron man.

His armor was a shade of blue that looked like the sky, and it was the same with the nineteen other men and women behind him.

This group of people were different from the one's I saw the first time, in fact to be honest I don't think that first memory was mine anyway.

They had black capes on their backs, and on it was the crest of a lion in a ring of four different colored dragons that were chasing after each other's tail.At the edge of their capes, right at the hem, I could see tiny runes weaved into the capes, I couldn't read them because just like the faces from that first dream it was obscured. But I could see the face of everybody in this dream.

From the top of the stairs, I could hear steps as someone was coming down flanked on each side by two massive white lions. His armor was a dark blue that I had only seen on one thing only, and that was my fingers when my hand lit up from the use of my soul energy. His armor was more streamlined than the others, from his wrist a white glowing band stretched for the entirety of his forearm, and then the same white band stretched from his ankles till the top of his knees.

He turned around as if showing the armor to the little girl, and I could see that on the part where his ribs should be, there were more bands, and a final one that stretched from the base of his skull to the bottom of his tail bone. His helmet covered his entire face, there was no opening for breathing, and in the place of his eyes two glowing feline/serpentine eyes were glowing an eerie white.

"So tell me Rhea you little brat, how do I look?"

His voice was muffled by the helmet he was wearing, but it gave him a terrifying bass that shook me to my very core. I had to admit he looked really cool, and when he asked the girl, Rhea!....Rhea!That's her.Almost immediately, as soon as I realized who she really was, her face became obscured, and no matter what I did I couldn't see her face, or remember what she looked like when I saw her first. Then I heard her say.

"Big brother Kael.....please don't do this."

When I came to, I had Xaseah in my arms, and my fangs were buried deep in her throat. I was shocked and afraid, I wanted to stop immediately, but I couldn't. She tasted amazing, I knew she was a vampire too, but it still did not remove the pure combination of nectar that was her night or was it dark elf heritage. It was like I had just taken a piece of the night sky in all its splendor, she tasted like the moon, the stars, and meteors combined.

I drew and sucked and licked and bit until her entire neck was a mess, Dwayne was crying screaming and begging, and around me were spectators, vampires, the people who believed in me. I stopped, but it was already to late, whatever damage could be done had already been done as most of them looked at me with varying degrees of pity, disgust and apathy.

I looked down at Xaseah and hoped she was not dead, her heart was not beating, another wave of fear and shock shot through my body before I remembered she was a Nosferatu, at this point in Evolution her heart had already stopped beating.I checked for her breathing, and thankfully she still was, I looked at Dwayne who's face was covered with snot and tears and said to him.

"Get what you need and come to my tower, I'm sure you can find it. She's going to be fine, and if something happens to her before you get there. I will give you my head....I'm sorry things turned out this way, but you have no one else to blame but yourself. You did this to your daughter, your choices brought us here, and even though I would never hurt any vampire you made me angry enough that I lost control. You'll have to live with that sin, that your dishonesty almost cost someone you love their life."

I picked Xaseah up in a princess carry and made my way towards the rail cart that will take me back to my tower. I had a few bottles of blood in my bag, so I will feed that to her on the way, feeding always speeds up a Vampire's healing factor, and I really hoped it was not too late.

Whatever I had said to Dwayne was for the benefit of the crowd, or to be more precise I was trying to save face.I was so ashamed that I shifted the blame to Dwayne, and now I felt worse than the shit of sick werewolf. I did this, I lost control and almost killed somebody. Someone who was just a victim of the choices of a very useless old man, Xaseah loved her grandfather. At least from what I can see, that seems to be the case. But that love had gotten her hurt and my conscience in turmoil.

I lost control, I was trying to avoid something like this from happening, but I lost control. I failed again, and this time I did not fail to stop suffering, I caused it. I don't think I could ever forgive myself for this, it was shameful and disappointing. In the end I was still just an ordinary vampire, a revenant with no control over his own hunger or thirst, a common animal. Loath as I am to admit it, I could see why vampire's were so hated, we bring death and an ocean of blood flows wherever we go, and to make matters worse, the biggest failure in all of Shearath, is now one of them.

When I got back to the tower, I took Xaseah in and fed her two whole bottles of blood. Her neck was a mess, it looked like someone had taken a grater and rubbed it all over her skin leaving a terrible sight behind. She was healing, even faster than I was when I was last Injured, it would take a few hours but I'm sure she was going to be okay.

I ignored Teluna and Nisi, I didn't know what to tell them, and they were perceptive enough to know I was not really in the mood. Besides the blood on my face and shirt painted a perfect picture for them, and I was pretty sure their assumptions were as accurate as can be as far as this situation was concerned.

I cleaned up, had a change of clothes and waited outside for Dwayne to arrive, it took him five hours, and he came with a bundled sack two times his height. He had some friends help him bring it down from the cart, then he sent them off, before coming to bow at my feet.

Neither of us said anything, to be honest I think we both knew that we screwed up big time, and the first person to speak is bound to be the bigger offender. So we were like that for almost thirty minutes before I got tired and decided to break the silence.

"She's alive, and she's healing in the tower.Don't worry she's going to be fine."

Dwayne nodded and then he burst into tears, I didn't stop him. To be honest I wanted to cry myself, but the tears weren't coming.I have not forgiven Dwayne, to be honest I'm not sure I ever will. But I can tolerate him for now, and that white hot anger that's burning deep within me was sated.

"How's you're arm?"

"My arm?" I asked in surprise, looking down only to see two puncture wounds flanked by teeth marks.

"When you tried to eat me, she fought back. She bit you, and it's how you got her into your grasp. You're strong for a revenant, unnaturally so.Also this is bad news."

That did not sound good, that absolutely did not sound good at all. I hope Xaseah doesn't have rabies, or some sort of mutated T-Virus Saliva that will turn me and everybody I bite or scratch into mindless zombies effectively bringing about a zombie apocalypse in the pit.....or something like that.

"Vampires don't bite other vampires in normal circumstances. And if it's about feeding, only one side has to do it. when both vampires bite each other, especially a male and a female vampire it forms what is know in the ancient tongue as [Údāmá] it translates into the word joining, bonding, and in other translations marriage."

"Did you drink before coming here Dwayne? Have you no shame." I shouted at him. I was pissed, angry even.(is that not the same thing).

He was lucky I had already tore my way through half his granddaughter's neck, if not I will be drinking my way through half the blood in his body right now.

"I can assure you Lord Kael, I'm quite sane right now. My mind is in the most optimum state possible, how can I drink in a situation like this."

"Well you....."

"Thump, sizzle, BOOM."

I felt scared, hungry, and wary, especially of the gnome girl and the vampire boy in front of me.Where the heck am I, and where is my grandfather. I hope he was not out there causing trouble again.

My eyes widened in shock, that was...that was Xaseah. She just woke up, which was good. But what was bad right now, is the fact that I could feel every single thing she could, and without a doubt I was sure she could feel mine.
