The next day after dawn, when I tried to fetch some water first thing in the morning, Kururu was already awake. Instead of wandering around, it is sitting still. I guess it is taking some magical power. As I approached, it slowly turned its head towards me.
“Good morning. Would you like to go fetch water with me?”
“Kuu”
Kururu stands up slowly.
“Oh, wait a minute-”
I hurried back inside the house and brought another water jug to be tied on Kururu’s neck.
“Is it tight?”
“Ku-”
“Alright, then come along.”
After saying that, I took the lead and it slowly followed me. I don’t know if a Sōryū needs a walk or not, but since we won’t be going to the town for the next two weeks, it might be better to give it some exercise like this every day. For the time being, we’ll have a round trip today and see how it goes. I proceeded at the same pace as usual and then we eventually arrived at the lake. I decided to finish washing my face here. After all, it’s really narrow when five people line up in a tub…
Subsequently, I also wiped Kururu’s body. Then I check the area around its eyes and nose to see if, “in human terms”, it has eye or nose mucus. There was none and it seems to be healthy. Speaking of which, what should we do if the Sōryū catches a cold? I wonder if there is a doctor specializing on them too.
It would be hard to call a doctor to a remote place like this. I guess we should think about what to do when humans (including beastman, dwarf and elf) get sick.
When I and Kururu are refreshed, I filled the jug with water. For the time being, the amount of water I put on the water jug to be carried by Kururu is only about half.
“Is it heavy?”
“Kururu”
“Alright, you carry that much for today. Let’s go home.”
As we returned home, I kept my eyes on Kururu. However, it didn’t seem to stagger or stop. Hmm, let’s make it carry a little more tomorrow then.
“Thank you for your hard work. Let’s go there again tomorrow.”
“Kuu”
I loosened the water jug tied around Kururu’s neck. Kururu seemed to be happy when it heard that we were going there again tomorrow, I think it would be good to take it with me every day. After I took the water jug, Kururu took a small bite on the leftover meat from yesterday. Looking at it, it seems that it only ate a bit last night. If it only eats that much per meal, it will have enough to eat until tomorrow. At this rate, it will probably eat less than a human. It will be an awesome eco-friendly creature. I then told Kururu that I’ll see him later and then I went back inside.
After breakfast and some other things, we start today’s work. I hope to have Kururu’s hut built within a week at the latest. It’s literally just a shack so I’m sure it will be built soon.
We dig a hole to build a pillar facing the courtyard. The tool we used is a custom-made shovel. The soil here is also hard, but thanks to the custom-made model and our strengthened muscles, the hole was dug quickly. The size of the hut was decided by asking Kururu to come to the site. The size of the hut was set so that there would be enough room for Kururu to lie and roll around so it is quite spacious.
In the hole that we dug, we pulled out a tree and put it in as a pillar. Kururu helped me to hang and pull up the rope so I made a lot of progress. No matter how strong my muscles are, I’m still no match for an “expert” like a Sōryū after all.
After the pillars have been erected, it’s time to lay the beams. The beam is not a magnificent one, but it is intended to maintain the structure of the building at a minimum. I utilized my cheat to make good meshes and I used the nails I made before to fix them up so they don’t fall off. When I assembled the roof purlins and so on, I could see the outer shape of the hut. After that, we will put roof boards and wall boards here, but before that, we layered the soil that came out when we dug a hole in the floor of the hut to make it a little higher than the surrounding ground. If we don’t do this, water will flow in when it rains, which will be a problem for Kururu.
As for the work itself, I left it to Samia and the others who already had experience in building rooms and Kururu was also here to help us carry it. Liddy, though not used to it, helped us a lot, so it went quite smoothly. Even so, it would have been impossible to build it at such a pace so that’s where my cheat comes in. At this point, it was now getting late so we would have to wait until tomorrow to put up the boards. I declared that this day’s work is over to everyone.
After the work, I cleaned up myself and asked Liddy about it,
“Kururu seems to be eating much less food, is it still because of that?”
“That’s right. The magical power of this forest is greater than others, so I think that’s almost enough.”
“I see”
Whether it is domesticated or wild, it is extremely intelligent. I’m not sure if it understands every detail, but it at least understands what I’m saying. In addition to its rarity, I think that is a big part of the reason given the fact that it is expensive. Well, even if we leave that out of the equation, the fact is that it looks really quite cute.
I feel like I’m building a new family room rather than a shed for the livestock ―although it is far from a shack. I hope to complete it by tomorrow. With that in mind, I started to prepare dinner.
