Kidnapped By The Italian Mafia
Chapter 43 - The Filler
Henri insisted that Philipe drive me around the city, which wasn't necessary, considering it was safe for me now. But then again, I didn't know Saint-Étienne very well, so it might have been for my convenience after all that he drive me around. Also I didn't know how to drive stick, which this European Mercedes most definitely was.
Philipe, like Henri, was a fluent English speaker, so I could relax and speak English around him, even though it was safer for me to speak French anywhere that wasn't my home. He was a loyal young man only two years older than me, and he had been contracted by Henri himself.
In fact, everyone in the house had been contracted by Henri himself. All I had to do was hire him, and he immediately took care of the rest. I would forever be in his debt.
Philipe, like a dutiful chauffeur, took me everywhere I needed to go, even the places that I had forgotten. First he took me to the salon, of course, to complete my new look. In a spur of the moment decision, I asked the hairdresser to chop off eighteen inches of my hair and give me a high-low bob of pure gingerness. The haircut itself made me feel like a new woman, and with my thick, dark hair now in layers, the dye process could begin.
First, the hairdresser bleached my hair a pure snow white that made me wish I could tell him to dye it platinum blonde. Even though Saint-Étienne was the French city of modern art and design, I still didn't feel very comfortable taking such a bold step, so I stuck to the dark red. By the time he was done, I was in love.
The red was very reminiscent to the color of blood en masse, but with an orange tint, it looked like a natural rarity. I couldn't help the glee on my face as Philipe and I continued the day's errands. We went shopping for necessities for my closet, and then we went shopping for electronics. I needed a new phone and tablet, considering the cellphone Lina gave me was completely ruined, probably.
The thought that I might have left valuable information in Italy was beginning to piss me off, and I realised what a vital mistake it was for me not to check the vans I wrecked. That fact alone put everything I had in jeopardy. Also, I needed to keep up with the news in Italy. I was certain nothing of mine was left in the DiBiancci house, but if so much as a leg hair was left behind, the police would find it and probably run a DNA match on it. It wasn't like the government had my DNA, but they could find it.
Those thoughts just ruined the rest of my day, but it didn't last long because we passed a pastry shop and I asked Philipe to stop so we could buy macarons. We ended up buying four boxes, each containing three dozen macarons. I had an entire box to myself, of course, so it was going to be a good day indeed. I could just drown my sorrows in sweets.
The last thing we picked up was the tooth flippers, which I had completely forgotten about. Philipe was just as efficient as Henri, which was a life saver for me because my attention span could be incredibly short sometimes. Most of the time.
"Philipe, do we have something else to do today?" I was beginning to feel tired after rounding the city all day, and it was already almost six in the afternoon. "I might be forgetting it and I want to get everything out of the way as soon as possible."
"No, madame. We have successfully completed everything to do today. We have a clear schedule now," Philipe didn't even glance at me through the rearview mirror as he drove, and I looked out the window with my bottom lip between my teeth.
The only thing missing from my transformation was the faux fingertips, which weren't ready yet. I was informed by Philipe that they would be ready for me to pick them up later on in the week. When I had Henri call them and request the specifics, they told him that they would create some for me and continue to do so because the gloves weren't a permanent use thing. Once I slipped them on, I couldn't remove them until they began to break down. At that point I had to go to the lab and get a new set of gloves.
Without those gloves, I was still exposed to potential dangers, so my only option was to stay home until then. I couldn't even set up my phone without the new fingerprints because I knew for a fact that the newest electronics had sensors everywhere. I was scared to even take it out of the box, just in case.
Even though this new cellphone and tablet had facial recognition features, I was still scared to touch it, so I would remain apart from the world for a few more days until it was time for me to retrieve my gloves. This entire transformation had been quite cheap, in my opinion. The face full of fillers had only cost me around a thousand euros, because it wasn't just filler, there was botox too. The hair was no more than one hundred and fifty euros, and the faux teeth were two hundred euros.
The faux fingerprints were the most expensive of all, racking up to thirty-three hundred euros. I was pleased with this, and my love for France grew even more. It was only a matter of time before my plan for revenge could commence, and with the DiBiancci family in prison, it would be all the more easy to swoop in and take what was mine.
Well, it wasn't exactly mine to begin with, but it would be once I stole it.
