Chapter 24: War Begins (2)

Kailar was not used to such nicknames, especially more so for western names.

If he wished to call Attolis a nickname signifying their close relationship, he’d most likely call her Al.

“We’re going straight through Nottingham Forest to arrive at the other side. Thereafter, we’ll be heading towards the edge of the battlefield and survey the situation from there.” Kailar stated his true purpose.

According to calculations, passing the forest with the use of a hybrid horse should allow them to arrive just in time for the first battle against the Gauls.

One must know in order to carry out a fleshed out plan capable of domination, one needed to be well-informed and to have sources in all corners.

Since he’s without one, he had no other choice but to head to the battlefield himself.

Kailar was deeply aware of the troubles brought unto him due to lack of intel.

The two knight apprentice were long frightened and scared out of their wits pondering over their current predicament regarding Nottingham Forest and devil beasts lurking within.

Children entering Nottingham Forest?

Don’t joke around! This is something not even those daring adults dared to do.

Not to mention, Nottingham Forest brimmed with carnivorous devil beasts!

Do you really think devil beasts are herbivores or something? Devil beasts like the unicorns are a rare find, you know!

Staring at the little monster wide-eyed, they thought he’d gone mad.

But it doesn’t matter if he’s mad and crazy. They’d have to follow him regardless.

While fretting in their restless thoughts, Kailar led Gawain and Attolis directly into Nottingham Forest.

The towering trees covering the blemished of sun accompanied by the thick trunks squeezing most of the breathing space emitted a sort of eerie and suffocating pressure which proved stressful to the human nerves, but as a native who’d lived in this world for a decade straight, Kailar found no problems with the surrounding environment.

Rather, he found it serenely tranquil and comfortable.

Arriving at the cabin jutted closely to the outer parts of the forest, Gawain and Attolis bounded their horses to prevent from escaping whereas Kailar patted the unicorn’s neck. In a matter of seconds, it quickly disappeared into the depths of the forest.

Gawain and Attolis raised their brows, rather stunned by the little monster’s actions.

They watched him pull out a large rope and saw a large basket hanging from the sky suddenly fall, landing heavily on the green moss.

Kailar jumped into the basket and quickly beckoned the two over.

Ever since entering the depths of the forest, Gawain and Attolis’s mouth were gaping wide open all along. Now, it grew larger than ever and it looked as if it would not close any time soon.

The two knight apprentice timidly stepped onto the basket.

Kailar handed them a rope after a demonstration. Thereafter, the trio simultaneously applied strength on the rope. Soon, the basket slowly rose in the air giving Gawain and Attolis a huge scare.

The large woven basket slowly rose higher and higher to the top under Kailar’s guidance.

Once reaching the destination point, the trio secured the rope tightly and saw that they arrive at a treehouse.

The two knight apprentice looked all around in majestic wonder.

Sunflowers lined the windowsill like a small, little miniature garden. A large hole jutted to the side was used to collect water and to flower the plants even when absent.
In the middle of the tree was a large wooden house.

The design of the treehouse was well thought out.

If one saw and took a glimpse of it, they’d find themselves the urge to live in such a tranquil place forever.

“Merlin, come out.” Kailar called out.

Then a ripple came through in the air and Merlin lightly jumped out. “How did you know I was here?”

“Birds would most definitely swoop by to eat if you weren’t around. If your presence lingered in the air, they’d dare not come down.” Kailar shook his head. “Anyway, why do you have to propose me the title of a sage? You know I don’t like being in the limelight.”

“You didn’t get anything out of it?” Merlin asked in surprise.

“There is no benefit other than letting those fat lords know I am somewhat an intellect.” Kailar said buttery.

“Eh?” Merlin cried out in disbelief.
