[Tayte’s Ability]
Tayte VS Kleine—one of the matches I’d been looking forward to in this exam was about to begin.
Although neither of them specialized in combat, this kind of exam was unavoidable as long as you went to Astor Academy. In other words, regardless of your circumstances, minimum combat skills were required.
“Tayte…”
There were teachers to ensure her safety, but I still couldn’t help but worry.
I tried to remember scenes where Tayte fought in [The Rising of the Weakest Holy Swordsman], but only a few come to mind.
Looking back, among Raul’s harem members, Tayte was the least active in battles. She rarely used attack magic, which wasn’t weird since she wasn’t specialized in it. That might be part of the reason why she got lesser screen time as the story progressed.
“Begin!”
The teacher acting as the referee gave the signal to start the battle.
Immediately, mana surged out of Tayte and Kleine’s bodies.
“Here I come, Tayte!”
Kleine took the initiative.
She cast a lightning-based spell.
We, members of the light element class, could use magic of all elements in the world depending on our efforts.
If I remembered correctly, Kleine had mentioned before that she could use three elements now. Lightning must be one of the three.
“Ha!”
The lightning arrow she released flew toward Tayte.
Facing it, however, Tayte remained unmoved, her expression flat.
Just as the arrow was about to hit her, it suddenly disappeared with a crackle. Tayte’s specialty defensive magic had been activated.
“Wha?!”
Kleine was astonished.
It came as no surprise to me, contrarily. In the original novel, it was mentioned that no one could beat Tayte when it came to defensive magic.
Her magic specialized in protecting allies.
Naturally she could also use it to protect herself.
“Wow. Her barrier didn’t even ripple.”
“Lady Kleine’s magic was by no means weak… but to break through Young Mistress Tayte’s defensive magic, an attack with a considerable power is required.”
Jarvis and Eureka analyzed.
As her fiancé, I was proud of her—but the problem started here.
Everybody present knew Tayte was excellent when it came to defensive and healing magic.
However, while defending alone was enough to allow her to pass the previous final exams, that wouldn’t cut it this year. Because now that we had entered our final year and was approaching graduation, we were required to be able to hold our own in real combat situations.
“Tayte…”
How was she going to attack Kleine with attack magic, when she wasn’t good at it?
Kleine was already casting her next spell.
“Do your best, Tayte!” I shouted as loud as I could.
Hearing my voice, Tayte turned to me for a moment and gave me her usual smile.
Seemed like she was confident, but… what was she going to do?
