Knight Lord: Start with Daily Intelligence
#102 - Glory to the Holy Relic
Just behind the human army, a group of 160 goblins emerged from the dense undergrowth.
Wielding twin daggers, they charged towards the rear of the human formation, where the more vulnerable ranged units were positioned. These included timid halfling archers and frail Dawn Church nuns, whose melee capabilities were no match for even ordinary goblins.
These vile lurkers were the elite among goblins, adept at employing underhanded tactics, seeking out dirty tricks to ambush or besiege the wounded and defeated.
Even by the standards of cunning goblins, these sneaky lurkers were widely regarded as 'second-rate scum.'
They were elusive, sometimes appearing from between an enemy's legs to attack. Once a vile lurker latched onto an enemy unit, it would employ all sorts of torturous tricks, such as throat-slitting and disembowelment, until discovered and crushed by the enemy.
With the human army launching a full-scale offensive, their vulnerable underbelly was exposed. The goblins gleefully howled as they emerged on the western slope, poised to slip between the legs of the Dawn Church nuns and ravage these delicate women.
The distance was negligible to them, as they carried smoke bombs made of rags, rotten eggs, their own filth, and toenail clippings. These pungent smoke bombs, when thrown, could significantly weaken and curse their opponents, slowing their movements.
Within the smoke, they would activate their racial talent as opportunistic killers, turning all vulnerable enemies into prey to be abused and slaughtered.
With poisoned green scimitars within reach, the halflings and Dawn Church nuns inevitably showed expressions of terror, unwilling to die in such a vile goblin ambush.
Vandal roared in exasperation, "These despicable goblins will stop at nothing to gain an advantage. Cough, cough!"
The pungent gas choked him, causing tears and mucus to stream down his many-stranded, aged beard.
If these goblin lurkers were to reach them, the old druid would soon fall beneath the monsters' daggers.
But at that moment, a clear bugle call sounded from below the high ground, and a team of powerful human heavy cavalry charged with high morale.
The halflings, archer squads, and beautiful nuns on the position cheered enthusiastically.
"Heavens, by the Goddess, it's the lord himself leading the cavalry to save us!"
"We're safe! The lord foresaw the greenskins' despicable ambush and arranged for reinforcements."
"Goddess be praised, my heart is racing. When the lord arrived with his troops, I felt a sacred golden light radiating from him. He's a hero sent by the gods to save me. I... I want to marry him! No! Even serving him once would be enough for me."
Amidst the soldiers' and nuns' cheers, Su Li led a team of shock cavalry, easily crushing all the goblin lurkers into pieces.
These small monsters with daggers could wreak havoc among the halflings and Dawn Church nuns who lacked melee capabilities within the smoke, but they had no chance against the heavy cavalry charge.
Su Li, even as a trainee knight, could easily cleave through three or four goblins. After two cavalry charges, the monsters scattered and fled, screaming.
Amidst the cheers of the ranged soldiers, Su Li led his team to the highest point of the high ground. He wore fine mithril rune armor, gleaming golden in the sunlight, and wielded the blazing Everburning Rune Sword, riding a tall steed and surveying the distant battlefield.
As the saying goes, clothes make the man, and a saddle makes the horse. His tall, heroic image at this moment was completely different from his lazy demeanor in the castle, inspiring all the knights and attendants behind him, greatly boosting their morale. They sincerely believed that their lord's towering figure was the direction they should faithfully follow.
This heroic and wise ruler was the all-knowing figure of Blackwood Territory, the seer of the Acacia family, and the hero who could lead them to one victory after another!
The cheering battlefield ahead further confirmed their thoughts. Five teams of shock cavalry, led by Hilde, repeatedly charged the monsters' formation, finally piercing through their ranks. A large number of greenskin monsters were driven into the great river by the fierce cavalry, and an even larger number were divided and surrounded. As many as a thousand greenskins were cut off by the cavalry on the west side near the downstream of the river.
They were isolated, surrounded on all sides, and although they were greater in number, they were squeezed onto a narrow riverbank of less than an acre, unable to take advantage of their numerical superiority. Instead, the humans surrounded them like an iron bucket, stabbing with spears and causing countless casualties.
The battlefield soon became a river of blood, with large amounts of fresh blood converging into streams flowing eastward from their position towards the Brienne River, forming a river mouth.
The knights galloped over, their hooves trampling the mud, all stained with blood. They crossed the gurgling stream of blood and launched wave after wave of fierce attacks on the enemy on the isolated high ground by the river.
This scene looked extremely magnificent to the humans, and even more terrifying to the greenskins. Many monsters who had not entered the battlefield began to rout, fleeing in droves across the mountains and plains.
Su Li glanced at the time. It was the peak of the Sun Goddess's divine power tide. He decisively ordered, "The entire army chants the Fury Prayer, using all our strength to completely crush the monsters' vanguard."
"At the sound of horns and drums, a thousand riders set out. Evil invaders come, we vow to win."
"Stubborn enemies fall, knights gallop. The Goddess's oath, is now fulfilled."
As the devout prayers of the Sun Goddess Church knights resounded sacredly on the battlefield, divine grace responded to their prayers, and dazzling heavenly fire appeared on the knights' weapons.
This powerful heavenly fire not only greatly increased the armor penetration of their weapons, allowing them to cut through iron like mud, but also blinded people and unlocked the fear-inducing trait.
This fear was not physical or mental, but a fear of holy magic, directly erupting in the opponent's heart and impossible to control.
The knights' spears and swords were covered with blazing heavenly fire, and they launched fierce, full-strength attacks. The courage of any enemy struck by their weapons imbued with heavenly fire instantly collapsed.
The stubbornly resisting monsters finally crumbled, and thousands of monsters fled in panic across the plains, abandoning their armor and weapons in utter defeat.
The knights immediately cheered and launched a pursuit. The convict soldiers also gained courage, though they could not match the knights' bravery and ferocity in repeatedly charging the enemy's formation. But they would not miss this opportunity to beat a dog in the water. Being able to cut off three goblin heads would release them from slavery, and they would chase even if they foamed at the mouth.
Their pursuit speed was obviously not as fast as the elite knights. The knights on tall steeds charged into the monsters' massive wave, unafraid of the hundreds of enemies around them. A mere few dozen knights dared to slash and kill at will in the thousands of greenskin tide.
They chased too fast and too deep, even running ahead of most of the greenskins. If these greenskins could regroup, thousands of monsters could swarm up and tear all the knights to pieces in an instant.
But obviously this was impossible. This greenskin tide was a collection of goblins from many tribes. These monsters were originally independent of each other and had been completely scattered, becoming a pile of loose sand, unable to organize any effective resistance.
This was the best opportunity for the knights to gain divine grace. They slashed and killed frantically, each knight killing at least twenty or thirty monsters.
The knights who believed in Yurick immediately broke through, and the territory gained a new elite knight.
But the knights' exhilarating pursuit did not last long. They suddenly found the retreating goblins wailing miserably. Many monsters fleeing forward did not even care about the terrible spear blades of the knights behind them, crying for their parents and running to both sides.
Hilde withdrew her slashing sword, her chest heaving slightly, and looked at the behemoths rushing over like mountains and seas in front of her.
The Anaryk Giant Spiders, worshiped as gods by the Broken Toe Tribe, had finally arrived on the battlefield!
Three enormous giant spiders moved slowly, like three millstones sitting in the wide army formation. Their sharp claws were as terrible as blades, each claw as large as a windmill fan. If they hit an opponent, they could easily cut an elite knight and his horse in two!
This was the most terrifying demon of the goblin tribe. Any enemy blocking their claws would be crushed to pieces.
Hilde immediately raised her right arm, held up her long sword, and shouted, "The entire army gathers, charge with me!"
Faced with this terrifying monster, the human knights had no other choice but to charge with all their strength. Only a mountain of flesh and blood could push down these three behemoths.
The Broken Toe Tribe's leader, Gorzkil Broken Toe, riding a giant wolf, roared in exasperation, "Stop them, kill all these damned humans. We must immediately gather these cowardly deserters! They are a disgrace to our goblins."
Faced with the goblin reinforcements, the human knights were obviously determined to fight and did not intend to give the opponent any chance to regroup.
Su Li led the main force to the battlefield and immediately raised the Windwing Sigil, which glowed with colorful light. This sacred treasure had never been activated on the battlefield since it came into his hands. Today was the time for this glorious relic to show its power!
As the glorious relic was activated, a golden pillar of light shot straight into the sky from the middle of the battlefield. The clear sky was quickly covered by dark clouds, which seemed to press down to less than a hundred meters above the battlefield. Then, a powerful divine force surged, and a huge wind vortex formed in the sky.
A gale rose, stirring up large amounts of grass clippings and gravel. The surrounding trees swayed, and the sky and earth were instantly dark.
Then, the gale swept through like a thousand riders, roaring through the knights' formation and blowing fiercely towards the monsters on the opposite side.
Even the enormous Anaryk Giant Spiders swayed in the gale. Their eight giant claws dug more than a meter deep into the ground, but they were still blown back by the hurricane, leaving deep ravines on the ground.
Ordinary goblins and greenskin boys were simply unable to resist this terrible divine power. They turned their heads to avoid the hurricane's sacred majesty, barely able to hold onto their battle knives stuck in the ground to maintain their positions.
Those monsters who faced the hurricane and refused to bow their heads or turn around, even the strong trolls, were directly swept into the air by the hurricane, blown hundreds of meters away, and fell heavily to the ground.
The more they faced the majesty of the glorious relic, the higher the price they paid, regardless of their size or strength. In the face of divine power, they had to bow their heads!
The opportunity could not be missed. The knights immediately sounded the military horn, and Su Li personally charged to the front, raising his sword and shouting, "The entire army charges! Sweep away the evil in one fell swoop!"
