The dismantling work continued on, but the process of draining blood from the dragon corpse wasn’t all that complex, and frankly, watching it was pretty boring. We’ve been watching for most of the morning and I already felt we’ve observed plenty enough.

I guess we should wrap this up now.

“It looks like the remaining members of A Team have come back. Let’s go and meet up with them, everyone.”

“Eh!? Of course, we should. Let’s go!”

All thirty-nine Clan members present outside, including us, received the A Team members who escorted the captured bandits back to the city.

“Ooh! It’s Alan-sama! It looks like he’s okay everyone!”

“Ah, that’s wonderful!”

It looks like I really caused them to worry this time huh. Oh, right. I guess I’ll have to explain what happened to me all over again……

“Alan-sama, we’ll handle briefing them about all that’s happened, so go ahead and hand over the bandits to the authorities.”

The ones who offered to do so were Kenny and Walter from the late earl’s private troops. It looks like they noticed I was getting pretty fed up about explaining about the dragon and stuff. And I truly was quite fed up with repeating my story over and over, so I accepted their goodwill and let them handle briefing the rest of the members.

Rounding up bandits was a designated request we took from the Commerce Guild. And so, it would be more appropriate if the Shining Star party – meaning me and the girls – were the ones to hand them over.

“We’re here to hand over bandits. Please handle it for us.”

“Understood! Please wait for a moment, sir!”

The city guard sped away in a fluster to call his superiors over. Before long, more than five men came out of the city guard office. Captain Guido wasn’t present among them, but they all looked quite professional and took brisk steps toward us.

“We’ll be taking these felons off of your hands, sir. We’ll be borrowing the chain cuffs as usual, if it’s alright with you.”

“Please, go right ahead.”

It kinda feels like the soldiers were quicker to respond and acted more politely when talking to us today. Maybe it’s a result of what happened yesterday. My reputation seems to have really shot up huh.

“I’ve already had my fill of watching the dismantling process guys. Do you want to have some lunch now?”

“Sure. Let’s go. We’ll have to prepare for the dinner banquet early in the afternoon after all.”

“Eh!? But the banquet would be starting at six in the evening you know?”

Everyone in the party was looking at me quizzically. It was as if they were asking ‘So what’s your point?’ or something. I just said something unnecessary huh.

Walter and the rest kept watching the dissection work seemingly without getting tired of it. Well, it was a day off anyway. So I guess it’s okay as long as they’re enjoying themselves.

After having our lunch at the restaurant near the Clan Home, I decided to take an afternoon nap since it was a day off. As for preparing for the banquet, it probably won’t take more than an hour, including bathing time.

Since it was about time for the carriage to arrive, I went down to the dining hall to wait for Cleria and the others.

“Ooh! Alan-sama! That appearance–!?”

Come to think of it, this was the first time I wore my imperial military uniform in front of the other Clan members apart from my party huh.

“It’s my formal suit. What do you think everyone? Pretty cool, right?”

“Yes, it looks so wonderful! It suits you very well!”

Well, it’s an imperial military uniform after all. I’d be more shocked if they told me that it didn’t suit me. Oh, it looks like Cleria and the others have come down as well.

“Ooh! What a sight!”

Everyone was at a loss for words when they saw Cleria, Elna, Sharon, and Selena in their formal dresses. There seem to be some of them who couldn’t help but kneel down. It looks like imperial-style dresses really do have quite an impact.

“Alan-sama, the carriage has arrived.”

Nice timing. It looks like Karina-san came along with the carriage as expected. We extended our thanks and promptly boarded the carriage.

I asked about the progress of the dismantling work and it looks like it’s proceeding smoothly. Normally, when dissecting large monsters, the materials harvested from them may deteriorate if a long time is taken to transport them to a suitable facility within cities, but this time, the dissection site was quite close to Gantz, so the materials can be harvested without any danger of deterioration and dropping in quality.

As soon as we arrived at Silas-san’s mansion, we were immediately taken to the dining hall. Silas-san, Arista-san, and Natalie-san all came out to welcome us.

“It’s great that you all could come, Alan.”

“Thank you very much for your gracious invitation this evening.”

“I’ve prepared some special alcohol for this occasion. Let’s get started then.”

We took our seats and started having dinner.

The special alcohol Silas-san referred to was poured into my glass by a server. I should extend the proper courtesy by earnestly sampling some.

“This is–!?”

I thought the special alcohol was the exact same kind I was served with the last time we had dinner here, but it’s not. Was it because this thing’s alcohol content was higher!? No. The alcohol content certainly was high, but the taste is also superb. Oh, so that’s it.

“It looks like you’ve managed to produce it already?”

“Yes, that’s right. What do you think? Is the taste fine?”

“Yes, it’s been made quite well.”

The recipe for this alcohol was made by Iris using the simulation module, so I haven’t actually tasted the real thing yet myself. However, it was certainly much better than the alcohol I drank last time, so I think this is fine.

Well, it still doesn’t quite compare to alcohol produced in the empire, but that can’t be helped.

“Do you think this alcohol would taste better if it was aged in wooden barrels?”

“Yes, that’s undoubtedly the case. I think it should be aged for at least three years.”

The alcohol I drank just now was something of a sham that was made by blending different types of unaged samples until it somehow turned out decent enough to drink. I’m sure it won’t stand a chance compared to a properly barrel-aged sample.

“I’m not saying I doubt your words, but to think there would be alcohol in this world even more delicious than this one. Alright then, Alan. With this, our request for developing a new type of alcohol has been fulfilled. I’ve already prepared 1,500,000 Guineas. Please don’t forget to claim it before you leave tonight.”

“Thank you very much.”

Now, this is some nice additional income. It looks like we can send money to our allies again with this.

“Also, let me extend my thanks for your request regarding the dragon. I never imagined our guild branch would be able to clinch such a huge deal. You’ll let us manage auctioning off the materials as well, of course?”

“So an auction really is needed?”

“But of course. With the number of materials to be harvested, we have no choice but to hold an auction for them.”

“If that’s the case, then I leave it to you.”

Of course, it’ll depend on how the process of being conferred a noble title will be conducted. If they’ll require the dragon materials to be handed over for the sake of promotion, I’ll have to put a stop to auctioning off the materials.

The dinner proceeded smoothly as we engaged in small talk. Whoah, this appetizer is really good.

Cleria and the others were having a great time talking to Arista-san about Gloria.

“However, Alan, you’ve certainly become the man of the hour this time. There is no longer anyone in Gantz who doesn’t know of you and your Clan. No, I believe that’s not all. There have been quite a few rumors about you and your Clan’s exploits in the capital as well.”

“That’s certainly some very welcome news! By the way, I’ve been told it would be possible for me to get conferred a title this time, Silas-san. What’s your opinion regarding that?”

“Alan, don’t tell me you wanna receive a noble title?”

“Well, I’m certainly interested in it.”

“Now that’s a surprise. And here I’d thought you’d actually refuse even if such an offer came. But a title huh…… Well, you slew a dragon after all. It could very well be the case. At the very least, I think you’d get offered the title of a knight or baron.”

Oh! It looks like there’s a chance after all. But it won’t do if I don’t at least become a baron. Should I really offer the dragon materials then?
