Labyrinth Restaurant
Bean dishes for elves
My name is Time. It's an elf who makes a living a wandering painter.
Although he was only about 250 years old, he was worthy of continuing his training while traveling for nearly a hundred years since he flew out of his hometown forest, and now he could raise his arms to the point where he could be complacent that there was no one lined up that way.
Life is really great now that you can travel as you please and draw what you want.
This would not be very much the case if we stayed stuck in our hometown woods.
I have nothing to be concerned about, though.
I have no regrets about my hometown, but I sometimes remember my life back then.
For example, yes… during meals.
By the way, I've asked a human acquaintance before, and they think we elves are all vegetarian vegetarians among humans.
Indeed, there are families and individuals of doctrine who only consume vegetative meals, but my family of origin, besides mushrooms and fruits, hunted rabbits, deer and other beasts to obtain meat, and occasionally fished in the river.
I like meat one way or another, but when I left the woods and was invited to a meal by a human friend, etc., I was strangely cared for because of that assumption, and I used to have feathers that only one person would eat a meal of vegetable salad while watching others eat the meat looking delicious, but Arre was really hard in the mood of being a cow. I can't complain because I can see you're doing it in good faith.
In addition to picking food from the woods in my hometown, I grew several types of legumes, vegetables, and so on in the field, but when I was a young girl, I didn't really like the flavor and texture of beans, which often bothered my parents when I wasted time wanting meat.
But it's also ironic that now that I earn enough money to eat whatever I want as a wandering painter, it's that bean I hated that makes me want to eat asexually from time to time.
I don't really hate it or leave it as much as I did when I was a kid, but I still don't think that tasteless flavor of legumes tastes very good.
I also think it's strange that I want to eat something that doesn't taste good, but I can't help but want to eat it.
It must be like a ritual for me to remember my hometown.
Well, I'll change my mind, but this happened in the town I stopped by the other day.
"Come on, maybe you're drunk already?
No, no, no, no, no. It's true.
♪ There's a restaurant in the deepest part of the labyrinth serving delicious food ♪
That's what I heard from a friend I haven't seen in a long time for thirty years, a man who is now guild leader for the Adventurer's Guild in this town.
At first I also thought it was some kind of joke, but the guy is not a meaningless liar, and I heard the same story from several other adventurers. It would then be harder not to be interested because everyone who talks is going to recall the flavor and bring yodale, while the dishes in that store are heated up about how delicious they are.
I might get some painting inspiration, and even if it isn't, it's eaten with me to the extent of the crowd, and I'd love to try it if it's so delicious.
That's how he went for the labyrinth and somehow came to the store through the deepest direct transfer line warp gate that was at the entrance to the labyrinth.
But if the entrance and deepest are direct, what's the point of this labyrinth?
That's how I came to the front of the store and tried to open the door, and I noticed a flashy color novoli next to the door.
It says, "There's a bean fair going on," but what do you mean?
A cute “Demon" girl with blonde hair, dressed as a waiter, greeted me as I walked into the store with her neck tilted.
Ha? The Demon Clan should have pulled into the demon world for hundreds of years since the previous Demon King was defeated by the brave, but why are they cooking here?
The mystery only deepens.
Apparently, the girl also noticed that I had “noticed," but the lack of animosity and harmfulness can be seen in the magic stream, and she came to dinner today in the first place.
We decide not to touch each other about it, but to direct our interest to the cook.
I was led to my seat and handed the menu, but I was surprised there first. Isn't there an elaborate picture on the whole page as if the dish had been sealed on paper as it were?
As a painter's end, I honestly regret it, but it's impossible to paint so elaborately in my arms right now.
I didn't know the Demons had so many painters with arms...
Yeah, let's hear about the Novoli in front of the store.
"What happened to the“ Bean Fair ”in front of the store?
…… Today, the price of a dish made with beans is one piece of copper coin, and if you order one more dish, it is completely free after the second item. So if you don't mind ordering!
Why does this kid come to such a eating mood...?
The price is a little suspicious too...
But it's a bean......, speaking of which, I also made it in my home field. I boil it with salt and eat it, but when I was a kid, I couldn't help but hate it.
But I kind of miss it, and shall I ask for one or so dishes? There's probably no more unsavory food out there than you can't eat than served at the store.
But the names of the dishes on the menu are mostly unfamiliar.
In the meantime, I ordered a simmering dish called "pee pee" with beans. Soup or stew with beans, apparently. The painting on the menu looks like it contains some kind of white utensil, but is it some kind of meat or vegetable?
Wait a few minutes with half the expectations, half the anxiety, etc. An earlier girl came back with a pot of cooking.
"This is the 'juice powder' you ordered. Take your time."
I'll observe the "pee" in the tiny wooden jar placed in front of me, but for now, it doesn't smell bad.
Then, first, transport the juice with plenty of beans to a slightly soggy mouth with a wooden spoon to try a bite.
But I shouted so much surprise there.
"Sweet!?"
Yes, the beans are sweet.
Usually when it comes to bean dishes, they just boil in salt, or at best enough to season with spices and herbs, but this dish called "pee" is sweetly flavored.
I guess they use expensive sugar at all costs to extrapolate from this strong sweetness.
The first bite was surprising and I couldn't taste it properly, but then I try another bite.
There is no unique bossy texture of legumes and no unpleasant odor. The flavor of beans remains moderate and rather appetizing.
The next thing I noticed that confirmed the taste of the juice part was the mysterious white object floating in the middle of the jaw.
It's not meat from what I've seen, nor is it like vegetables or fruit.
I notice a strange thing where I tried to bite off an unknown ingredient by putting it in my mouth only in a frightening bite. Oh, my God, that white object has grown!
I've only eaten about as much cheese as some of the long (elves) raw, such as strange ingredients that stretch and shrink, but this is obviously not cheese. Maybe it's a product of the demonic world.
At first, I was surprised by the texture, but when I tasted it carefully, it had a slight sweetness different from the juice part.
It is still delicious to eat this white food and bean juice together. Sometimes it wasn't that big, and I quickly finished eating "pee".
But I have a lot of room for my stomach. I don't know why, but he said it was free after the second item, so I won't hesitate to take it.
When I asked the girl at the service to add some bean dishes, they carried enough plates to fill the table shortly. (By the way, I didn't know what the dish was called, so I ordered it on my own)
"Amitsu," "Dorayaki," "Dafuku," "Tuna," "Little Bean Ice Cream," "Kakan," "Kintsuba," "Little Bean Roll Cake," "Calf," etc…
At first I was surprised at the dish out of common sense: sweet bean dishes, but all of this was really delicious. I just thought he was a thug with nothing but battles, such as the Demons, but I'm surprised he had such a food culture. I have to change my perception of this.
That's how I ate and drank until I was about to get hungry, and then I left the store behind.
But I could also feel free to eat all that and a piece of copper coin, so I tried to give him the silver coin, but he refused.
I still don't know why it's so cheap or why I'm running a restaurant there...
My interest had already shifted not to such triviality, but to an odd baked sweet in the form of fish, the "yaki I wanted", which I had wrapped in a souvenir, and I walked home to town imagining the flavor.
