Lady Misfortune: Daddy, I'll Be A Righteous Villainess!

Chapter 73 - Full Of Whatever That S-Word Is

The morning rolls on by – and Lady thinks that Weiss is starting to get fed up with being her seatmate, which, unbeknownst to her, isn't really the case.

Second period is Civics. This was the first time they were on the same page that day. They both scowl at their Civics teacher as soon as the class begins – but for different reasons.

She seems indifferent at first. That's until she raises her voice as loud as possible and orders, "SEATS. NOW."

"Mrs. Verosica," Weiss muttered under his breath while Lady huffed as if agreeing with his hostile tone.

Thirty minutes into the discussion, and she finally decided to pass a note to him – just like what they did during the first day of class. She was glad that he wrote a reply and passed it back. 'That means he's not really mad at me, right?' she thought.

Mrs. Verosica was a retired soldier.

Everyone had heard her story. In the past, she had led a platoon with her husband who was a good six years older than her and had served in the army for much longer. During a missile attack many years ago, she had nearly died. Her spouse wasn't as lucky, though – he didn't have the 'nearly'.

She had left the army and built some sort of life out of her widowhood. She'd been a novelty back in the day – a former soldier teaching Civics and Economics, it was amazing. That didn't last for long, though. The absurdity of it all had eventually become a normality.

In the present, Mrs. Verosica is really just feared by most students.

She teaches well enough, but she's incredibly strict. Worse, she treats students like they're training for war. Everyone always finds themselves burned out after her classes. Almost everyone.

Unlike the others in the class who had Mrs. Verosica for Economics last year, Lady hadn't burned out at all.

She'd been fired up if anything. And the flame has yet to die out.

'Mrs. Verosica is full of shit,' she wrote angrily into her note.

She then passed it aggressively to Weiss who was drolly observing her. Recalling that Fallon also mentioned that phrase at one point yesterday, he peered at the paper intently with furrowed brows.

'Full of shit? I heard it before. But what does it really mean?' he wrote back.

Lady gapes at Weiss. Unfortunately, Mrs. Verosica noticed.

"Ms. Mireille…!" their teacher called out in a loud, booming voice.

"Do you want to catch flies with your mouth?! Are you incapable of keeping it shut?!"

"No, Ma'am…" her student retorted fearlessly.

"What about you? Are you incapable of talking normally?"

"THAT'S DETENTION FOR YOU, MS. MIREILLE!"

Mrs. Verosica glowers at Lady. Weiss decides to intervene.

The whole class watches three different bombs go off in awe.

"Excuse me, Mrs. Verosica, but I believe that the recently updated school handbook has a clause that prohibits teachers from giving students detention on the first two weeks of class. I'd think a retired sergeant like you would have read that," said the first bomb, Weiss.

The catch is, there's no clause in the student handbook that says teachers can't give students detention in the first two weeks. He's only bluffing.

"HAVE YOU NO RESPECT FOR YOUR SUPERIORS, BOY?" exclaimed the second bomb, Mrs. Verosica.

The catch is, she completely believes Weiss and is thoroughly mortified. She hadn't read the updated handbook at all. Normally, only the existing rules are revised. She can't believe she's being busted out by him out of all people.

"Excuse me. Weiss holds a lot of respect, Ma'am. I think you're just upset because he's calling you out on your lack of regard for the school rules," chimed the third bomb, Lady.

The catch is, there's no catch. She is just pointing out the truth.

Mrs. Verosica hasn't felt this exposed since her wedding night. She glares at Weiss and Lady before returning to the front of the classroom.

For the rest of the period, she did not disturb them.

'That was awesome!' read Lady's note.

'We're just lucky. What made you say something like that in the first place?' replied Weiss.

'I have my reasons.'

He mentally lists that down. Opting to divert the topic, he writes, 'Hey, you never told me what 'full of shit' means. I can't imagine someone being filled with… well, feces.'

She tries her hardest not to laugh out loud. He can be such a pure, innocent soul sometimes.

'It's a slang term, I think, but I prefer to call it an idiom. Full of shit can mean a lot of negative things. Here, I'm basically saying Mrs. Verosica is RIDICULOUS.'

'Wow. I've never heard of slang terms before. But I also do find the way Mrs. Verosica converses with you ridiculous. I can practically hear that she's on caps lock.'

'She is. ALWAYS. On caps lock. And how have you not heard of slang before?!'

'Let's just say I was never exposed to many things as a child.'

'Well, then, you've got a lot to learn, buddy. I'LL GLADLY TEACH YOU.'

Lady had scribbled stars around the last sentence. Weiss found it oddly endearing.

'Yes, she's the only caps lock that's worth listening to. Everyone else's full of shit.'

---

After that incident with Mrs. Verosica and a series of note-passing, Lady was finally convinced that Weiss wasn't fed up with being her seatmate after all – not yet, at least.

To be sure, she decided to bring up the question as soon as break time arrived. She didn't know why she didn't just write it down earlier. It's probably because she felt like it's a topic they should talk about personally - not through a piece of paper.

"What? I'm not angry at you, Lady. Why would you think that?" was what Weiss answered, which he knew was kind of stupid.

Of course, she would think like that. He had given her the cold shoulder just a few hours ago.

"Okay, listen. I was an idiot for telling you to back off when you're just nothing but concerned. Forgive me. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings or anything. It's not my intention. I'm so sorry," Weiss apologized.

"You want me to forgive you?" Lady blurted out, blinking several times.

"Uh, yeah? I offended you, right?"

"Hmmm… Alright. I'll accept your apology. But in one condition."

"Huh?"

"Go to the clinic with me."

And of course, she would bring that up again.

He really doesn't feel as feverish as earlier. But since he's on a mission to earn her forgiveness, he finally decided to give in. He did think that it's nothing short of a miracle that he made it until break time. So, just to be safe, he will take this opportunity to check if he can last until the day ends.

And so, to the nurse's office, they went – only to find it unattended.

"Makes sense. Everyone's out having a break right now," Weiss commented with a shrug.

"Do not fret! Despite how I look, I can take care of people!" Lady enthused.

"What? Are you going to play nurse for me?"

"Well, why not? No one else's here, anyway. It's just us two."

She had him sit down on the bed right beside the window, and only then did the implication of their words finally registered in his head. His face burns up at the realization, his brain running through a hundred thoughts per second.

Play nurse. No one else's around. Just them two.

"Let me check your temp first," Lady started, making Weiss snap out of it.

"U-Ummm… Lady."

"Yeah?"

"N-Nothing."

Unlike him, she did not seem to notice the implication. She looks totally fine with it.

'Get a grip, Weiss. Instead of embarrassing yourself with all this nonsense, why not take this chance to ask her everything you wanted to ask yesterday? There's a lot to talk about, you know. Also, you have Lady all for yourself for thirty minutes-'

He had to stop himself there. He's definitely in flames right now.

"See?! You look more feverish than before!" Lady screeched, appalled.

"I-It's not that, Lady. I'm r-really not that h-hot," Weiss stuttered, flustered.

"That's it. Lie down in bed."

"Wait, what?"

"I said lie down. Go rest."

"What if I ended up falling asleep?"

"Then, good. Better, actually."

"No. We're not gonna miss any more classes."

"I'm pretty sure our next teachers will allow it if I tell them about your condition."

"They'll allow me to be excused! But not you!"

"Huh? What do you mean?"

She tilts her head at that and sent him a quizzical look. He immediately zips his mouth, having realized that he's just had a slip of the tongue.

"Nevermind. Just lie down already. I'll go over there and check the nurse's cabinet," Lady muttered, dropping the topic in favor of seeking the right medicine for Weiss.

He watches her turn around and walk over to the cabinet. Seeing how serious she was about this, he finally complies and lays down in the bed. He should really stop arguing with her and just be grateful for her help instead.

Perhaps, Weiss should also start getting serious - he needs to confront Lady about yesterday.
