Lady Misfortune: Daddy, I'll Be A Righteous Villainess!

Chapter 82 - The Villainess And The Heroine's Showdown Going Haywire

Another day, another chapter.

So far, most of the things that happened during the previous weeks were in accordance with the story. However, the main event is yet to take place. This incident, in particular, is significant for the progression of the plot. Therefore, even if it comes to the point where the end doesn't justify the means on Lady's part, this must be put into play.

Classes have just been dismissed to lunch when Ms. Mirabella suddenly called Lady.

"Can I have a second, Ms. Lady Mireille?"

Lady turns back and walks over to the teacher's desk. She looks at Weiss who's waiting for her outside of the classroom and asks him to wait.

"Ms. Sarah Gracelyn, you may come in. I need to talk to both of you."

Sarah entered then, nonplussing Weiss. He didn't even notice that she's standing behind him the whole time. Lady doesn't look that startled, though. He wonders if she's expecting this to happen.

Sarah stood next to Lady.

She gave her a look that only she would dare give her. From that alone, anyone can tell that their relationship is getting worse and worse by the day.

"Whatever this is, it's her fault. I haven't done anything," Sarah huffed.

"Be quiet, you. Don't accuse me for no reason," Lady muttered.

"I don't know what this is about, and I'm sure I haven't caused any problem."

"Oh, yeah? Why don't we hear it from Ms. Mirabella then?"

Her class adviser gave both of them a serious look. She then pulled out two pieces of paper from the drawers of the teacher's desk and placed them on top of it. They looked down and realized that these were the essays that they wrote as an assignment for their joint discussion the other day.

"I hope you understand why I am showing you this."

Ms. Mirabella put her hands on her hips and peered at them with a displeased frown. Sarah and Lady exchanged looks before shaking their heads in confusion.

"I really hate to break this to you, but I have no choice but to give you two afterschool detention. I will see both of you here once school is over," Ms. Mirabella ordered.

"What? But I haven't done anything. I'm innocent. It's all her fault," Lady protested - so quickly and confidently it earned a strange look from Sarah.

"I'm very disappointed that two of my students with great writing skills would copy from each other. Your works are not identical in structure, but all the ideas are exactly the same. There's no way I can believe that you two didn't copy from each other. The evidence is right there on the papers."

Just when Lady was about to say something again, Sarah lets out a soft laugh all of the sudden. Ms. Mirabella stared at her with an arched brow.

"Me? Copy from her…?" she scoffed.

"That's just too hilarious, Ma'am. I have no need to do such a thing from someone who isn't even at the top thirty of the class. My work is unique. She's most probably the one that copied from me. Isn't that already obvious? Compared to me, she's the one who doesn't take her studies seriously."

Lady shot her a glare in an attempt to make her stop spatting out more nonsense. In response, Sarah simply lifted her chin and flashed her a smirk.

"What? Got anything to say?"

"I believe you're just bitter about having to stay after class last time."

"That's none of your business. At least, I'm good with other subjects, unlike a certain someone. You're barely even passing."

Lady and Sarah continue throwing insults back and forth. With a scowl, Ms. Mirabella sighs, "Silence, you two."

"She started it!" they both exclaimed in sync.

"We're not getting any close to solving the problem by arguing. Why don't you just admit that you did it and come to detention later?"

"No. I can't do something like that. I haven't done anything wrong! I haven't copied anything from anyone, especially Lady. I don't have proof, but please, Ma'am, you must believe me! I have never copied from my classmates, so why would I start to do that now? We're not even in the same section!"

"Enough already. I already said arguing isn't going to get you out of this. I wish I could believe you, but your essays are just too similar. Your teacher in this subject had planned to report this to the principal. Be grateful that I stepped in and offered to handle the matter instead. I can't assume anything else. I'm just doing what any teacher would do. I'll get in trouble if I let things like this slide."

Sarah looked straight at Ms. Mirabella. She's starting to get frustrated by the whole situation, but nothing's more frustrating to her than Lady.

"I didn't do anything. Please, Ms. Mirabella. Don't make me stay for detention with Mireille."

"Shut up, Gracelyn. Everything's your fault. You should learn to keep your eyes to yourself. Do your own work from now on."

"Excuse me? Are you sure I'm the one who's supposed to be hearing that?"

"You've been slacking off, and you know it. You don't pay attention in class, and you don't study in the library as much as you used to. Just admit that you aren't focused anymore."

Curling her fists, she glowered at Lady. Her sharp, narrowed eyes are piercing her dead. Sarah is mad right now. It's a rare occurrence that only she is capable of causing.

"Just what do you know about me, huh…?" she growled with a low, raspy voice.

"You're the one who's harassing me non-stop for the past weeks, acting all high and mighty just because you're close with Weiss Saoirse and Fallon Mireille. I'm aware that being part of that family isn't enough to make you act so bold and audacious, you know. You're nothing but a burden to them, after all, and you're just a brat who leeches off of those around you. I bet it's only a matter of time before they see just how rotten you are and leave you."

Lady looked like she's had enough of it. Even then, Sarah ranted on and on.

She was ready to pounce on her at that moment. But a strong pair of arms suddenly grabbed her around the waist, stopping her from advancing. Even though she didn't turn to look, she knew by the way they're holding her that it was Weiss. Knowing that wasn't enough to make her snap out of it, though.

"Listen here, you! Don't involve my family and friends in this! Else, you'll regret messing with me big time!" Lady bellowed angrily.

"Chill out, Lady! Surely, there's another way to solve this!" Weiss cried out.

"I'll stay for detention if she admits that she's the one that cheated off me!"

"I'm not admitting something that I didn't do! I'll stay for detention if she admits that she's a loser and that she's the one that cheated off of me!" Sarah shouted indignantly.

"Ha! As if I'd do that!"

"Stop this madness! That's it! I may have to call your parents! This behavior is getting out of hand!" Ms. Mirabella cut in exasperatedly.

Sarah gasped at this while Lady fell quiet. Not waiting for them to talk back again, Ms. Mirabella glanced at Weiss knowingly - and that was enough to pass the message.

He nodded at her before lifting his classmate and dragging her out of there.

"Huh?! Hey, Weiss! You're seriously gonna carry me like this?! Put me down! What do you think you're doing?! This isn't funny! I can walk on my own!"

He simply ignores Lady and continues on his way. Before he walks past Sarah, though, he stops. Weiss then shifts his head to look at her tauntingly.

"You should be careful with your words, Gracelyn. This has nothing to do with ranks and positions anymore. I'll deal with you myself, got that? I don't even have to use anything to get back to you if you try to hurt her," he warned her with an icy-cold expression.

"Oh, I'm not scared of you. Don't think you can get away with all of these just because you have your parents backing you up. Soon enough, whatever game you've been playing with me will be out in the open. I'll make sure you and Lady are gonna regret pulling those stupid stunts," she snapped at him in calm rage.

Lady couldn't help but cringe upon hearing that. She tried to squirm her way out, but Weiss kept a tight grip on her.

She didn't know he could carry her this easily. It's only recently when she found out that he's physically weaker than her, after all. She wondered if he'd been working out.

But that's not important right now. There's a more pressing matter at hand.

Before Lady could begin another round of shouting, however, Weiss already turned around and walked away, leaving Sarah and Ms. Mirabella behind in the classroom.

"No, wait! I'm not done yet! There's still something I've got to say! Hey, listen!" she kept pleading, but it all fell on deaf ears.
