Lady Spring

Chapter 1.3

When Saeun came out from the bathroom, Wooyoung had the sliding door opened and was watching TV. His face was still very swollen, but he looked better in dry clothes. The tshirt fit him decently, but the sweat pants only reached his calves, reminding Saeun of an old comedy show. Hiding her laugh with a cough, she asked him,

“You should at least wash your face. I will put some ointment on it. Are the cuts really bad?”

“They aren’t bad. My nose isn’t broken, so I’m sure it’s all fine. If I get permanent scars, I’ll just get plastic surgery.”

Wow. I guess plastic surgery wasn’t a big deal to him since he was a celebrity. Saeun shrugged her shoulders, but she noticed Wooyoung’s face crumple in pain as he stood up from the sofa.

“Did you hurt somewhere else other than your face too?”

“Can I take a shower? I won’t use up all of your hot water.”

She, the owner of this house, didn’t even get to shower, so how could he even ask? Saeun glared at him. She wanted to say something mean, but it wasn’t like she could say no. When she finally nodded, he grinned.

“Thanks, Class President. Even in high school, I always thought you’re a good person. Too nice, maybe.”

“Me?”

Nobody has ever called her nice. Her eyes widened, but Wooyoung just waved his hand and disappeared into the bathroom. Sitting down on the exact spot he was sitting, Saeun thought about what he had just said to her.

A good person? Her? All through high school, she was known to be the cold and unlikable nerd who only cared about her grade. Even in college, she was complimented for her academic achievements, but not on her personality. It was even worse when she began working.

Omg. Min Wooyoung has been in the entertainment industry during the last 10 years. This must’ve been why an ordinary girl like her looked like a nice person to him. Shaking her head sympathetically, she stood up to get the medicine box.

“Where did this happen?”

“At a bar. O…ouch!”

Wooyoung frowned and screamed when the disinfectant touched his face. Saeun rolled her eyes, but she began to clean his wounds more gently before handing him the ointment.

“Put this on your face. Gosh, how will you work with that face now?”

“Obviously, I won’t be working for a while.”

Wooyoung smiled innocently as he uncapped the ointment and handed it back to her.

“You do it.”

“You can do it yourself.”

When Saeun replied firmly, Wooyoung pouted his lips, which were cut badly.

“But I can’t see my wounds on my face.”

This situation was surreal enough already, yet he wanted her to touch his idol face with her finger too? Just cleaning his face with alcohol-soaked cotton was going to be enough to get her cursed by his fan club. Saeun frowned.

“Do it yourself. The mirror is right beside you.”

“Tsk. You’re playing hard to get again.”

He murmured quietly as if he could read her mind. Pulling the mirror closer to him, Wooyoung began to apply the ointment on his face. Saeun stood up and began to act busy by organizing her medicine box. Was she that easy to read?

In truth, she wanted to touch his face. She rarely got the chance to touch a man’s face, and applying the ointment was a perfect excuse. In her 27 years of life, this was the first time she invited a man to her place. She had never even invited a friend over, so wasn’t it her right to touch his face if she wanted to?

Of course not. Her cold logical sanity pointed out the reality to her. That man was a star. He lived in a totally different world from her. He was on TV. He got paid a fortune for appearing on TV ads. She should be thankful that a star like that even entered her humble home.

You want to touch his face? Then you have lost your mind, Yun Saeun.

“What are you going to do if you can’t work? Shouldn’t you contact your agency? Do people know where you are?”

Wooyoung shrugged his shoulders. When she looked back at him while putting away the medicine box, all she could see was his wide shoulders. His ear-length hair was still wet, but it shined more beautifully than any woman’s hair.

“It doesn’t matter.”

“Of course it does. I don’t want people to think I kidnapped you or something. Or they might think I’m a stalker. As soon as the rain stops, you need to leave,”

She frowned and after closing the cabinet door, she turned towards him. He was still turned away from her, staring at the mirror on the floor and applying the ointment on his face.

“Are you scared that you might get in trouble if you return looking like that? You live in a place your agency got for you with the other members, right? Is that why you are acting like this?”

Wooyoung glanced at her. His eyes were swollen, but his jet black pupils were clear.

“How did you know where I live?”

“Because it was like that when we were in high school. Did I get it wrong?”

He stared at her for a moment before turning away.

“That was over 10 years ago, yet you remember it so well. You haven’t changed, Class President.”

Class President… She was beginning to get annoyed, but for some reason, she also enjoyed being treated like she was still in high school. Without saying a word, she looked at him. He finally pushed away the mirror and placed the ointment on the floor. With a sigh, he turned away and said to her,

“You’re right. If I return looking like this, Jay is going to kill me,”

Jay? Oh, right. The group Strawberry Fields’ oldest member and the leader was named Jay. But to be honest, Saeun only stared at Wooyoung whenever his group appeared on TV, so she couldn’t remember what the other members looked like.

“Is he scary? Do you guys not get along well or something?”

When Wooyoung didn’t answer, she added hurriedly,

“I mean, I’m not trying to be nosy or anything. You don’t have to answer me. What if I say the wrong thing to a reporter or something?”

“It’s not like that. Our team members are actually on good terms unlike some other groups.”

Wooyoung smiled and continued,

“But Jay has very strict rules. My face won’t heal for at least two to three weeks, which means I won’t be able to appear on any of the public programs we were planning to appear in. So obviously, he’s gonna be furious. What I did today wasn’t professional and I have no excuse.”

“Why did you fight?”

Saeun asked cautiously. Wooyoung, who was looking away, turned towards her again with a grin.

“It was because of a woman.”
