Chapter 76 - Jackpot!

Hiro ducked just before the greatsword reached his head, and…

SLAM!

[Eliminator Rocket has been broken]

The knight was quite strong. With just one swing of his greatsword, one of the rocket poles was cut into two.

After dodging at the perfect moment, Hiro pulled himself back up with a smirk to irritate the hunter even more.

As expected, the man became even more furious.

“You! I won’t let you go even if you beg for forgiveness!”

SLAM!

[Eliminator Rocket has been broken]

Hiro swiftly ducked. Another swing to the other way destroyed the other rocket pole.

“I don’t want it, but thanks for helping me break these things!” He gave a mocking smile and pointed to the rocket pole behind him.

Now that his goal was fulfilled, he finally took out his dagger and slashed the hunter’s stomach.

SPLAT!

[Fatal Damage]

Blood splattered out. His slash tore the man’s skin deep, causing the man dropped his greatsword before his body heavily fell.

“You can wait here until the event game ends.”

Seeing that his opponent was powerless, Hiro returned to where Cara and the two girls were waiting.

“You were amazing!” one of the two girls exclaimed in admiration.

Meanwhile, the other girl stared at his face a bit longer before her eyes widened in realization.

“You, you’re that famous pretty boy, NightFall, aren’t you!? The CBT King!”

“Sssh… Please lower your voice, we’re still in the middle of the game.”

Being with these girls might not be a good idea after all. However, he already had something for them to do, and Cara was going to be their commander.

As the three were in danger of getting immediately eliminated, Hiro told them to look for rocket poles and destroy them so they wouldn’t be usable to eliminate survivors.

Meanwhile, Cara’s task was somewhat different. As the leader of the ladies’ team, she had to make sure that they stay close and shout if they were in danger.

After explaining the plan one more time, Hiro gave the dagger in his hand to Cara.

“Tell her when you find the rockets,” he said to the two new girls.

“How about you? Do you have another weapon?”

“I’ll find one. Just destroy all the rockets you see.”

“When you finish, go to the south! I’ll see you again.”

After entrusting everything to Cara, Hiro left the three girls. He could keep an eye on Cara’s condition through the party status anyway, so he wasn’t worried.

While he had his party status on, he also checked Jacob’s status. It seemed that he was safe for now.

Not only that, but his name even appeared several times for lighting up torches.

Now that Hiro was back to having no weapons, he had to be careful. He couldn’t afford to let his guard down. If only the chat feature worked, communicating would’ve been a breeze.

Hiro checked the points he accumulated through the event-specific status panel.

[Remaining time: 02h 25m 30s]

[1st. Survivors]

[Total game points: 286,510]

[2nd. Hunters]

[Total game points: 85,536]

Almost 30% of the fire torches spread throughout the maze area had been lit up by the survivors. Furthermore, his name was still on the first page of the survivor rankings.

Fifth place, to be exact.

The top-rank survivor was Noah. However, what surprised him a little and made him proud at the same time was that Jacob was in seventh place.

“Not bad, bro.”

Hiro was back to being on his own. He had to focus.

He had given the task of getting as many survivors as possible to destroy the Eliminator Rockets to the three girls he saved. That way, the hunters’ victory would be hampered.

And so far, the secret plan hadn’t been discovered by the hunters; they who were still playing by the rules Game Master Juno stated.

He just hoped they wouldn’t realize the method that would be much easier than relying on Eliminator Rockets.

Time kept moving, and Hiro went back to looking for the hidden chest behind the plant wall.

It was really hidden well. Despite having stretched his body as much as he could, he still couldn’t reach it.

‘This is frustrating.’

Hiro looked around with annoyance. When his gaze landed on the ground a distance away from him, he saw the shadow of a rocket pole that almost blended with the shadow of the maze’s giant plant.

He quickly rushed to the rocket pole that caught his eye with restrained steps.

‘Oh?’

It seemed that luck was on his side. On the rocket pole, a Latino man was tied with his mouth gagged with a tree branch to prevent him from shouting for help.

As if the hunter who caught him was sure that he hid his prey with only 60 seconds remaining well, they didn’t guard the place and left the survivor alone.

Hiro immediately ran and untied the restraining rope from the survivor. It was tied tightly, yet he had to use his bare hands to free him.

“Urgh…!”

He was lucky that the man was gagged. At least he wouldn’t be bothered while trying to get the rope off.

Hiro’s hands reddened. Some parts of his hands were even scratched by the rope’s rough surface so much that he bled.

He silently greeted his teeth to endure the pain and continued loosening the rope.

Ding!

[Survivor: NightFall has saved a survivor]

[NightFall has obtained 10 game points]

“You! Why didn’t you release this damn trunk first!?”

Hiro frowned. This was the second time he got scolded by a survivor he rescued.

“Shut your mouth. The hunter will come back when they realize their points aren’t increasing.”

He ignored the annoyed look of the survivor he just rescued and began kicking the rocket pole in front of him. After a while, it finally broke into two, albeit unevenly.

He took the broken-off pole.

“What are you going to do with that thing?”

“Sssh.”

Hiro ignored him and walked to leave the hidden crack. He didn’t want to fight a hunter again at the moment, not when he had no weapons.

The survivor curiously followed him. He didn’t continue to run his mouth, so Hiro let him. He had to work together with the other survivors to get the tier 1 reward anyway.

‘Gotcha!’

Hiro finally managed to push out the chest hidden in the plant wall with the rocket pole.

The chest fell with a loud thud.

Unwilling to waste time, Hiro quickly opened the chest with both hands.
