In the cybercafe, Chen Mu heard a familiar voice that belonged to a familiar silhouette. After all, Chen Mu had lived with the silhouette for more than ten years now—it was Chen Mu’s younger sister, Chen Yifei.
His younger sister had always looked good since birth. She had big eyes, and her skin was soft and delicate. She was the little beauty everyone adored ever since she was young. Moreover, before she entered Year 3 Junior, she performed better than Chen Mu academically. Yet, what had happened at home affected her negatively, and her academic performance started worsening instead of improving.
The only way to deduce it was that the same incident affected different people differently.
Chen Yifei’s results began to deteriorate when she was in Year 3 Junior. She barely made it into the high school Chen Mu was in, Chuzhou No.10 High School, and she did it by scraping through the bare minimum.
Just recently, she installed League of Legends on the old computer they had at home. They had bought that computer three years ago. However, because old ma was always at home back then, she never allowed Chen Yifei to play.
Chen Mu was not expecting her to be at the cybercafe. Upon hearing his younger sister’s voice, Chen Mu, he felt a headache hit him in the head. Even when it came to monthly tests, Chen Yifei’s had results deteriorated so much that she was ranked one of the last ten in her class. If she continued the way she was, her future was certain to be gloomy.
With that in mind, Chen Mu walked directly toward Chen Yifei.
Chen Yifei was always very quiet whenever she was in a game; she hardly said anything. It just so happened to be one of those few times that she had come to a cybercafe to play with a girl who was her deskmate.
However, this time, Chen Yifei’s deskmate could no longer stand the coaxing and pestering of one of their fellow classmates, Shi Xin, and brought him along. It has to be said that he was a rather good player.
Nevertheless, shortly after they had arrived at the cybercafe, Chen Yifei’s deskmate told the two of them that something had come up at home. Hence, she left them in the cybercafe.
Therefore, Chen Yifei had no choice but to play a round of League with Shi Xin before leaving. She was not expecting to bump into Chen Mu there. It was too much of a coincidence.
“Chen Yifei, why aren’t you heading home?” Chen Mu’s voice rang.
“Huh?” Chen Yifei turned around, a questioning look was on her face. She was wondering why Chen Mu was there.
“Big Brother, why are you here?” Chen Yifei did not sound anxious; she had her own reasons and rationale. There was no reason for her to cower even though she had been discovered.
“It’s late. Why aren’t you home?” asked Chen Mu.
“I’m going to leave after this round. Why are you here?” Chen Yifei said with a collected expression on her face, obviously thinking that there was no problem in doing so.
“I intentionally came here just to look for you. From afar, I saw that there was someone who looked like you from the back. So, I came over,” said Chen Mu. He did not lie; he only altered his words cleverly to make Chen Yifei think that Chen Mu had followed her because he recognized her from the back on the cybercafe’s ground floor.
“My classmate’s buying…” Chen Yifei felt slightly guilty. The person who had offered to pay for the games was her female classmate. Now that only she and the boy were left, she was afraid that Chen Mu would misunderstand her.
However, deep down in her heart, she knew that she had legitimate and proper reasons to be at the cybercafe even though she could not tell anyone about it yet.
Like Chen Mu, she wanted to help out at home even though her methods were different.
Chen Mu glanced over and noticed that a good-looking man with delicate features was staring at them.
“Fine. Just go home and I won’t speak another word about this,” said Chen Mu.
“No, I can’t. I can’t disconnect when I’m in a game, my account will get suspended. I can leave, but I can’t abandon my teammates, can I…?” said Chen Yifei sternly.
“…” Chen Mu had not expected himself to become speechless at her reply. He thought, ‘How can you sound so confident about such a thing?’
“Yeah, we’re already here. Might as well finish the game first, it won’t take long,” said the boy opposite them.
“There’s nothing wrong about liking games. If you become first in class, I’ll never criticize you. Go home and revise properly. Or are you going to attend a private institution by paying tens of thousands of tuition fees yourself?” Chen Mu asked. Things were getting rather difficult at home. If Chen Yifei failed to make it into a public university, she would have to study in a money-sucking private university. Their family would not be able to afford to send her there.
“Aww, just wait for me for a while, it’s just a few more minutes.” Chen Yifei started to act cutely toward Chen Mu. She had just started a game. When Chen Mu heard that she would get suspended if she disconnected, he believed her immediately.
Truth be told, disconnecting from one or two games was not enough to warrant a suspension.
Chen Mu was speechless. He had always been a person who was easily persuaded by reason, but not someone who submitted to the pleas of another person. Nevertheless, Chen Mu had no defense against Chen Yifei’s coquettish plea. Then, he recalled the miracle that had befallen him earlier that day—the Unkillable Demon King System!
‘I’m supposed to play League of Legends in the future. I should be an adept— No, a professional player even?’
“I’ll teach you if you want to learn, we can learn at home,” Chen Mu said as shocking words spilled out from his lips. Did he just offer to teach Chen Yifei how to game?
“Big Brother, stop lying to me. When did you even start playing League of Legends?” Chen Yifei did not believe him at all.
“You’re the best student in Year 3 Senior, and I’ve heard a lot about you. I’ve always admired your academic prowess. However, as for League of Legends, I think it’s better if you just let us play. I’ll leave after guiding Chen Yifei this round,” said the boy sitting opposite them.
Ding!
“Mission triggered: The way of the Unkillable Demon King is to defeat every strong opponent in your way. Use a forceful tone to challenge your opponent to a solo match and defeat him. Should you succeed, you will obtain two hundred points; failure will cause the same amount of points to be deducted,” the System’s voice sounded once again.
“Nani1?! I received another mission before I even completed the previous one? I can have two missions at the same time?” asked Chen Mu.
“Yes, whenever situations arise, the system will announce corresponding missions. More missions will take place simultaneously in the future. Please work diligently, Host,” answered the System.
Chen Mu felt awkward. ‘What in the world is ‘solo’? Sure, let me play a solo match with him. I haven’t fricking played this game before.’
“Solo matches in League of Legends refers to one-on-one battles. In short, PK. You basically set up a custom game, invite the player that you want to challenge, and fight him alone on the 5V5 map.
“However, you can only use the mid lane. It’s recommended that you clarify which champions the both of you will use before the solo game starts. Otherwise, you might end up being at a disadvantage.
“Then, you 1v1 each other in the mid lane. You aren’t allowed to farm creeps in other lanes, and you are not allowed to kill jungle creeps. You win the moment you score a kill, destroy a tower, or reach one hundred in terms of Creep Score.
“It mainly tests your mechanical skills in one on one fights,” explained the System in detail.
Thankfully Chen Mu was able to pick up things quite easily. He imagined it to be something like a duel in the Middle Ages and transferred it to modern times whereby people used games to prove their philosophies.
However, he felt that it would be weird for him to use a forceful tone to challenge to a game. Was it not too much of an exaggeration if he used any tone at all to challenge someone?
‘What do I do? Transform into a Mingologist1?
‘I don’t care about what you think; I only care about what I think?
No, the line was not suitable to describe his current situation!
“Listen to me, I’ll teach my own younger sister. This isn’t something to be discussed. What I say is final!” Chen Mu’s words were rather unforgiving, and they met the System’s requirements perfectly.
Chen Yifei’s jaw dropped, and she began to wonder when her big brother had become such a ruthless person. ‘You’re not challenging someone to mathematics, you know. We’re talking about League of Legends.’
The classmate who Chen Yifei’s deskmate had brought over was Shi Xin, a player who had played League of Legends for more than a year. League of Legends was released two years ago, and Shi Xin started playing the game last year. He was an avid player with a thousand and seven hundred ELO points. As long as Chen Mu did not ask for mid lane, Shi Xin would be able to carry him.
Shi Xin looked at the person in front of him. Upon hearing his haughty tone, he began to feel a little worried. Was Chen Mu an expert with two thousand ELO points?
Seeking a sense of stability, Shi Xin asked Chen Yifei casually, “What tier is your elder brother in?”
“He has never played League before!” answered Chen Yifei. Despite her uncertainty, she was convinced that Chen Mu spent most of his time burying his nose in academic books. Was it actually possible that he had the time to play League?
‘Ah, he has never played before. I guess someone’s bluffing here!’ went Shi Xin’s thoughts. He did not say it out loud because, after all, Chen Mu was his goddess’ elder brother. He should at least look respectful in front of her.
“Alright, I’ll accept your 1v1 challenge. Mid lane, one kill, one tower, one hundred creeps,” Shi Xin said.
“Very well. Yifei, lend me your account,” Chen Mu said.
“What about your own? Will you be used to my runes?” asked Chen Yifei.
“I haven’t registered an account yet, I’ll deal with that later,” Chen Mu said.
Upon hearing Chen Mu’s words, Shi Xin almost fell off his seat. ‘You don’t even have a goddamn account, and yet you still want to 1v1 me? Watch me beat you until your teeth fall out.’
Within the duration of their conversation, Chen Yifei’s team was finished off by their opponents, and they got swept away.
Initially, Chen Mu had the intention of bringing Chen Yifei back home personally. However, to ensure that his younger sister no longer returned to the place, he persisted to complete the solo challenge.
All the players that they had added that day as friends were directly dragged into the game lobby. Chen Mu stared at the client interface, disorientated. ‘What in the world is all this? What’s with all the avatars on the screen?
‘Who am I? Where am I? What am I doing?’
Thankfully, the System was not inhumanely cruel. It informed Chen Mu that all the avatars on the screen were champions. He was supposed to pick a champion to use to fight his opponent. The game was similar to the RPG map in Warcraft.
The System made it easy for Chen Mu to understand. Chen Mu used to play Warcraft when he was in primary school. He had created a character that had the ability to walk around, butcher people, and massacre cities. It was not that hard.
“Who should I choose?” Chen Mu asked.
“Go random. When faced with such an opponent, a true Unkillable Demon King should be able to solo kill him a dozen times even with a random champion,” replied the System.
Thus, Chen Mu picked a champion that he thought was rather decent-looking and hit ‘lock in’.
“What is broken can be reforged,” a zealous line traversed into Chen Mu’s ears.
‘Sounds pretty good,’ thought Chen Mu.
“Please select AD Runes and pick corresponding Masteries,” the System reminded him.
Chen Mu followed the System’s instructions and selected a set of Masteries that the System recommended.
Chen Yifei sat on the seat next to him as she watched him. In her mind, she questioned, ‘He chose Riven in a 1v1? Is it a good champion to play in a solo match? Isn’t it better to choose a ranged champion so that you won’t get zoned while laning?’
Shi Xin steadily and swiftly selected Ryze, the Rune Mage—the first champion he ever played, and the one he was most confident in.
Shi Xin once achieved eight victories and two defeats while playing ranked. Out of those eight victories, Ryze had won him seven of them. It was apt to say that as long as Ryze was in his hands, it would not be a lie if he said he could defeat an opponent with a thousand and eight hundred or even nine hundred ELO points.
When his opponent chose Riven, he thought himself, ‘Hehe, Riven is trash before level 3. He’s inting on his own.’
This time, Shi Xin set his Summoner Spells to Ghost and Ignite. Flash was not very useful in a solo game. Exhaust and Ignite was without a doubt the strongest combination. However, Shi Xin’s opponent was a newbie that had never played the game before. Bringing Exhaust would be an exaggeration. He rather chased Chen Mu to death with Ghost; Ryze required movement speed after all.
Shi Xin glanced at Riven. ‘Oh? Flash and Ignite? What a noobie. Has he even played 1v1 before? For real? Or will he use them to save himself?’
Chen Mu obeyed everything the System told him to do. The System had told him that as the Demon King, he had to be relentlessly overbearing. Flash and Ignite were a must.
Since Chen Mu did not understand anything, Shi Xin chose to remain silent. Nothing would go wrong that way.
Chen Mu led the moe-looking Riven away from Spawn and walked toward one of the towers.
Chen Yifei called out in shock, “Big Brother, why didn’t you purchase items?”
“Huh? What does that mean?” Chen Mu asked.
“The System forgot to remind the host to purchase items that improve a champion’s attributes and combat strength,” said the System.
“Uh, it’s alright. I’ll just go back and buy them,” Chen Mu replied.
Shi Xin was rendered speechless. Up till that very day, he had not believed that there was someone as pretentious as Chen Mu. It was outrageous that Chen Mu had challenged him to a solo match despite not knowing that he was supposed to purchase starter items before leaving Spawn.
Read latest Chapters at WuxiaWorld.Site OnlyWithout hesitation, Shi Xin purchased the usual starter items. He started with a Sapphire Crystal. Initially, he wanted to increase his health points just to be safe. It seemed like the time for him to squash a newbie had come.
After Chen Mu had recalled, he consulted Chen Yifei about the items he should purchase before leaving the base.
Chen Yifei said, “Big Brother, just admit defeat. Why are you wasting time here? You should start with a Long Sword and three Health Potions. Yep, that one. Yep.”
Under Chen Yifei’s guidance, Chen Mu wilfully left the Fountain. He was now fortified with attack items.
