Chapter 155 - [Departure]

[Leanna's POV]

[Departure]

A few days later.

"Len-Len, don't forget to apply medicine on your wounds so they won't damage your skin. And don't––!"

"Mom, I know," I cut in. "Now give me back little Pluffy." I extended my hand at her –– eying her big duffle bag.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about." My mother shifted her eyes and tightened her grip on her bag.

"Mom, I can hear little Pluffy's whimpers from that bag."

. . .

. . .

My mother clicked her tongue. Sighing, she reluctantly gave me the bag. I let out the whimpering furball, and before he could jump at me –– Cain grabbed the little puff of fur, not letting him even an inch near me.

Since little Pluffy was a lot bigger now and puffier and I was injured at the moment, I let the furball whimpered at Cain's hand as the cold man carried him like a sack, tossed over his shoulder.

My mother sighed again, looking at little Pluffy with eyes full of longing while the twins held their emotions in check.

Our family loves dogs except for my father, who loves reptiles. So little Pluffy became the instant sensation in my condo, but that was until the twins found out where he came from. It was funny how they held their desires for the cute little creature. It was fun watching their sour faces every time little Pluffy chased after them to play.

"Mother, don't worry," Cain said, "I'll buy you whatever dog you want and deliver it to your home."

My mother's face brightened as she hugged him. "Ah! My son in law is the best. Now, I want a red one and a black one. I also want a newfound land and––!"

"No!" I protest. "Mom, our climate doesn't allow furry pets. They'll just die of heatstroke. We'll buy you something else. Now let go before you miss your flight."

My mother's hands shook as she forced herself to let go of Cain. Then she brushed her fingers on Cain's chest in a not so obvious way.

"I saw that." My father's warning voice compelled my mother to rushed by his side as she coaxed him.

I shook my head and gave my mother and father a goodbye hug before I kissed the twins on both their cheeks.

"Take care of my daughter now, alright?" My father gave a serious nod, which Cain replied with the same gesture.

My mother sighed, looking dejected. "If we can only ride that jet. We don't have to hurry back home."

At the mention of jet, the twin's face crumpled.

Cain wanted my family to ride his private plane back to our country, but the twins vehemently refused.

"Sis, take care of yourself, alright?" Lance changed the topic, giving me the puppy eyes before it turned menacing when he shot Cain a piercing glare.

"And DON'T trust that demon beside you." Lance stuck out his tongue while Cain just smirked much to his annoyance.

"You two be good, alright? Don't give mother and father many problems." I raffled their hair before Lance took my hand and stared at me with his large puppy eyes.

"Sis. You can't come home to our birthday?" he asked, tone low and soft.

My smiled wavered. "Sis has been absent from school quite a time now, but I promise to send you your gifts."

My heart twitched when Lance bit his lips and lowered his head.

Lawrence tapped Lance's shoulder. "Enough, brother. We are big boys now. We shouldn't trouble our sister with these kinds of things."

"Ahem!"

My mother cleared her throat, pulling our attention to her. "Now, Cain. I know you and Len-Len are engaged and all that . . . ," she shot Cain a side-eye, "but no funny business, alright?"

She then approached Cain and nudged him with her elbow.

Cain bent his body when my mother tiptoed and whispered something in his ear.

"Be discreet and wait until night time."

My mother winked and walked back to where my father was, pretending she didn't just say something outrageous.

"Don't be silly!" My father countered and threw a frown at his wife's way before he looked at Cain and me with a serious gaze. "At least wait until you're married . . . which I hope won't be long," he mumbled at the end.

I rolled my eyes at the sight of my parent's suggestive smiles and winks.

Aren't my parents concerned with me getting pregnant?

Oh right –– I forgot!

They wanted grandchildren!

My parents must have so much free time in their hands.

Sometimes, I wonder if they had forgotten that I'm still a sixteen soon to be a seventeen-year-old teenage girl!

"Lawrence!"

Our attention snapped at the heaving girl with pink hair, running and panting before she skidded to a stop in front of Lawrence.

"Thank God I made it in time!" Zoe breathed a mouthful of air before she calmed herself.

She then saluted to my parents. "Hello, Mr. And Mrs. Lee!" Before she focused all her attention on Lawrence.

"Here, I brought you this." Zoe hanged a very long, and if I may add, very thick, muffler around Lawrence's neck, which covered half of my poor brother's face.

"And this. You know it's cold on the plane. To keep you warm." She handed Lawrence a fluffy comforter and bags of snacks. "And this. So you won't get hungry."

Zoe was like a mother, sending her elementary kid to school on a winter day.

"Why don't you give him a pillow and a sleeping mask as well as a Kotatsu while you're at it." Lance sneered, which made Zoe's eyes bulge.

"You're right! I forgot about the pillows!" She turned left and right, frantic to find a pillow. She was about to bolt towards a store, but Lawrence grabbed her arm, stopping her.

"You don't have to . . ." For a moment, Lawrence didn't know what to say and decided to change the topic. "Err . . . Thank you . . . For all of this," he said while keeping his eyes and nose afloat beneath the muffler.

If not for the cast on my right leg, I'd wrestle Zoe down when she gave Lawrence a tight hug.

"Take care of yourself and don't forget to call me if you need anything at all and . . . and . . . Just . . . Just don't forget to call me every day," Zoe choked and released Lawrence.

To my horror, Lawrence kissed her on the cheek!

"Mmm . . . You also take care of yourself," Lawrence whispered near Zoe's ear before he chased after my parents with Lance behind, waving at us goodbye.

. . .

. . .

It was a while now that my family boarded their plane, and I was still staring daggers at the love-stricken girl.

A possessive and protective feeling filled me as well as unacceptance at the thought that Zoe and Lawrence might be dating.

I wonder if this is what the twins are feeling about Cain and me.

"Zoe. You. Treacherous. Snake." I hissed.

Zoe bit her bottom lip and avoided my piercing glares. "Um . . . Ahh . . . Sister in law, I'm glad you're alright. I'll see you at school!" She saluted and sprinted off, escaping my wrath.

"Zoe, come back here!"
