[Backstory]

"I'm serious about you. This is a first that I've ever felt like this," Tristan said with a tender voice and adoring face.

We were having dinner together. This was happening months now after I started my first day at work. Tristan Clark is my boss and the son of the owner of Clark's Construction Company, where I work.

"Don't you know that I had to take your whole team to dinner so that I can take you to dinner as well?"

I knew. I didn't want to go out with anyone if it was just going to be the two of us. Thus, for me to come, he always invited the whole team. I was touch and felt that he was willing to go such lengths just to please me.

So after just months, I went out to dinner with him –– only the two of us. And we had been together ever since.

"I know," I whispered as I caressed his handsome face, smiling at him with so much love.

"Hi guys, sorry I'm late!"

A cheerful voice pulled us out from our lover's sanctuary.

I turned and saw my best friend since college, Cristy Holm.

"Hey! You're finally here," I greeted and faced Tristan.

"This is Cristy, my other half," I said and glanced at Cristy. "Cris, this is Tristan, my––"

"The boyfriend!" Christy chimed in. "It's nice to finally meet you!" She shot Tristan and me a meaningful look, and the smile on her face widened when heat rushed to my cheeks.

After the introductions, Cristy and I lost ourselves in memory lane.

"You want to resign?" Tristan was dumbfounded. "But you've only been here for ten months. Why?"

I faced his shock look and the accusation in his voice. "You know why. I can't work here anymore. Your father doesn't like me. Your people talk behind my back."

I sighed. "It's wrong of me to fall in love with my boss."

". . ."

". . ."

"So you're just going to leave me?" he said, tone low and condemning.

"No! I'm just going to apply at an architectural firm near my place," I said.

"Near your place, but it's two hours from mine!"

Clark's construction office and his house were far from my rented apartment and the company I planned to work. I had been staying at Clark's employee dorm during my work here and just went back to my rented apartment every now and then.

"It's just for two hours. We can do something about it," I said, a bit guilty and sorry for him.

After so much pleading, he reluctantly agreed.

After I resigned and moved back to my rented apartment, Tristan helped me move my remaining things. It was already evening when we reached the area where I stayed. But instead of going to my apartment, he stopped in front of a hotel.

"What are we doing here?" I asked, hiding my nervousness beneath an innocent tone.

Tristan looked at me with unconcealed desire and lust.

"It's almost a year that we have been together. I don't want to be separated from you."

He cupped my face between the palm of his hands. "I'm anxious at us being apart like this. Please . . . let me have something of you, so I'll feel reassured."

I knew what he wanted. He was direct with his actions in these past few months. His constant deep kisses and caresses on my body. We didn't break the last step because I was hesitant. But seeing him like this. Like the world ended before him because of our parting, I felt warm and nervous . . . and a bit scared.

I nodded.
