Leave The Monster Alone

Chapter 126 - The Pre-rebellion Talk

She did not like this situation any more than the other members but she could still make use of this situation.

Which meant she had to be level head one here and see how this could help them in other ways.

"Seems feasible. I'll get the sample for you then and also ping Liam about it all" Mark took his knife and separated a small portion without touching the crystal and stored it in his system.

No one really questioned why he had been the one to do so either. Not after the vial incident and the aftermath. They had just accepted him behind the weird one of the group. Mark did not mind though.

"I have the piece. Let's return to the base now and do be careful. Conditions had not been peaceful there at all. I'm afraid a rebellion is brewing under the surface" Mark just warned others about what he had been observing.

If they were smart enough then they would catch onto what he was saying, if not then someone else would ask and they would be informed as well.

And Luna was the first one who caught onto it.

"So, there will be a revolt soon? I can see that happening. So, what is the solution you and Liam came up with?" Mark opened his mouth to answer but then looked at the twins at Luna's side.

He was not sure how much he should say to not go overboard with his explanation. The system was still a huge blocker but it was not as it had been like the start now. The more he did, the further he went, the more it started to relax and allow his liberties.

Luna also saw his subtle stare and gave Mark a reassuring nod. He had not yet realised that their trust is not the issue here but their presence.

So they had to find another place without kicking them all out.

"Let's go back first. We cannot stay here for this long and we also need supplies" Luna made the final decision and no one protested. He was really looked up to as a dependent figure in this group.

"Miss Rika, would you mind going with the twins and Jean right now? I'll take the rest of them" Rika noded with a slow-motion of her head. She did not mind at all and would actually prefer this arrangement.

The other girls would understand her problem and the male twin sounded cool and worth knowing.

Then they were off with Luna leading in Mark's vehicle. Jean and his party were more comfortable with his vehicle after all.

Mark did feel the question coming but no sound reached his ears.

Mark was faced with a stare from the other. Currently, Luna was driving while the rest of them took a rest. His car was occupied by him, Alan, Kuro and Luna which made it the perfect clear to him what this was about.

"The rebellion? How long have you been aware of it? And when will it start?" Luna asked. He had already lived through it once and his memory was not great even with all his knowledge.

But still, he was willing to bet that the rebellion had still come after a long time. This was far too fast, both the base connection and the finding of the farmland.

And it could be contributed to his experience as well as Liam's future knowledge. But maybe also because of Mark's involvement.

"Rebellion? It's a little more complicated than we imagine. There are too many foreign factors that we cannot see on the surface. But the fact remains - the rebellion is coming in a few days now" they both understood the significance of this small talk.

"This fast? What escalated this event?" Luna could not help but ask this question.

"The vial incident was a factor but it was orchestrated by them too. I joined them to find the mastermind behind all this. It was also likely that I will play a part in the rebellion in the upcoming fight" Mark needed to get this warning out right now.

It made the other two jolt as if they had not expected this to happen. In hindsight, they should have seen it coming but they had not expected it to happen.

"Why you? You cannot be planning to stay behind all alone? Why not tell us" Alan asked, his voice on the verge of breaking. The teen felt betrayed by the other.

Was he going to separate himself from Alana and everyone else? And he had not given a warning yet? Why had they not been informed yet when Mark had so much time to do so.

"It was supposed to be a secret to make it more believable. We are nowhere close to cracking the secret behind this rebellion. I'm talking a risk telling you all this" Mark decided to be honest because there was no harm.

It was also a little manipulative since it made others become considerate of his feelings and other things. He would use it to his advantage right now.

"I'll stay with you then. It should be alright if I do right?" Both Mark and Luna turned toward Alan with a confused expressions. What was the teen saying now? Did he even hear himself?

"I mean, it should be no problem if I took Mark's side in this rebellion and stayed behind. I think it would the safer option for me because my brother is too public to not draw attention to me but Mark is the opposite" which did not make sense to Mark at all.

"No. You are not joining that rebellion at all. In fact, there will be no rebellion. I will talk with Luna and we will work it all out one way or the other" that was final in Luna's eyes.

The rebellion had been a bad event that had led to good things. But still, it should be avoided if it could be.

"No, we cannot. The roots for it are too deep to dry now. Besides, I still need to tell you some crucial facts" Mark turned toward Luna who stopped driving just for a few seconds to listen. It felt like it was important.

"The one heading the rebellion, the figurehead and his assistant we all interact with - they're not fully human. They look like the prototypes gen-I which should not exist right now. They're not as powerful yet, maybe near 30% but they will get better soon" Luna's grip tightened over the steering wheel.

Prototype gen-I was the name given to the first batch of surviving humans who took the vile. Mark and his party was a part of it and they were given power on par with divine beast since they contained the original DNA.

The main DNA had been lost in the rebellion and the rest of the prototypes had mixed DNA which was more astable but much less powerful. There had been 12 gen-1 prototypes but 6 had died even before being reborn - one for each divine beast.

But maybe they had no survived but had hidden away at the rebellion. They could be a danger, just like that voice inside his head that whispered sweet poison all the time.

"I see. That place would be a safe place for Noah if they believe he is one of them but are you sure you can guarantee his safety?" This was Luna's brother they were talking about. No matter how good a situation looked, if it was not 100% safe he would not feel alright.

"Hey, do I not get a voice here?" Alan asked but was ignored. In retrospect, Mark trusted him enough to make this decision but Luna did not. He knew his brother and he was not ready to make this decision with his head.

While it was safer for him, was it really the best option for him? He would not have Luna for protection but he would have Mark. And he would have protection and a means of communication.

"I think Alan should join me. You are bounded by responsibilities and bonds to the organisation and Alan would conflict with it. I'm relatively a free agent and I started this mess with him" which did not mean Luna could hand his brother over like this.

"I'll do it even if you stop me brother so there is no use in you trying. I'm currently stronger than you even" the teen boasted.

"Really? Then I'll have to teach you the reality. However, if you really did manage to best me, I would allow you to take your own path" not that the other would be able to now. Luna had already taken the first dose of Prototype gen-I he had smuggled in the past somehow.

He had to time it right though and he finally did. It was not fully digested by his body yet, yet but he could still start to feel the benefits. There was no way Alan would be able to win.
